Moris | 24 comments Is this...acceptable? Personally, I think it's dead wrong - I would rather have no cover instead of a wrong one, it's misleading. Or am I missing something in Goodreads policy?

Go to edit/librarian log, take a look at the culprit.

There's many more.

❂ Murder by Death (murderbydeath) I have reverted that change and the cover is now removed. We don't allow cover uploads of images that do not accurately reflect the published book cover.

where it said that the cover image had been updated by "Goodreads". This shouldn't really be the cover, right?

For a lot of public domain books that are published as eBooks, these may be the covers. Some people just slap any related picture in as the cover and leave it as that. It may not be the case for this book, but I wouldn't automatically assume it's incorrect if it's a kindle/nook edition for a public domain book.

lafon حمزة نوفل (lafon) | 3544 comments It is. I'll "buy" the book a little later on, and update the cover.

Banjomike | 5166 comments It appears that like the librarian involved has already been de-librarianed so we can assume that the PTB decided it was against policy.

Looking at some of the books, like this one:
http://www.goodreads.com/book/show/14...

and the author page:
http://www.goodreads.com/author/list/...

there is no way to tell what the correct edition is. It seems from her shelves that they were being added almost as placeholders for her own personal use. No data EXCEPT the author image. There are thousands of them.

Moris | 24 comments What a mess. I'll try to go through her edits and add some data.

Definetly wrong to have his photo as the book covers. It belongs only on the author page.

I have this edition on Kindle and it has that standard public domain Amazon cover. I'm going to screencap it and change it. I just find it strange that "Goodreads" is listed as adding the author picture as the cover.

A few other editions of Ethan Frome also have it

Looks like one of the just-after-Amazon imports that was done, before they started getting marked with each one's source.
