Susan (beachgal12) | 11 comments Not in the lib. manual - how to add an ebook/audio etc edition when the ISBN (and 13) # are already entered for the hardback? I am a credentialed librarian who works in a county library system in the US. This should not be a problem to add other editions and have them appear in a search using the book #'s. However not seeing how the software in GR works to accommodate this situation. Please enlighten me how to add on other editions once the # is already in the system but exclusively for the hardback.

Vicky (librovert) | 2462 comments An ISBN can only be used once in Goodread's database - but you can add another edition with the ISBN information in the description or a librarian's note (very similar to an alternate cover version).

I would also look to see if the book has been inappropriately labeled as hardback or whether the book does indeed share ISBNs.

Darkpool The "other editions" section has nothing to do with the isbn, so I'm not sure what you are getting at there. Also there is nothing in this situation that prevents the ebook from being combined correctly with the other editions so that it does appear up in the "other editions" section.

Tntexas | 404 comments Basically you leave the ISBN field blank when you add the new book and then combine the new book with the other editions. (I think you can make a note in the description field that it shares an ISBN with another format of the book, but I'm not positive on that.)
