Why on earth would you want to be a vampire?

yeah being a vampire is just weird. i mean you're drinking people's blood as a supplement of food. it's gross and kind of revolting. being a werewolf would be so much better, simply because you're warmer, naturally, but then again on the negative side, you eat raw meat which is still pretty disgusting, but so much better than eating humans

I'd hate being a vampire. Reasons!
-To become one, you suffer extreme pain.
-Eternal life, it might sound cool, but if you take the time to really think about it, it'd completely suck. Eighty years on earth will be enough for me.
-You wouldn't really be able to hang out with people (humans), it'd remind you of your thirst and you'll know that one day they'll all die. Talk about depressing.
-If you ever do die, it'll be extremely painful.
-You'd have to be careful with everything. You could break your computer in half as you try to type.
-Eventually I'd go insane. It's too many lifetimes for one person to live through.
-If vampires are allergic to sunlight, you'll never be able to visit the library. The library usually closes when the sun goes down.

Death is something we fear and if given the chance to live forever... i'd take it! And I don't have to watch my loved ones die, I'd turn them all too! (ok only those that I can stand to live with forever.. hahaha) I think having the opportunity to watch the passage of time as an immortal is a great albeit lonely gift. That's why vampires choose companions.

When it comes to food.. will it be any better if a vampire only drinks the blood of pigs, cows and chickens? We also kill them for food.

But according to most fiction vampires are very instinctive creatures meaning that you would have a hard time controlling yourself if people are getting hurt near you. This would make it a lot harder to keep that "only animals" diet of yours :)

Also in a lot of myth/fiction vampires need human blood and can't really choose to drink animal blood. (This actually makes for better stories mostly, as you get people who have turned but need to get used to that they can't survive without human blood)

By the way f you go by the motion "I turn my friends and family too" they will probably do the same this would mean that you very fast would end up with a VERY big vampire population which would have a quite bad effect on earth climate as even more people would need to live by a animals only diet resulting in the need for more farms to feed the animals again resulting in the need to remove more forest to make space for this.

I love books involving supernatural creatures. Have I ever asked myself would I want to be one? Yes, I remember playing would you rather and the question being. Would you rather be a werewolf or vampire? I choose vampire. I always found myself fascinated by vampires. Their piercing red eyes, their thirst for human blood, their strength, speed, gifts that some are given (Twilight). Their alluring beauty. I wouldn't mind being a vampire but with the pros of being a vampire comes the cons. Being frozen in time in the same body from when you turned, never dying or aging, having human experiences, feeding off humans to stay alive, taking lives of animals to quench your thirst, never to live a normal life, never to have kids. If I had to be a vampire I would. But if given a chose I would stay human. But I wonder and daydream in the life I would live if I was one.

I would never become a vampire. Feeding on blood (whether it's human or animal) disgusts me. Also, living forever sounds good first, but that REALLY means FOR EVER. That is a very long time, spending loving one person. What is the guarantee that you won't have problems and separate. Or get bored. And when vampires get bored, they start murdering people. (I read an awful lot of books about vampires.)
So, no I wouldn't be a vampire. Only, if it was the ONLY way to save me from dying. I don't want to die, obviously. I'm a child. I've lived such a short time!

Here's something people don't think about. According to Meyer, when a person is changed into a vampire their feelings, likes, basically their whole personality comes with them into vampire life. But physically, they are forced by their thirst to kill and drain people. Essentially, you'd have a normal human, transferred into the body of a serial killer.

Unless a person were already a sick serial killer, that experience would be bound to mess with their head. Meyer vamps should be suffering from major psychological problems or PTSD.

There are definitely downsides, but a lot of people look at the upsides. When you're a vampire, you generally don't age, you often have supernatural powers, and the lifestyle is often portrayed glamorously.
