Charles Vella | 7 comments How can I find out how to customize my links. They work ok but on the Barnes and Noble edition of one of them Kobo is the first link and on the Amazon version Barnes and Noble is the first one. My preference would be to only have the links that work for each edition but I haven't been able to figure out how to do that.

rivka As I said in the previous post, book links cannot be customized on a per-book basis. Each user customizes their links, but they do so on a global basis -- the same set of links will show up for all books they view.

As an author, you need to confirm that all editions of your book have been added. So if it has a Kindle edition, there should be one listed here with an ASIN. And if it has a Nook edition, one listed with that identifier, and so on.

Jacqueline Garlick | 3 comments Hi Paula, All...

I listed my book a while back, (with proper ISBN# I have my own) but just went live on Amazon with it yesterday. I see that it is now double listed here, and in both cases, the links to Amazon and KOBO and all the rest are incorrect. They all lead to some other book with a name similar to my book, but not my book at all. My book is Lumiere, with an accent on the first 'e'. Is this the problem? How can I get these changed as I am doing a publicity blast campaign for the book right now and I'm being flooded with emails from people who can't find my book? Help?...

Alex (ucbstirling) | 140 comments Hi Jaqueline,

There were a few things going on here. First, your book was listed under both Jacqueline E. Garlick and Jacqueline Garlick-- so our system didn't see them as both belonging to the same Author. I've corrected that, and combined the editions, so that all reviews for the book show in the same place.

As Rivka alluded to earlier, our book links search based on the ISBN, ASIN, BNID or other stock number. If they don't find an ISBN, as is the case with your ebook edition, they search by title. That can get a bit tricky when the title includes special characters (such as accents), so we recommend including the stock number whenever possible.

Unfortunately, Kobo will only allow us to search by title--and it doesn't handle the accent well. This means that link might not work exactly right as is. About the best we can do for that link is to remove the accent from the Kobo-specific edition on Goodreads (I've done that)--you'll see if you test it from that edition that your book comes up early in the search results. Not perfect, but better than the way it was working before.

Currently, your book has a Kindle edition (listed by ASIN, for which only the Amazon link will work) and a Kobo ebook edition as discussed above. If you've got the book listed at Sony or iBooks or anywhere else as an ISBN, you might add that ISBN to the Kobo edition, so that the link will work for both Kobo and those other stores. If you've got a NOOK edition, you would want to create a new ebook edition using the BNID in place of an ISBN13.

If you need any help with this, feel free to contact us at support at goodreads dot com (or post in the Librarians Group and someone there will help you.

Best,
Alex

Jacqueline Garlick | 3 comments Hi, I left a comment here earlier today about my link issue. My book on goodreads is linking to some other book. I don't know where it went, anyway, it appears someone is working on it, THANK YOU. It is now linking to Amazon (CND? not US?), but not KOBO correctly. I think I may know why. KOBO didn't use MY ISBN# (which is the correct one) and entered it under their own, so you may have to search for it under my name, Jacqueline Garlick. I've had trouble myself finding it up on there. Thanks again for your attention to this matter...awesome...I hope you can fix it all. Very Very much appreciated. Thank you. Thank you.

Alex (ucbstirling) | 140 comments Hi Jaqueline, did you see my above post?

message 57: by Jacqueline (new)

Jacqueline Garlick | 3 comments Ok...just saw this note...it had disappeared earlier. Thanks for this! And I'll contact KOBO and get them to change the ISBN, to the correct one...that should do it. I have up-loaded it on Smashwords for the rest with the correct ISBN, so things should be okay there, I hope. And thanks, didn't realize the name difference, sorry. Jacqueline.

Monique Dixon (moniquedixon) | 3 comments Hello, I'm new to Goodreads and this group, but am hoping someone can help with the difficulties I'm having creating a new book link.

The below is the link I inserted, which shows up correctly in test link, http://www.amazon.co.uk/s/ref=nb_sb_n...# (and the variant version for ISBN13 and Title), but when I submit I get this message: Isbn url can't be an amazon link, use the amazon link provided.

Please help! After several attempts at this I'm starting to pull my hair out.

Paula (paulaan) | 332 comments Where are you trying to add this link?

Please provide the book page link on GR

GR Book pages do not need links to amazon added

message 60: by Monique (new)

Monique Dixon (moniquedixon) | 3 comments I'm trying to add it here https://www.goodreads.com/user/edit

I don't believe I have a book page. I thought creating a link through the above was the process in which to create a book page?

message 61: by Paula (new)

Paula (paulaan) | 332 comments No, you are adding a link to your user profile which does not create a book page

To add a new book follow the instructions in msg1 in the link below

Deb Huston (debhuston) | 40 comments I've had no luck resolving my book links since joining the GR Authors Program. I have a series with (2) books only on AMAZON KDP. Both are in eBook and paperback formats with separate ISBNs for each book and format. GR has listed multiple editions for Book 1, KOBO as the 1st retailer (not available there) and a drop down list to find AMAZON. The AMAZON link is finally working and takes you to the paperback link for both books which I can live with as the Kindle eBook edition is listed there. But why the multiple editions of an eBook? Can't these be combined into one link?Phineas Blue Shadows and Light

Deb Huston (debhuston) | 40 comments Thank you for fixing the AMAZON links and others. I wish you had posted that this was being addressed. But thanks anyway. Another thing I find confusing is why my paperbacks don't show my covers? The show only the Goodreads logo. Is there something I can do to correct this?

message 66: by Alex (new)

Alex (ucbstirling) | 140 comments Hi Deb,

So there are a few things going on here. First, Book Links aren't set for your book, they're specific to each user. You can change the order they appear for you in the book links tab of your edit profile page, but that will only change the view for you. Most users see our default list, but some users have set a list based on their favorite stores-- these preferences apply to every book on the site.

As far as the cover image, as the author you can actually add a cover image to books of yours without a cover--if there's already a cover in place you'll need a librarian's help. I've gone ahead and added the covers to your paperback editions for you, and if you need help in the future you can reach us at support at goodreads dot com with any questions.
