Zoran Krušvar So, those vampire people tend to be resistant to injuries. Would that be a problem during sex with a mortal?

Leona Well in True Blood, this happens to one of the characters and each time after she has sex her hymen just heals.

was that on the show or in the books?

RL Castro It's in the show, she isn't in much of the books.

Lyra Leona wrote: "Well in True Blood, this happens to one of the characters and each time after she has sex her hymen just heals."

Now, that would be cool. XD

Mark Somebody is really thinking about it and formulate a question about it????

Must have had way too much time on his/her hands.

Zoran Krušvar Hey, I like my vampires to be realistic to every detail! :-p

Paul Vincent You do know they're not real, right?

no it wouldn't, the first time having sex is an uncomfortable and often painful experience, with little actual pleasure... why would anyone want to do that over and over again?

Vampires aren't real! Dang it all! I was hoping to bump into Lestat down in New Orleans one time.

LOL

Yeah, right. Next thing you're gonna tell me that there is no Santa, Cthulhu or Jesus?

Leona Kirby wrote: "Leona wrote: "Well in True Blood, this happens to one of the characters and each time after she has sex her hymen just heals."

Just in the show. It happens to a character who isn't in the books.

Katherina The vampire virgins I feature in my own vampire fiction are not very willing to try out, weather it would heal or not - but in the canon I invented, it would.
And so it would in the canon of Anne Rice, but as far as I know, she doesn't feature any intercourse between a vampiress and a mortal man.

I new some series mentioned it, I just could't remember which one.

I don't know... Because you'll be forever virgin? Hehe. Haven't thought of that, though. Now that you've mentioned... Yeah, that wouldn't be cool. :D

Fatin I can't remember if there is such a scene in any of her novels. Claudia never has sex, thank God.

message 17: by Ewa (new) - rated it 3 stars

Ewa As far as I can remember Anne Rice vampires are not interested in sexual activity (or even unable to it)- bloodsucking stands for all for them. But even if such small damage would be done it would heal while hibernating during daytime.

Fatin Ewa wrote: "As far as I can remember Anne Rice vampires are not interested in sexual activity"

LOL what novels have you been reading? Have you read The Vampire Armand? Anne's vampires are always very sexual and there's nothing wrong with that.

Veronica What if they are turned while they are menstruating? How would that blood flow be affected as a vampire?

It depends; how flexible are they?

message 23: by R.B. (new) - rated it 5 stars

R.B. In Anne Rice's novels vampires don't have sex, the equivalent of the sexual act for them is the bite. I think is Louis saying it in the first book.

Armand had many sexual experiences but when he was alive, in his book he says that Marius looked sad beside him and wouldn't touch him. That was because he couldn't do what he wanted.

That's also the reason why Lestat found himself a girl as soon as he gets a human body. Female vampires are never explained though.

message 24: by Ray (new) - rated it 5 stars

Ray As far as male vampires go...from a physiological stand point, I would venture there would not be enough "blood flow" to the penis to sustain an erection...lol

Alice Blackwood Though Anne Rice's vampires are not interested (or able for the males) to have genital intercourse, a hymen is just another piece of tissue that, if injured, will heal. Rice's vampires are able to heal broken bones, burns, and far more grievous injuries with ease. I don't think they'd have any problem whatsoever with a hymen.

Francisco Amazing question...

Kynthos-the-Archer (Kyn) It could be breached but she will once again regain it after the 'act' just like how Claudia's hair grew back right after she snips it off. Does that still makes her a virgin tho? That's the question to ponder about. Go figure.

message 28: by Denise (last edited Jan 04, 2013 11:14AM) (new) - rated it 4 stars

Denise ... makes me wonder if vampires can gain muscle mass.

Anyway, having the hymen heal would be annoying unless the vamp was into S&M. Images of feline intercourse come to mind -although that is a barbed penis situation.

message 29: by Omar (new) - rated it 4 stars

Omar Kiam This is a silly conversation...

Everyone knows true vampires can't have sex.
First, a male vampire doesn't have the blood flow for an erection.
Second, a female virgin vampire can try it with a non-vampire, but he wouldn't have the strength required to break her hymen.

message 30: by Sajani (last edited Jan 04, 2013 10:22PM) (new) - rated it 5 stars

Sajani I agree with Ewa and the few others who mentioned this- in the Anne Rice books, vampires don't have sexual urges. The book mentions at one point that the sexual organ is the only human organ they still possess, which no longer functions once they've become vampires. The bite is the equivalent of sex.

I'd also like to point out that there is a hole in the hymen naturally, before a woman ever has sex. That's how blood flows out during menstruation. Despite popular (extremely popular) thought, you can't tell if a woman is a virgin or not simply by examining her hymen. It's true that some women may have smaller hymens, which widen after she's had intercourse for a while (hence the bleeding when she has sex for the first time), but unless you kept a record of 'before' and 'after,' you still wouldn't be able to tell.

I see nothing wrong in sex. I was just convinced vampires even if erotic beings are unable for phisical act of love. I don't remember if it ever happened in these parts of chronicles I have been reading so far. Actually I felt kind of relief Lestat has ended his virginity before turning into vampire because he would not be able to taste it after. I haven't touched Vampire Armand yet though and seriously doubt I will read anything more by Anne Rice in foreseeable future.

what happens to the rest of Rice's vampires' organs?

Sajani Kirby: They keep all their organs, and those organs all serve a purpose in the vampire body, i guess. It's just that the sexual organ is the only that doesn't serve a purpose anymore. Sorry, my grammar made my meaning unclear.

Mitchell Fobbester I think it depends on what type of vampire you are. In the Anne Rice books, Lestat loses his eye in Memnoch the devil and it doesn’t grow back, I would imagine that once the hymen has broken it would stay broken. In twilight the vampires appear to be made of porcelain so who knows how the hell that will work, maybe that’s why there was an awkward scene of inter-species vampire human sex. It’s already been mentioned that the Rice’s vampires don’t seem to have an appetite for sex so I don’t think there’s a problem here.

Brooklyn Ann If she gets old enough to turn into "marble" like Anne Rice's Millenial vamps, she could hurt someone! LOL.

Actually they are into sex, A LOT. They frequent brothels and in the Queen of the Damned, there was a scene where Lestat was looking at his reflection after having sex with Akasha.

I even think he mentioned something about having a perpetual erection.

Now, THAT's uncomfortable.

I have a theory for that. They can't "grow" new organs but they can fix any broken ones. Like what happened to the hawk-nosed vampire Santino ganged with in The Vampire Lestat. It also happened with Nicholas in the same book.

I think if you cut a vampires legs, it would stay that way. Forever. Unless you reattach them.

Renee E Maybe someone should ask one of the "How to Become a Real Vampire" people ;-)

Felix The only vampires I know live in Washington D.C.!

Lunar Fatin wrote: "Ewa wrote: "As far as I can remember Anne Rice vampires are not interested in sexual activity"

Agreed... Rice mentions their "hard members" and hints at it even though she doesn't outright explicitly tell it. I think Rice's vampires find a sexuality in the blood, the connection of flesh so sensual.. at least in my mind.. it was "unsaid" but there.

Lynda Panther While Ann Rice's vamps can't get it up, those in the Anita Blake series can. But only if they've fed.
Which would you prefer?
Mine, on the other hand, have all their faculties. What a bitch.

Michaela Osiecki I think everyone is ignoring a very crucial science fact - you CAN have sex without breaking the hymen. I know, a radical notion, but the hymen tends to have a fair amount of stretching capacity and as long as you aren't being forcefully penetrated, there's no reason it would actually have to tear. So an intact hymen is not necessarily an indicator of the antiquated idea of virginity

Also, most girls break/tear their hymen during other activities, like exercise. So having a broken hymen also isn't an indicator of lack of virginity.

Caity Shook Paul wrote: "You do know they're not real, right?"

No they did not know that. *sarcasm*

Lynda Panther Neither is an intact hymen an indicator of sexual abstinence. My midwife was quite intrigued by my intact hymen when I was having my first baby. An episiotomy saw to that...........
