Katiria Figueroa Rant Mode: ON

After reading The Gathering by Kelley Armstrong I became curious to know what Corey is and what superpowers he has. Going back to the book and doing some research I found out that Corey is a Sileni and that he has the power of prophecy.

Keep reading to find the proof of my theory. ;)

* A “Sileni” is a drunken follower of Dionysus (Wine God). Silenus was the oldest, wisest and most drunken follower of Dionysus. When intoxicated, Silenus was said to posses special knowledge and the power of prophecy.

On Chapter 15:

… “I don’t have the same symptoms as you guys,” … “But I know you think I’m something, too. Something supernatural” (Corey)

“There are two other terms on that list,” … “Xana and sileni.” (Daniel)

“And you’re a good drinker,” … “You can hold your liquor better than anyone I know.” (Hayley)

“Your headaches might be related to it,” … “They began a year ago, right?” (Daniel)

“And Dr. Inglis was very interested in them,” … “She started looking after you personally and giving you special medicine.” (Maya)

“She asked about them a lot, too. Whether anything was happening when I got them.” … “Like whether I was seeing things or hearing things. I thought she meant like my dad, who always smelled burned toast before he had a seizure. I figured she thought it was a sign I was getting epilepsy.” (Corey)

“More like a sign you’re getting your powers,” … (Maya)

On Chapter 26:

… “It’s like a flash of light splitting my skull. Then more flashes. This time—” … “Seeing stuff. Crazy stuff.” (Corey)

“Like what?” (Maya)

“Can’t tell. Just—” … “Stuff. Images. Don’t make sense.” (Corey)

… “What do you see?” (Maya)

“You know how when you dream, stuff from your day comes back, only it’s all mixed up? That’s what it’s like. I see things and sometimes I recognize them, but they’re…” … “In the wrong place. Out of context. That’s it. Out of context.” (Corey)

“Like what, Corey?” (Maya)

“Rafe.” … “I saw Rafe and I saw you. Only it’s… not any place I’ve seen you two together.” (Corey)

“Someplace you don’t recognize.” (Maya)

“No, it’s your place.” … “You, me, Rafe, Daniel, and your dog out behind your house. It’s like seeing a memory that never happened…” (Corey)

* Although they didn’t know what to make of it at the time. Corey had a vision of the future and told Maya that Rafe was still alive and exactly where she could find him.

Libbie Your rant has given me many many smiles! I thought Corey had prophecy, too, even without the proof offered up...though it's cool! I love the fact that being drawn from Dionysus and he can hold his liquor. So awesome.

Corey's one of my favorites from this group. His sarcasm is made of awesome =)

Katiria Figueroa I'm glad! He's one of my favorites too along with Hayley. ;)
