I'm reading Errantry: Strange Stories, the newest collection of short fiction by the great Elizabeth Hand. This one contains The Maiden Flight of McCauley's Bellerophon, the novella that was nominated for a Hugo but lost to Ted Chiang. (And as much as I love Chiang, I think Hand deserved the award.)
Stefan, I have that Hand novella in some anthology or other and I agree, it's WONDERFUL!
I'm in the middle of the third Harry Dresden book, Grave Peril. I have to say I'm not super impressed with the series so far. I've heard that it gets better around book 4 so I'll stick it out at least that far (I've got the collection of books 1-6 out on digital loan from the library) - the first two did entertain me well enough :)

I've got this monthes BOTM The Demolished Man here. I'm planning on reading it after Timescape.

Then it's probably back to the next book club pick, What Alice Forgot.
IF I get to read anything of my own this month, it'll be finishing up Hobb's Ship of Destiny.

I haven't been reading as much lately because of all the work in my Master's Program, but I'm hoping that I'll get some good reading done this month.
I just finished reading Errantry: Strange Stories, an excellent collection of stories by Elizabeth Hand, then jumped right into Jagannath, which looks to be another excellent collection of stories by Karin Tidbeck with, in a weird coincidence, an introduction by Elizabeth Hand!

The Death of Grass
The Once and Future King
Iron Council
The Dancer From Atlantis

Jealous, Kevin! I love Bujold. You may want to get your hands on Curse of Chalion, though, since it comes before Paladin of Souls so you'll be missing some back story. Maybe that doesn't bother you, but I always hate reading books out of order :)

It does not matter since I was missing the first book when I read my last two trilogies. Also I only got Miles Errant, I planning to read next week, which is volume 7-9 in the series.
Also I have a friend that always reads out of series order.

My brain just does not work that way... too linear, I guess!

As you folks have seen I have been on a Rebus mystery jag recently well I am reading another
The Hanging Garden

Not to point out the obvious but whats the hurry. If you haven't had the pleasure of reading her books why are you so keen on the signing?

Well, its always nice to get books signed by the author if you have the opportunity.
I finished The Demolished Man last night, and now I'm about to start Lois Lowry's Messenger, which is the third book of her Giver series. I have loved The Giver for years and re-read it frequently, and liked Gathering Blue, the second one, well enough. She's just come out with a fourth book in the series and I heard her interviewed about it on NPR, which inspired me to take the third one out of the library so I can read the new one at some point.
If it's anything like the first two, I'll finish it in a couple of days, then I guess back to Dresden to give the series one more shot before I give up on it...from what I've heard, it really gets good starting in book four. If I don't like it any better than I did the first three, then I won't bother continuing after that. We'll see.

I actually read The Giver in the Fourth Grade, then the class went to see a play version of The Giver (my class went to see a lot of plays based on the book we read in class that year). I hate the book, even when I read it back then because it went against even then, but a lot more now my political views and views on the world.
Just finished Harmony... meh. Now finishing up Fuzzy Nation by John Scalzi... such a fun read! Going to read Old Man's War next

I suspect he may have felt guilty about the other two books I've been working my way through. We made a bet and I lost so I had to be the one to read the two game tie-in books for backstory/lore purposes. Upside, some rather humorous lines. Downside, humorous lines alone do not make a good book.
Well, I finished BOTM The Demolished Man and A Crown of Swords, Wheel of Time series read in another group. Not sure what will be next.

Now I am reading The Yiddish Policemen's Union by a favorite author Michael Chabon

I've picked up a few of those books at used book stores. How are they?
I decided to return to the world of Vlad Taltos and just finished
Taltos, the first of 2 books in The Book of Taltos. I'm now starting the other book in that omnibus, Phoenix. Happy to be back in this world!

Like all series, it has its ups and downs, but for the most part it is well written and engaging. It's a futuristic series. Many people believe it was the inspiration for "Castle," although that show is very tame compared to the "in Death" series.

Sounds good, thanks!

Started in on a Foundation book
Foundation and Earth

Ken, I like the Rebus books as well - was happy to see he decided to write another in the series after all, looking forward to reading it soon.
Loved the 2 book omnibus, The Book of Taltos!
But now it's back to the Wheel of Time with The Path of Daggers.

So I spent some time looking for something else
So I started in on The Years of Rice and Salt

And vice versa for me, lol.

I'm hoping to finish books 9 & 10 with enough time to then read the whole Percy Jackson series by the end of the year.

Robert, we don't condone self-promotion in this group. We wish you well, but please refer to the group FAQ.
Daniel, while I appreciate snark as much as (or more than) the next person, please just contact a mod if you see something that is at odds with group policy.
I'm deleting the past few messages so as to keep this thread on topic and cut down on potential piling on. But those involved know to what I'm referring.

I finished the fourth Dresden Files book and liked it a bit better than the first three. I will probably continue with the series someday, but I'm leaving it be for now and turning my kindle wi-fi back on to return it to the library!
Last night I started The Killing Moon and will pop into the group's discussion to participate belatedly!
