Diane U (djuseless) It's time to start nominations for December's Christian Fiction group read. Since there are so many wonderful Christmas books, I thought we should continue reading them in December too. Please list your nominations for Christmas reads for December:

Rules:
1. Nominations are open until the 14th of the month. I will let us know which book has "won" on the 15th.
2. Books must be Christian fiction, or "clean" fiction to be eligible for this read.
3. Books are chosen using Random.org to make it completely fair.
3. One nomination per person.

Nominations so far:

1. Baby, It's Cold Outside by Susan May Warren - Elizabeth
2. A Blue and Gray Christmas: Christmas Keeps Love and Hope Alive During War by Vickie McDonough - Lorie
3. A Patchwork Christmas: Three Christmas Romances with Bonus Handcraft Patterns and Cookie Recipes by Judith McCoy Miller - Barbara Ann
4. The Bridge: A Novel by Karen Kingsbury - Brittany
5. The Bridge: A Novel by Karen Kingsbury - Diane
6. The Bridge: A Novel by Karen Kingsbury - Becky

Diane U (djuseless) Oooh Brittany, I forgot that this was a Christmas story. I would like to nominate it as well!

I'm excited about it, too, but I was a little disappointed when I saw how short it was. It's more like a novella than anything and its in hardback! When she was published under Zondervan her books were direct to paperback...

I've noticed that a lot of Christmas novellas - especially from popular authors like Karen Kingsbury - are released as hardbacks. I like reading Christmas books, even shorter ones, but I can't afford to buy hardbacks, even for full-length novels!

Becky | 24 comments I would also like to nominate The Bridge.

Carole Jarvis I would love to read either A Patchwork Christmas or The Bridge, but I won't be able to get any 2012 books from my library for several months. Sorry, this is just an ongoing problem that I have. All nominees look great, though!

Oh no, Carole! Our library is pretty good about getting new books, I hate to hear yours isn't. Sounds to me like you need some early Christmas presents. ;)

Carole, I know how you feel, if I can't get a book cheap on Amazon Marketplace, borrow it from a friend or get in on NetGalley I have the same problem as my local libraries have an incredibly limited, outdated selection of Christian Fiction.

However, perhaps if you own an eReader and someone has the book on Kindle or Nook they can lend it to you, if a book you don't have access to is selected for our group read? I would offer but Kindle lending isn't activated in the UK yet :( There should be a post somewhere on the group about lending eReader books, and I know there's definitely an active one on the Christian Fiction Devourers group, which is a lot bigger.

Carole Jarvis Rachel, possible lending is a great idea, hadn't thought of that. The Bridge isn't lendable, but A Patchwork Christmas is, so I'll look for the Kindle thread.

Brittany, if a library in my county purchased a book, I could easily request and get it fairly quickly. But most Christian fiction purchases are outside my county, and that's the problem. Libraries won't lend them outside their county for 6-8 months, probably to give their own residents first access. So while I have access to almost anything I'd like to read, I have to wait a while.

Diane U (djuseless) Today is the last day for nominations. Rachel will be selecting December's group read tomorrow!

Rachel Brand (pixieauthoress) And December's group read will be...

#6: The Bridge: A Novel by Karen Kingsbury, nominated by Becky!

Becky | 24 comments For those who are a part of NetGalley The Bridge is still available on there.

I put this one on hold at my library.

Rachel Brand (pixieauthoress) Okay, I just about had a heart-attack when I searched for Karen Kingsbury in my online library catalog and they're ordering in TWO copies of The Bridge! Not to my local library, but still, somewhere in our region. British libraries rarely have any new Christian Fiction, so this is BIG. I might not get it before Christmas if it's only on order, but we'll see :)

Diane U (djuseless) Rachel, it is still available over on Net Galley.

I know, but I've not been doing any reviews on my personal blog since the summer and someone's already reviewed it for TCM, so I can't do a proper review for it, so I'd feel guilty if I requested it and wasn't able to post a review. Plus, I still have three reviews to write before Christmas. It would be quite nice if I could get this one from the library and just read it for fun :)
