New York: The Novel- I haven't read it yet to say why I choose this one except that I have heard good things about it and I have it on my shelf to read still. He also has London: The Novel

Nice, I like it
Nice, I like it

It's set in New Orleans and really is more about the people and the city and the mentality there. It has one of the most annoying characters I ever encountered, but somehow you still can't put it down. It has very funny parts and very difficult parts, but over all, it's really worth it.
This is one of the love-it-or-hate-it books, so I don't blame people if they don't like it.

The book was also the inspiration (or at least part of the book) for the film Cabaret (1972) for which Liza Minnelli won an Academy Award, playing Sally.

I have searched for a nomination that could rival the brilliance of
The Shadow of the Wind, but I cannot find one.
EDIT: I stand by my earlier statement, but to offer another option, I nominate Midnight in the Garden of Good and Evil. It reads like literary crime fiction, but it's a true story, and the city and citizens of Savannah are the stars of the book.

Sounds interesting. I think I'd like to try that one.

Specific City. You need nominate a book, tell us which city it is set in (has to be a real city) and why you choose it.
For example here is my nominations;
The Shadow of the Wind (set in Barcelona) and the reason I nominate this book is because this is an amazing book about being obsessed with this book. Also this book covers so many different genre styles there is something in it for everything
