Okay, it's getting pretty late in the month, so I thought I would pose a question to you all who have read the book. I'm hiding it because it involves spoilers, so be forwarned! (view spoiler)[

The solution proposed by the foster parents of Noah's brothers, is that Noah stop challenging their pursuit of adoption, and in return they will give him unlimited visitation rights, basically trying to include him in their family. But having some experience with adoption myself, I was disappointed that they did not propose actually adopting Noah. You can certainly adopt someone of any age, even adults, and I felt that it would more accurately solve Noah and his brother's problem of "wanting to be a family again", instead of solving their secondary problem, "wanting to see each other more often." Adoption agencies often take extra steps to try to keep siblings together when possible, and the foster parents could certainly afford it - Noah had his own income and the foster parents' house had two guest rooms for Pete's sake!

Does anyone else think this would be a wonderful solution? Do you think it might happen in the future of these characters or do you think everyone is so blinded by Noah being independent that they don't think he needs to be adopted? Would switching families sacrifice too much of his newfound brother/sister relationship with Beth/Isaiah, or is that not a problem because Noah's foster parents have no interest in adopting anyway? I think that's wonderful idea. I never would have thought of that solution, I'm not sure how it would work for Noah... Like you said he seems really independent and suddenly being in that kind of situation might not be easy to adapt to.

I enjoyed this book very much :) (view spoiler)[It would be a plausible solution yet…. I don't think Noah would have actually agreed to this in this book. He is very independent, proud, and angry so for his bros parents to try and adopt him would have probably caused more friction. Towards the end of the book maybe he would have considered it but still couldn’t see Noah actually agree to it. Also, the parents were afraid of him... they thought he was unstable and dangerous, so I am sure they weren't thinking of adopting Noah at all. I wouldn't see it as switching families nor could I see Noah living with them even if they adopt. (hide spoiler)]
