If a vampire doesn't use his penis for a century, will it fall off?
Well I think Edward probably used it, you know...alone. But honestly I did always kind of wonder about the whole vamp bodily functions thing. LMAO thanks for posting.

They need blood to survive, but the blood doesn't need to circulate through their bodies to survive because their bodies no longer need nutrients to be delivered to different parts of the body.
Because blood is only a matrix, it's not necessary if you don't need nutrients or oxygen delivered to your body parts.
I don't know anything about The Vampire Diaries anatomy, though. It could be the same, it could be different.

Their venom is an adhesive.

Steph. myers vamps are weird though in a sense that they are described more like statues.
Exactly!dude the makeup was is so bad.

Again, why would they even need erections? Erections aren't required to have sex. Not even for humans.

It is implied that they had penetrative sex. He didn't ejaculate and then stuff it inside Bella. That is a ridiculous notion. He has no way to get an erection and venom doesn't hold DNA, no matter what Meyer's fail!science says. venom is poisonous and if it was ejaculated into Bella's body then it should've turned her, not impregnate her.

I think Freud would have to say a word or two about that. :D
Actually:
I think that, according to Louise J. Kaplan, he did say a word of two about that.

Yet AGAIN, WHY would Edward need an erection to have sex?
You guys don't seem to know the purpose of an erection. The only purpose is to make sex easier. to protect the nerves from pain caused by pressure. Since Edward is already hard all over, he does not NEED protection from Bella's pressure.
Men (real men in the human world that actually exist) don't even NEED erections to have sex. Real life men who suffer erectile dysfunction have been doing it for years. It's just not as enjoyable because there is some pain associated.
Also, take into consideration that's it's okay for folklore to change from story to story. That's why it's folklore, not folkfact. If you read Stephenie's website, ten you'd know why not all venom is poisonous.

Maybe its because of how I understand it, maybe it's because I just lack information. If so, explain it to me. If they have penetrative sex, how does he not need an erection to have sex with her? If you say that he doesn't need one, then that implies to me that you believe that he can't have an erection or just doesn't need one, making it seem like he has erectile dysfunction. Explain to me, I'm all ears; how can he have penetrative sex with her if he has no erection?
Also, I'm well aware what her site says, what it doesn't say is how it's possible for venom to carry DNA when it doesn't. They are 100% venom when it comes to liquid, their venom turns people, not impregnate them.
Also, I want to make it apparent that I'm saying penetrative sex, not just sex period. I know that to have sex you don't NEED an erection as their are many ways to have sex, but he penetrated Bella and impregnated her. If you have an explanation then explain it to me. How is it probable for him to penetrate her when he has no way to get an erection?

I already know that he can't attain erections. I never said, or implied, that he could.
I'm not saying Edward has ED, I'm saying that he doesn't need one, the same way a guy with ED doesn't really need one for any purpose besides protection from pain.
Edward can have penetrative sex without an erection by inserting his penis into her vagina, then moving it in and out. The same way basic sex works.
If you want a well thought out explanation on the topic, try this.

I just want to point out that this 'busts the myth' that an erection isn't needed to orgasm, which I acknowledged. This article explains very thoroughly that you can still have fun even if you don't have an erection. This article doesn't explain how its possible to have penetrative sex when the man doesn't have an erection which is what I wanted you to explain since it seems that you believe that this is something that a person can't argue about since an erection isn't needed.
Sure, he can just put it in and move, but if he's not erect then it'll fall out constantly and that would be awkward. Awkward sex may seem like a kink to some people, but awkward sex isn't fun to have, especially if it's someone's first time. What I'm saying is that he needs one to have penetrative sex with her, and I don't see how he could have that type of sex with her if he isn't erect.

It's simple, if he doesn't pull out too far, it won't fall out.
Even erect ones will fall out if you move too far away, correct?

It's their firmness, for a lack of better word- that keeps it inside their partner. Flabby flesh that isn't hard wouldn't stay in. It would just slip out on its own when he tries to thrust. And that's awkward.

I think the "flabbiness" would make it complicated for two vampires, but since Bella is several times more "flabby" than Edward, in comparison he's rather solid, and it would work itself out.
I'm not completely sure.

Are you trying to say that because he's as hard as a statue that that covers for him? Honestly, I have no clue what you're trying to convey.

But it went into his stomach, how would it circulate from his stomach? How would it circulate period if he has no heart to do the circulating?

Lol, that's a funny image!

Maybe it's just really, really, really small so no one notices?

I sort of thought that vampires having sex with humans has happened in other books besides Meyers. The Sookie Stackhouse series for one. The House of Night for another. Why isn't anyone bashing those series for "doing the impossible"?

Well, I can't vouch for any other vampire novel where vampires have sex because I haven't read any, sadly. The problem with this series is that Meyer tried to explain too much with science that she didn't understand when she should have left it as is.

I agree. Though I did appreciated the effort of trying to come up with fake-science that supported why her vampires were so, it would've been better (I think) if she didn't.
And the goodreads' coolest convo continues.
I agree too, the characterization of Twilight vamps is just not exciting!

Well, you nailed it, so it can't be too confusing.

But that would mean that he's hard all the time.

I almost needed to change my pants after reading that I laughed so hard!!! Seriously. I peed a little.

There are a lot of other vampire series where the vamps have a heartbeat and erections aren't an issue. My favorite series like that is Laurell K. Hamilton's Anita Blake series. She explains the mechanics of it in detail. The vamps have a heartbeat when they want one or after they feed. They can't get erect unless they feed and have sufficient blood pressure to necessitate a heartbeat.
Anyway.. it's just easier for vamps to have a heartbeat if an author is going to make their characters have sex.

Indeed it does."
Hah, I can now imagine if Edward's penis froze while it wasn't erect, it'd just be like having sex with a walnut. Shrivelled but hard.

That would explain the pained expression on his face for four movies.

I have no idea whatsoever, but like the way people are actually arguing in this debate.
On similar lines i have always wondered that what would happen 'If a vampire bit a Zombie'? Anyone? :)

So, if a vampire doesn't use his penis for a long time, like a century or so, there is no blood circulation there. If there is no blood circulation, will necrosis kick in? You know, will it shrivel and fall off?
