Hyperion, Endymion and the Fall of Hyperion by Dan Simmons are some of the most amazing SF books I have read in an Age....He's a really good writer though some of his material is very dark...He wrote a novel about Mark Twain in Hawaii and Pele but I can't remember the title (something with fire in it)
