SOLVED. Short story- haunted chest of drawers. [s]

Years ago I read a short story about a haunted chest of drawers that would trip people. The owner realized it was harmful and decides to donate it to a museum if she died of natural causes. She made it a point to say this in front of the chest of drawers so that it would understand not to hurt her. It was a bizarre story but I would love to read it again. It seems like I read this in a magazine in the early 90's.

Any idea if it was a general interest magazine or a literary magazine?

If I had to guess, it was probably a magazine like Redbook or something that my mom had around the house. Could have possibly been a Readers Digest or something similar.

Could it be from Alison Lurie's short story collection, Women and Ghosts: Tales? I found a review on LA Times from the 90s reviewing it.
