Becky (beckyofthe19and9) Look at you go!! I told you that you would pass me!

message 152: by Kandice (new)

Kandice I am pretty certain it's temporary, though;)

message 153: by Kandice (new)

Kandice Loved The Gunslinger this time around. I am so happy I decided (with a little nudge;) to read these again. Well, I never actually finished the entire series, but will this time.

JG (Introverted Reader) I can't believe you haven't read the entire series, Kandice. Aren't you a huge SK fan? I hope you enjoy them this time around! How far did you get before?

message 155: by Eric (new)

Eric | 382 comments I'm a huge fan of the Dark Tower series. Don't give up on reading them.

message 156: by Kandice (new)

Kandice When I read each of the first three there was a terrible trajedy in my life at the same time. Bad timing all around and made me reluctant to read anymore. It's been years, so I am very, very happy to start again.

message 157: by Rachel (new)

Rachel | 310 comments They just keep getting better and better...I read Wizard & Glass (book 4) for 4 hours once without looking up once. Had immense eye strain and a headache after for a while but oh welll... :)

message 158: by Kandice (new)

Kandice I'm reading a McCullough right now, but needed a little "light" graphic action after Gunslinger, hence the two at the end. They were short so I only counted them as half.

message 159: by Kandice (new)

Kandice The McCullough was a five star read for me. They always are. I'm reading a "little" book and then maybe The Drawing of the Three. I'm not sure how far I should space the series.

Not at all. Well, I never do. I read them back to back. I love it. It's not like reading, and more like falling into Roland's world. You should read them that way. Start to finish. It's really worth it!

message 161: by Rachel (new)

Rachel | 310 comments I agree with Becky. Space them only as far apart as you need time to get your hands on the next one. This is how I went to Borders too much last summer.

She already has them all I believe. So no excuses there!

message 163: by Becky (new)

Becky (beckyofthe19and9) 73?!?! Look at you go. I TOLD you that you would blow me out of the water!

message 164: by Kandice (new)

Kandice I am very into The Drawing of the Three and I am loving, loving, loving it!!!!!!!!

Rachel | 310 comments Kandice wrote: "I am very into The Drawing of the Three and I am loving, loving, loving it!!!!!!!!"

That book is awesome...glad you're enjoying it Kandice!

message 166: by Kandice (new)

Kandice I am beginning to see that they are all going to be awesome. I just read them in the wrong mood/mind frame before. I should have KNOWN that, since King can do no wrong as far as I'm concerned.

message 167: by Rachel (new)

Rachel | 310 comments I think Gunslinger is rough because Roland is hard character to like and it's mostly just him until he meets Jake. The other characters are more likable and they make you root for Roland to succeed.

message 168: by Kandice (new)

Kandice Well, you and Becky both thought I should read them straight through, but I was planning on peppering other books in. As I become more involved, I may not be able to wait...

Man, King is such a time suck for me. He writes fast, but I should probably be thankful he doesn't write any faster than he does, or I would have NO life! LOL

message 169: by Kandice (new)

Kandice I finished! I want to read the third in the series, but I really do need to fit a few books in between. I think I'll choose something short;)

JG (Introverted Reader) Glad you're enjoying this time, Kandice!

:(
Read them straight through!! You won't regret it!

message 172: by Rachel (new)

Rachel | 310 comments Yes read them straight through, missy! hehe

message 173: by Kandice (new)

Kandice The Last Days was a complete waste of time. FINALLY... I can continue with Roland on his quest!!!!

message 174: by Becky (new)

Becky (beckyofthe19and9) YAY!

message 175: by Allison (new)

Allison (inconceivably) cool :)

message 176: by Eric (new)

Eric | 382 comments Keep tagging along on your quest with the gunslinger. It only gets better and better.

message 177: by Kandice (new)

Kandice I started The Waste Lands in earnest this morning. Hooray!!!

message 178: by Becky (new)

Becky (beckyofthe19and9) I have a feeling that you will especially love W&G. (And then after that one, you can read Gunslinger Born!)

message 179: by Kandice (new)

Kandice Iam really loving the DT series, but...it's kindof painful to read. I don't mean because it's a struggle, but because I am invested in the characters now. They are going through hard things and so I keep reading a section...putting it down...miss them...pick it up...it's sad...I put it down...It's taking a long time.

I think I will take a little break for a book or two after this one. I am anxious to get through W&G though, because I want to read the comic.

message 180: by Becky (new)

Becky (beckyofthe19and9) Oh, hmm... Things don't really get any easier for them. But it's so good, and the end of the series is, in my opinion, a PERFECT ending, even though a lot of people hated it. But I think it's worth it. I'm sorry you're not enjoying it more. :(

message 181: by Kandice (new)

Kandice I'm enjoying it plenty! STOP thinking that. I just find it on the verge of painful to continue.

I finished Wastelands, but am going to read a little fluff before continuing.

message 182: by Kandice (new)

Kandice I just finished a couple of graphic novels I was looking forwward to and started the Percy Jackson series. I need to read one more before Wizards and Glass.

message 183: by Becky (new)

Becky (beckyofthe19and9) Miss you!

message 184: by Allison (new)

Allison (inconceivably) yeah, me too! Don't make us come over there...!

message 185: by Kandice (new)

Kandice Sorry girls. I always miss you too, but it sure feels good to know it's reciprocated!

I am loving Wizards and Glass. It's such a beautiful story, and even though the theme is the same, quite a break from the gloom and doom of Wastelands! I keep saying it, but I have to say again...I HATE, HATE, HATE the illustrations. They especially don't go with this installment. This one needed more romantice renderings like the first.

message 186: by Kandice (new)

Kandice I feel I am becoming immersed in the Dark Tower series! It's such a beautiful, heartbreaking epic.

I am obviously going to hit my goal of 100, so I think I'll try to read a few more things outside my comfort zone.

Next up: Dangerous Liasons

message 187: by Kandice (new)

Kandice Okay, I have begun the fourth Maximum Ride book and an Agatha Christie, but as soon as those quickies are finished...Back on the DT train. I said train, not Mono, although probably not that much safer;)

message 188: by Kandice (new)

Kandice Finished Max, and despite others views, I loved it! I feel silly for waiting so long to read it just because others seemed to dislike it.

Now I need to finish my Christie and then....Back to Roland and Ka-tet.

message 189: by Becky (new)

Becky (beckyofthe19and9) I really don't see how you can interrupt the journey like this. I have to read them back to back all the way through.

*eyes you suspiciously*

Are you working for the Crimson King???

message 190: by Kandice (new)

Kandice Of course NOT! Even if I have no way to reach 19 with my name, I am still...well, NOT working for HIM! LOL

I just have so many books people want me to read. If I want them to return the favor, I have to be willing...

message 191: by Becky (new)

Becky (beckyofthe19and9) You could... Uhh, you could tell them you've promised me the next three books, and I'll cry if you break your promise!

They'd believe it. Everyone knows how immature I am!!

message 192: by Kandice (new)

Kandice As soon as I finish this Christie the DT is next. Promise, cross my heart, hope to die, stick a needle in my eye! Pinky swear even!!!!!

message 193: by Becky (new)

Becky (beckyofthe19and9) ALL of the DT books??? NO more interruptions? O_O

message 194: by Kandice (new)

Kandice Ummmm....well, no. I DID order the rest of the graphics from the library this morning and am relying on you to tell me when to read each:)

message 195: by Becky (new)

Becky (beckyofthe19and9) Oh... I dunno... I haven't read any other graphics.

message 196: by Becky (new)

Becky (beckyofthe19and9) Be back soon... going out to dinner! :D

message 197: by Kandice (new)

Kandice Okay, I'll just have to figure it out myself, then! :P

I'm AM reading them fairly quickly! It's not like it's taking me a year or anything...

message 198: by Becky (new)

Becky (beckyofthe19and9) *grumble*

message 199: by Kandice (new)

Kandice HEY!!!!! I've only really asked you (begged!) to read a short little book! (POTA)

On the bright side, I have only a few pages left of my Christie. I have Wolves all ready to go. I may, just may, have to go right into Song O S, because I think you said that's your favorite.

message 200: by Becky (new)

Becky (beckyofthe19and9) No, SOS isn't my favorite either! LOL I do like it a lot though. I just want you to finish so that we can talk about it!!
