I've just posted the poll to vote for October's genre. As Halloween is coming up, I'll be voting for Horror/Gothic/Ghost stories myself.....
Liz, I am a 22 year old british writer Jane Brooke, 9 new books at amazon in 1013...How do I get one of my books into your poll, or is this the wrong page to ask. CHeers Jane
Hi Jane, we don't vote for specific books, but the genre instead. once the genre is selected, we all compare notes/ make recommendations, then actual book choice is down to the individual.
Thank you, I appreciate that Cheers jane
Just over 24 hours until the poll to choose the next genre closes. With Halloween at the end of the month Horror/gothic/ghost stories are way ahead...
Do I take it, this one's just not your cup of tea Ian? I'm amazed how I can usually twist the genre to find a book that I like (except when it comes to poetry, that's the genre I really struggle with - I blame school...)
Nor my cup of coffee Liz....but that's the point isn't it??, so after perusing my kindles, I think I may go for
by Stephen King.

I'm undecided so far - might try and find a nice short ghost story - any suggestions?

Have you read The Woman in Black, short spooky ghost story and not the same as the film.
There's also M.R.James Oh whistle and I'll come to you my lad in

I noticed this, but thought it might be too scary for my wimpy tastes....definatly a bargain though....

I was just thinking about it Bill, but I can't get to my PC until tomorrow (& you can't post polls from a mobile - yet). So I'll do it in the morning.

The November poll is up and open to receive your votes :)

Where is the poll posted? There was no link from the email notifying members about it, I have looked on the Genre Challenge thread but can't find it!

You won't be able to access it from a mobile device (for some reason they haven't included polls in the app). Go to the website instead. It's both at the bottom of the UK Bookclub home page and, as Helen says, look top right, and click on polls.

Yes, spies/espionage for November. I'm not near the PC so will have to set up the new thread later...
We could do a Christmas theme for December, though I'd need some suggestions....

Liz there are lots of books with Christmas in the title. Shall we go for it? Oh, does watching Bond, James Bond count as spy?

Bugger democracy. I'd just do it Liz.......maybe as a 12 days of Xmas special added on to the December pick, then the curmudgeonly amongst us can just ignore it as best we can.
