I am thinking of a book which I can not remember the title. I would like to read it and am hoping that someone here may identify it.

I recieved it from the library around 2002 started to read it but did not finish it.

It was a novel whose theme was game theory, mathematics . I believe the participants were either college students, recent college grads or young professionals.

It involved challenges, serious $ upsides with winning and serious downsides of losing. It was sort of like a Fight Club. (secret game played within society)

I think it started off taking place in the US but may the action may have traveled to some posh international locations as well. The main character was a recent student of game theory.

It was not science fiction.

I can't identify it from past Amazon wish lists or library records.

I'm greatful for any help I recieve. Any ideas??
