The blade of Hades is made from the key of hades.
Remember Festus, Bekendorf and Selena became more important figure heads in the heros of olympus.
So those short stories can become important
Festus played an important part on the Lost Hero.Selena and Bekendorf played a major part in Last Olympian. And were set up as bench marks in Lost Heros.
Both these were more developement came from a supplementary story source the demigod files.
So far the Blade of Hades story is completely left out.
We bearly have any referance to that story. So house of hades might actually make the blade of hades story more important.
The keys of hades is a symbol of hades.
Hades actualy has three symbols.
His forked staff, His Helm and his keys to tartarus.
The keys to tartarus is now a stygian iron sword.
There is only two people who can use stygian iron. Nico and Hades.

Oh my gods. When the Lost Hero came out, I was curious about that, but I'd forgotten about the short stories. You may be on to something there...

Well, Rick Riordan promised, in his blog, that we would definitely see Percy or Annabeth in Tartarus.
isn't it amazing how demigods can be in Tartarus I mean it's only for gods and monsters' right? :DDD
I'm thinking Nico will be the one to remain in the Underworld when all is said in done. Not sure why but that's my gut feeling.

Even if Riordan had wanted to make that happen, which would be a lazy Deus ex machina, Hades/Pluto has divine schizophrenia, and isn't capable of doing much (It took so much of his power just for him to (view spoiler)).
