Combine Editions

@Amanda - I know but they have the same ISBN13 and publisher (and format).

EDIT: Okay, so you can't actually see that because GR doesn't let you add the same ISBN on more than one edition but the ISBN13 listed in the second edition is the first one's ISBN13 too.
Also, just to make sure you know, Electric Monkey is just an imprint of Egmont so that's how the publisher is the same.

So please could a super-librarian delete this edition so it can be merged with the more popular one?

Then one needs to be marked as an alternate cover edition (done), not deleted. They are both valid editions.

Sorry, I haven't really explained this properly. :)
What I meant was I did half a job before realising that I needed to be a super librarian to finish it. Sort of stupid of me. I'll undo what I've done and ask a super librarian to do the whole thing. Actaully, I'll do that in the morning, I'm a bit tired now.

Hi, and thanks for your help. I've noticed that there are several edition showing for one book: two are the same ebook, and one is the print book. I'd like the two ebooks to be under one edition, but all three to have the updated cover picture if that's possible.

Hi--I've been adding books that I own--some I'm providing pictures for, others just the synopsis, and others I'm adding the book. The problem is with The Doll of Lilac Valley and The Doll of Lilac Valley both are the same book--the difference is in the illustrator. Do we leave these seperate or do we combine them or what? Thanks for any help with this, as this is the first time I've had it happen to me.

actually started life as a paperback (created by the ingram script) and you "converted" the book to a Kindle edition in November. The other Kindle edition already existed at that time so was it necessary to remove a valid paperback and duplicate the Kindle editions?

This is complicated. By deleting the paperback edition (thereby contravening half of the Goodreads rulebook) you actually triggered the update scripts to re-add the paperback.

I think the easiest fix could be to:
1) revert the illegal Kindle back to its original paperback
2) then merge the new paperback into the old paperback

that should leave us with 1 paperback, 1 kindle, 1 generic ebook, (1 deleted and gone) and everyone back in their own beds.

The people who shelved either of those editions since November this year might have the wrong edition on their shelves but that should be a smaller number than were disjointed by your conversion from paperback to kindle.

Librarians: any comments?

Geoffrey, don't be tempted to convert any more books like that. It often means duplicates and it always means trouble. Post in this group and any problems will get fixed.
