5:42PM Just had dinner, I am reading a bit, having some coffe, and then gonna work out. Had a pretty busy day today. Look forward to a relaxing evening.

00:38amAbout to have a quick shower and then go curl up in bed with The Darkest Evening of the Year for half an hour and then sleep :) x
8:05 pm just got back from the hospital and have 8 new needle holes in me. Looking forward to finishing my book tonight and watching a little supernatural.

lightning is one of my fave books of all time and made me an instant koontz fan.
get well Jessie!
8:11PM Just worked out WOOT was awesome. Got my shower, now gonna settle in to some Thomas Harris. Finished Crank before my workout, was a good read. Excited for the rest of the series.
Ouch Jessie that does not sound like fun!

9:48pm. Ready for a nice 4-day weekend. I am whooped! I should have 2 books finished by the end of it!! :D
Jessie, sorry to hear that. I always look like a pincushion after a hospital visit, too. The bruise from my IV on the 29th April only JUST finally went away TODAY. Hope you're feeling better.11:11 p.m. EST Slept all day again. I think I'm so tired because I haven't eaten in a couple days other than snacky type things, but I'm in the mood for something very specific that we don't have... I hate that. Anyway, then I finished the 2nd book in the Scarlett Bernard series by Melissa F. Olson, which is scheduled for release in June, and it was awesome. I'm about to start The Key by Simon Toyne, or will once I go through this huge pile of e-mail that stacked up today... O.O

I need to do this Chuck. Non-fiction is good stimulation for the brain.

12:37 a.m. and was so excited today to find
in my mailbox. I won this in a book giveaway on GR's and can't wait to start reading it. Plan to drink some coffee and read some on The Talisman and Celebrations: Rituals of Peace and Prayer before going to bed. Once again, have a very busy day tomorrow.

12:52 a.m. EST almost done with e-mail and then I need to restart my computer; it's been bugging me to do so since yesterday and I keep forgetting! Thinking about fixing some mac-n-cheese since there's still no ground beef...

congrats on winning that book :D- I entered that giveaway too-sounds like a great story
looking forward to hearing what you think of it.
I was reading some of the reviews Rachel and it's really a mixed bag. Won't get to it for a week or two, but I will definitely post a review.
3:13 a.m. EST Just turned on my computer to answer the burning question: would a toad eat a snail? There's a toad that's been living on our back porch; I caught it the other day and checked it out. Cute thing. Anyway, I guess Dmitry had noticed a dearth of snails (the dog will eat them if he sees them, weird little critter) so he had wondered but never bothered to check. Earth-shaking importance, I know...
Sorry Katy but I couldn't help but chuckle at this one. I have gotten up in the middle of the night numerous times to research a burning question, mostly of little to no real significance.

I do the same thing all the time. It is really annoying at times because I can't sleep until I find out the answer. Now, I've got to know - Will a toad eat a snail? I would say yes if I were to take an educated guess, but you never know.
Thanks Katy. Don't know about watching the YouTube video, but it is interesting.
Hehe. I didn't watch it either, just noticed it was there. If I go to YouTube I usually am trapped for ages going "Ooh, that looks interesting..."
I sometimes like to visit websites I found using a search of "random bits of knowledge" or something similar. It always comes back with some pretty interesting stuff.
9:12AM Beautiful morning and just relaxing. Settled for a cup of honey tea rather than coffee. Gonna read some of my book this morning. It is pretty good.
11:18 AM And again I'm wondering what to read next even though I'm not done with my book and have at least 200 books on my TBR. Sometimes I'm just not in the mood for anything on my TBR. I would like another really good non-fiction book...
Chuck, the best nonfiction I've read in the past couple months is
. I'm intrigued by stuff having to do with Nazi Germany and this fit the bill.
Janie and Kathryn, I'm envious of your meeting! Have fun!
Congratulations, Jordan!! Two new cousins; how awesome!
Cindy, congratz on the book win!
Jessie, I can identify with being a pincushion. Hope you have recovered and are not too sick!
1:35PM on a cloudy Sat. afternoon. A lazy day, spent the morning reading and am now checking out GR and waiting for baseball. It's been kind of stressful with my son in the hospital, but I guess things are going as well as can be expected. He'll be in for at least another weak. Trying lots of meds, considering ECT. In many ways its a heartbreak, but we're making it through. On a positive note, my younger son graduates on the 19th with a master's degree from Case Western Reserve in Cleveland. He has his first job all lined up at the Cleveland Clinics. We are so proud! He's worked really hard. I won't be able to attend the ceremony due to my disabilities, but hub is going up for a 4-day weekend which should be awesome. It's been a while since I was on my own; should be interesting for me and the puppy.
Have a great day everyone!

Teri, I'm glad you are finding the silver lining in all this misery. Congrats to your son graduating with his master degree. That is a great accomplishment. Something to celebrate. 1:14PM haven't been around here much because my beautiful daughter decided yesterday was the day she was to be born. Gabriel Lynn was born yesterday at 6:22PM. She is beautiful and we are so happy. Needless to say, I won't be getting much reading in for a bit, but hoping to find some time to catch up with all of you later.
Hey, Chuck, you should try using a random keyword and doing a search on your bookshelves, see what comes up (If you have them all listed on Goodreads, that is) and try a "random read". As far as non-fiction books I've found really interesting, there is Demonology and Devil Lore, which is a two-volume set that can be picked up free on archive.org and there is British Goblins: Welsh Folk Lore, Fairy Mythology, Legends and Traditions, which I picked up free on Amazon. You could probably find it free on archive.org, too. You can find all kinds of cool stuff over there that is out of copyright. I love reading old stuff like that, you learn the coolest stuff before Political Correctness changed everyone's perception of the world. Or find a really old encyclopedia. Those are always fun to read. Have a good time!4:19 p.m. EST I crashed out around 5 a.m. and had to wake hubby to go to work at 10, then laid around snoozing the rest of the day until the dog's whining drug me out of bed to put him out. Of course it was well before he absolutely HAD to go out, but you know how dogs are... Anyway, just clearing out e-mail before I go to back to reading.
5:52 p.m. EST A friend is running games on Facebook; I had planned to log off and read but the books for prizes sound good, so I think I'll try to play along...
5:05 PM and I just finished what I thought was an amazing book, Marching Powder: A True Story of Friendship, Cocaine, and South America's Strangest Jail.
Thanks for the suggestions Terri and Katy. I like reading about all kinds of stuff but I'm just not sure what I'm in the mood for right now.
Kathryn I never heard back from you if the time was ok with Mark, so I did not plan on it. And I have been pretty busy today and did not have time to check GR. Sorry girl
Alondra: I was in Home Depot with my grandma and instantly thought or you when we were in all the gardening stuff. 7:18PM Got back from Walmary and Home Depot. Got my mom a Mother's Day present and card. I think she'll love it:) Now I'm going to bake a cake and make some brownies for Mother's Day tomorrow.
8:19PM Just had my work out, then shower and then I had a little boo boo session with myself because I miss my mom so very much. Tomorrow is such an important day and I wish my mom was here to celebrate with me.
Victor so proud of you for doing those things for your mom. There aren't too many teen boys that do. Always appreciate her, and make her feel special.

Know how you feel, Janie. Lost my mom in 2001, but at least this year I have a stepmother to wish a Happy Mother's day to. Sorry for your loss.10:28 p.m. EST Tried to take a nap, since there was quite a thunderstorm, but didn't manage to fall asleep, so back up and reading for awhile. Dmitry had a really long day today, so I'm guessing he'll come home and crash right away, and if so I'll try again.
10:56 p.m. and I have been running since 7:45 a.m. I am exhausted and have read absolutely nothing. BUT, lots of good things happened today and some not so good. Gonna post that stuff on my blog. Will try to read for an hour or so IF I can stay awake long enough.
Rest a bit, Cindy! Don't run yourself ragged!11:01 p.m. EST Just about finished clearing out my e-mail. Dmitry didn't receive my text so ... *sigh* No goodies. Dunno if he plans to log onto the computer or crash...
11:19pm- just checking into gr before I read for a while-not very happy with my book unfortunately.chris- congrats on the new baby :)
11:24 p.m. EST Just going to go and read for a bit and then try to sleep again. I"m just so tired lately...
Rachel wrote: "11:19pm- just checking into gr before I read for a while-not very happy with my book unfortunately.chris- congrats on the new baby :)"
Thanks Rachel, it is exciting, and we can't wait to bring our little girl home.
10:23PM and I'm just checking in. Miss all my friends here and thought I'd at least see how everyone is doing.
Janie and Katy I feel for your loss. I lost my grandma a few months ago and it is sad to think I won't be at least calling to wish her a Happy Mother's Day. I know this weekend has been very hard on my mom. In case I don't get to stop by tomorrow, Happy Mother's Day to all the moms on here. I hope your day is wonderful and relaxing.
11:48 p.m. and I'm too tired to read. Gonna set up my Galaxy Tab 2 and call it a night. Won't have a lot of time to read tomorrow either. Aghhhh! frustrating.
10:52PM Been sitting here reading, in the still of the night. So peaceful, so quiet. I hope that every mom on GR has a very blessed day tomorrow.
Cindy I understand! It does get frustrating when you don't get a chance to relax and read a bit. I have to be able to get some kind of reading in every day.

Hey, Chris - you were lucky to have her so long, though. I lost my maternal grandmother when I was 14 and my paternal one in my 20s, not that she'd had anything to do with me after I evilly divorced my first husband...It is so annoying when I can't read as much as I'd like, I so agree. With me rather than business it's more I'm often having fatigue issues and sleeping so much, but ...
12:20 a.m. Actually hadn't met to log back in but this book had mention of the name Godlewski and that it was so unpronounceable and I wanted to note in my review some of the crazy Polish names I've run across over the years. My hometown was mostly Polish, so I'm very familiar with crazy Polish names, and lots of them, like: Syvinski, Witkowski, Peplinksi, Goroski, Sokoloski, Jablonski, Kukoski... Then there were the Norwegian names, like Mjolsness, Sjoquist... Gotta love the sorts of names you run across in small towns in Montana and North Dakota!
