Kathryn (kcanty313) | 1870 comments 11:28 PM. Taking a break from my book for a few minutes. My eyes are getting sleepy, and I am kind of wanting to go to bed, but my husband has a movie on full blast volume, and our living room is next to our bedroom, so I don't think I could go to bed. Guess I will keep on reading....:)

12:33 a.m. and I'm really surprised that I've not found it necessary to take a break yet. I have been taking a few minutes here and there to check new posts. I'm just gonna read as much as I can tonight since I can sleep all day tomorrow if I want.

11:46PM Finished Reached and ready to start The Doorkeepers. Graham Masterton is about the best paranormal thriller writers that I have read. I love his stuff. So looking forward to this read.

9:31AM Had a very restful sleep. I love when that happens. My rest day for insanity, I love that too. LOL Expecting grandbaby this evening. So I am planning on a lot of reading today until then.

Kathryn you should definitely read Thr3e. It is a very fast read too. Everyone have a great morning!

Chris (cbrunner11) | 674 comments 11:00AM and I'm checking in here to see what everyone is up to. Working today so I hope time flies. Will try to get a little reading in but I brought my iPad to work so I could watch the Blues game in a half hour.

Hope everyone has a great Sunday.

12:11pm, a lazy Sunday just waiting for baseball to come on. Been off the grid for a few days. Struggling with my old friend depression and struggling to find something good to read. Just don't have much interest in anything. Trying to perk up today. Headed to the kitchen to bake off some basil chicken for Greek pizza tonight. Hope you all are having a better day than I am!

MMM YUM Terri! Greek Pizza! Can I have some? LOL I just told hub last night that Pizza sounds so good!

message 3417: by Chris (new)

Chris (cbrunner11) | 674 comments Thanks Janie, I really hate working Sundays, because they tend to drag on more than any other day. It will be nice to get home to the family and make dinner and relax.

Terri, I'm so sorry to hear you are struggling with depression. I do as well from time to time, so I can somewhat understand. I hope you do perk up, and if you ever need to talk I will gladly listen.

12:27 p.m. and I allowed myself to just sleep until I woke up today (almost noon). I really need to do that once in a while. I plan on spending a couple hours reading and I'm gonna post some thoughts for upcoming buddy reads on "What are you reading" if anyone is interested. Hope everyone has a wonderful day. It's gonna be almost 80 here today. Plan to sit outside for a bit to read.

message 3419: by [deleted user] (new)

1:50 p.m. OK, I've been catching up on posts, creating events, and haven't gotten any reading done. Signing off for now so I can actually force myself to read for a bit. Have some things to do tonight for a while. I get so caught up in reading posts and various other things that I forget I need to get some reading done.

message 3420: by Katy (new)

Katy (katyas-69) | 1731 comments I missed a BUNCH of posts; didn't receive notifications. Still have a lot to go through, but wanted to comment re: UBS (I assume this means Used Book Stores). Someone said they don't have any in their area. But do you have Goodwill, Salvation Army, Habitat for Humanity or other charity/resale shop? Because you can pick up a LOT of books at these sorts of places. My favorites are Goodwill and Habitat for Humanity, plus there is another we have associated with a church, and I can never remember the name... Anyway, when I last went on a book-buying spree round of those stores, I came home with 5 BOXES full of books after having spent about $150 (I'm talking about boxes larger than those used to hold copy paper), plus a few random bags. I wouldn't have thought to look there, but someone mentioned it. If you have any of those sorts of shops around, go check 'em out. You might be surprised. We do have one used book store here in town, but it prices its books significantly higher than Goodwill. Something to think about!

Okay, now to finish going through all these posts!

message 3421: by Katy (new)

Katy (katyas-69) | 1731 comments 2:37 p.m. EST I suspect the other day when GR was down the notifications became messed up, so I was "disconnected" from the thread. Anyway, I'm back. I've been trying to read the latest Peter F. Hamilton, Great North Road. I usually LOVE Peter F. Hamilton, but this one keeps sending me to sleep. I've been working on it since Friday morning and am only about a quarter of the way through! The last couple of days were lovely, warm and sunny, so I spent some time each day in the sun, but even more time sleeping and trying to find a comfortable position between Erasmus, who has been sleeping under the covers and stealing my knee pillow, and Tiger, who has been sleeping on my head. Then Fluff will wander in and wake me up by whining at me. LOL Little brat. I usually have to end up shutting him out so I can sleep for awhile, and hoping that Erasmus doesn't end up vomiting or Tiger doesn't end up deciding he REALLY has to pee but doesn't want to wake me and pees in here somewhere... But they're good cats and usually wait for me to let them out if they can. Today is cloudy and raining; it smells lovely; I usually keep incense burning, but I'm so enjoying the smell of the rain through the open window that I think I'll leave it for now.

Anyway, I'll continue to work on this book at least through my editing this week, but if this continues, this might end up being a DNF, if I can't finish it (or at least engage with it) by the time I'm doing with this week's editing. What's weird is that it isn't a bad book, despite a few issues I've had, so I have no idea what's causing me such lethargy.

2:06PM So I have been really enjoying The Doorkeepers, but then made a mistake and checked out The Quiet Game, just trying to get books and series in order that I want to read. So I started reading a bit of The Quiet Game and now well I guess I will try this read 2 books at once. I hate to try it though my brain was not made that way, but I am also hooked on the quiet Game since I got nosey about how it was gonna be. So we will see what happens.

message 3423: by Chris (new)

Chris (cbrunner11) | 674 comments I have been doing that too Janie. I keep checking books out from the library when I already have two going at once. At least mine are Graphic novels that I can sit down and read all at once, but it takes away from the other two.

Normally I have one audio and one book so it is easy to read the audio at work while I am doing stuff, but this time it is an actual book that I read at home, and a Kindle book I read on my app while slow at work. It is taking forever to get through these books.

message 3424: by Janie, Group Owner & Book Addict (new)

Janie Johnson | 6303 comments Mod
Yea Chris I don't normally do. I applaud those people that can do it and not get books mixed up. it is hard for me. I can read fast and retain information as long as there is nothing in my way. Just the way God made me. But I figured I would try it out and see if I can accomplish this. The Doorkeepers is very vivid and graphic to the mind, so it may not be to hard to focus with another book.

message 3425: by Chris (new)

Chris (cbrunner11) | 674 comments When I read two books at once I try to make sure they are really different. Like one Mystery and one Horror/suspense book so it is easy to keep plots and characters straight.

I tried 2 mysteries once and it was a horrible idea. I was so lost I had to put them both down read something else and then go back one at a time. Good luck Janie, hope you enjoy them both.

message 3426: by Janie, Group Owner & Book Addict (new)

Janie Johnson | 6303 comments Mod
Yea Chris I can understand that. It makes sense, These 2 are very different. One is a paranormal Thriller the other is a mystery/suspence. I am digging the character Penn cage a lot in The Quiet game, he is a great character.

Flea markets are a really good place to find books also.

message 3429: by Katy (new)

Katy (katyas-69) | 1731 comments Oh, yes, Cindy, flea markets totally are great places to find books! It can be tricky to comb all the booths looking for them, but fun.

I used to read up to four books at a time when I was in school. I'd had one upstairs for TV time, one by my bed for bedtime, one for riding the bus (it was over an hour each way), and one for in class after I finished the assignment. I could never do that now, my brain is too frazzled.

8:58 p.m. EST We just returned from a buffet dinner. I'm so stuffed I can barely breath! LOL I'm finally engaging with this book, so I'll be reading for awhile while I digest...

Yes, I lived 30 miles from town; we were the first ones picked up in the morning and last off at night, the overall ride was about 45 miles since we had to go the other side of the mountain (really just a big hill, but we called it a mountain). Picked up at 7:15 in the morning, at school about 8:20; picked up at 3:30 in the afternoon, home about 4:20 or so.

9:31 p.m. EST Just finished clearing out e-mail, and now I need to put up the computer. This will upset Tiger, since he just came in and happily settled down on my shoulder... He has the worst timing! Heh.

9:48 p.m. and just got home. Just caught up on posts and plan to read for a little bit tonight. Need to get to bed by 1 a.m. or so because I have a lot to do before work tomorrow. Never ending running! A constant. Makes me wish I were stranded on a deserted island with 1000 books sometimes.

12:30 a.m. and the battle of BOOKS vs BED has been going strong for about 30 minutes. It would appear by all accounts that BED has beaten BOOKS with a knockout punch to the face. Goodnight my friends!

message 3435: by Kathryn (new)

Kathryn (kcanty313) | 1870 comments 11:37 PM. It has been a busy day in my household. Had some shopping to do, (grocery shopping will have to wait until tomorrow because I was too tired), washed, dried, and ironed my husband's slacks and shirts, cleaned, cooked dinner, and now I am taking it easy.

message 3436: by GeneralTHC (new)

GeneralTHC 11:45 PM. I often read a lot of books at a time. I think for me, reading a book is sorta analogous to following a TV series in that it's no problem to keep up with the events of many shows. The only issue I have is wanting to read even more books but knowing I shouldn't because I'd never finish a book if I did. I guess that's like changing the channel constantly because you think something better may be on, lol; it's a good thing books will wait on ya.

message 3437: by Shell (new)

Shell (shellcampbell) | 757 comments That's awesome Rachel, I'm jealous as I desperately need a new laptop. I dropped mine about 2 weeks ago and it landed on the USB that was plugged into it and completely died. Thankfully my husband knows a lot about computers and was able to save the hard drive.

4.09pm and feeling really down in the dumps today for some reason. Haven't had the best day at work so I'm looking forward to going home and finishing my book.

message 3438: by Katy (new)

Katy (katyas-69) | 1731 comments 7 a.m. EST I'm really tired, but didn't manage to sleep very well thanks to spoiled cats being cats. I'm just up because Erasmus threw up and then everyone piled in here while I was wandering around. I'll probably go back to bed soon; this week's editing assignment isn't here yet, but I have a "work-in" I can work on for now while I e-mail my author to find out where the manuscript is, but first I need a decent nap!

7:39AM Kay left for school about 45 min ago. I had my breakfast, honey tea, and now doing my Monday laundry. Plan on finishing The Doorkeepers today. LOL I could have finished last night had I not been going in between 2 books. LOL But it is ok. I prolly wont try it again, but one never knows. Both are great writers and both are great stories so far. I love them. We have a beautiful morning here in Texas. Supposed to get pretty warm here today. Looking forward to later this week, we will be going to the UBS. My favorite place in the world.

Thank you Kathryn! I does indeed seem like a lot of people have been a little down lately. I'm doing OK today but had a rough day last week. It really means a lot to have good friends. message 3449: by Katy (new)

Katy (katyas-69) | 1731 comments 1:35 p.m. EST a late start today... I have several things to clear out before I can start editing. I'm almost halfway in this tome I've been reading, and disappointed I didn't manage to finish it in 3 days of reading! I guess I spent too much time sleeping. Anyway, the books around 950 pages, which I SHOULD be able to read in around 24 hours total reading time, but...

Anyway, sorry to hear that so many people are feeling down. I really know the feeling; fortunately I've been doing okay mood-wise for the last bit, but it can strike any time and I'm aware of that. Hopefully as the days lengthen here in the northern hemisphere those of us here will do better with more sun.
