Chris I agree. I dont work so I dont have a 'real' friends outside of the internet. All my good friends are online it seems. But you know what, I love it!

Kathryn (kcanty313) | 1870 comments Holly-No, I haven't read 1Q84 yet. Did you read it? If so, how was it?

Janie-I am so glad you said that because...well, you know how close we live to each other, and I didn't know if I should ever ask you to meet up at a bookstore some day. I have thought about it for a few months because I think we would have fun!!

Terri-Love you, too!!! I'm so glad you're apart of our group.

All-You guys are awesome. I'm so happy I know all of you. :)

message 2459: by Holly (new)

message 2462: by [deleted user] (new)

Kathryn, I also loved 1Q84. I think it's a book you either love or you just don't get it at all.

message 2463: by Holly (new)

Holly | 1184 comments Exactly Terri. I thought it was fabulous. I'm very much interested in reading more of his work.

message 2464: by Lee (new)

Lee (leeshirk) | 203 comments It is 10:30pm and I just finished Turtle Boy and now I have been reading the GR love fest! Lol Ya'll are great people. I must say since joining GR and finding you fantabulous people, I spend more time here than I do on FB. While I love my friends and family, it is nice to have people to discuss books with. I can count maybe 5 of my friends and family who actually read for the enjoyment of it. I find that very sad, I don't understand how people can hate to read or could care less if they ever picked up a book.

message 2465: by Katy (new)

Katy (katyas-69) | 1731 comments Oh, looks like I missed a bit somehow. Chris, congratulations on the upcoming arrival.

Terri, glad the root canal is over!

Kathryn, sorry your job isn't as good as you hoped; they rarely are, unfortunately, but it's hard to survive without one (I know, before I started the freelance editing I'd been almost 3 years with zero income).

Generally speaking, this is a really great group. When I first joined Goodreads back in 2011, I found one really good group, but quickly ran out of time to keep up with everyone due to my reviewing, and then editing. I obviously don't have as much time to keep up here as I"d like, either, but I've found this is a great place to come and remind myself not everyone on Goodreads is focused on negativity exclusively (I've managed to annoy most of those people off my feed anyway... they are so incredibly easy to annoy!). So I'm really glad I found this group. Hey, anyone who plans to come to Dragon*Con in Atlanta this Labor Day, definitely let me know so we can hook up! It's gonna be a blast, even if we do have to rent a wheelchair 'cause I can't stay on my feet that long!

10:33 p.m. EST I very reluctantly logged in to clear out e-mail after waking up from my nap, once I finished the chapter I was on. This is a really long book and I'll need to focus to finish it in time to read the third book before the end of the weekend! So, I'll probably not be stopping in as often for the next few days while I finish it. We're also very short of money, so I need to avoid seeing all this talk about food, since we have hardly any of that right now and it'll probably be a couple weeks before we will! :-)

message 2466: by Shell (new)

Shell (shellcampbell) | 757 comments Haha that did turn into a bit of love fest didn't it lol. It's great to hear that everyone means so much to each other. I know what you mean Lee - I spend all my online time on here these days and hardly use FB at all. I do have friends and family that like reading, but I think when it comes to books there's a real difference between liking and loving them. It's been awesome to meet other people that are as obsessed as me. People come to my house and think I'm a freak because I have books EVERYWHERE! They actually make jokes that my books are taking over my house and that I need to just have one room devoted to my books - they don't understand that I actually love being surrounded by them, but I know that you guys would all understand! I'm sure many of you are exactly the same :D

message 2467: by Holly (new)

Holly | 1184 comments Very well said Lee and I couldn't agree more. Aside from you guys and my hubby on occasion, no one in my family reads at all.

Sorry to hear that Katey. Hope everything works out!

Kathryn a meet up would be great since we are so close! You always say you wanna visit the Opera House(recycled books) book store. That would be a great place to meet up.

There really is a difference between 'liking' and 'loving' books! And michelle I love to be surrounded by my books too!

I have read both of the, and Sharp objects was good, Dark places was good to but not as good as Sharp objects or Gone Girl.

message 2472: by Holly (new)

Holly | 1184 comments Yes, I remember that you told me that Chris. :-)

message 2473: by Chris (new)

Chris (cbrunner11) | 674 comments I think you will love them, and if I didn't have so much on my to-read plate, I would re-read these just to do a buddy read with you.

message 2480: by Katy (new)

Katy (katyas-69) | 1731 comments I keep hoping to coax people here for Dragon*Con; it'll be my only non-book-related thing this year (and probably even then I'll track down people like John Ringo and such and make them sign books!). Heh! But Atlanta in September isn't the funnest place, I guess...

11:30 p.m. Just about finished clearing out e-mail so I can go back to reading. Sometimes I really hate having to keep up with e-mail! LOL

message 2481: by Chris (new)

Chris (cbrunner11) | 674 comments Not going to lie, I'm a bit jealous of you guys Kathryn.

Holly, let me know when you want to read Sharp Objects and if I can, I'll do a re-read with you for that one.

You're telling my story Janie except my active use and seeking friends just started this year. Although I joined three years ago, I only posted one or two books a year that I read and never really made any friends. I decided to wipe all my books out and start fresh for this year. Hope to gain even more friends also. And thanks by the way for the friendship request a few days ago!

OK, I admit it! I'm a strange character. I always fix dinner when I get home from work which is around 11:30 p.m. E.S.T. Gonna eat now and watch some tv then I'll be back to reading again for a couple of hours.

Holly wrote: "Exactly Terri. I thought it was fabulous. I'm very much interested in reading more of his work."

If you like short stories, Blind Willow, Sleeping Woman was just fantastic. I also read Kafka on the Shore and liked that very much. Murakami's become one of my favorite authors!

2:59am and...de pain, de pain!! (for those of you old folks who remember Fantasy Island). My mouth is killing me. I've taken every analgesic available, and some more that the recommended dose, and yet--it's awful! You wouldn't think one measly tooth would affect your whole body and outlook. Well, enough of feeling sorry for myself...the coffee is ready and I'm about to dive in to some books to distract myself. Katy, hope you're editing efficiently (and boy can I understand the budgetary woes! We went through a medical bankruptcy 14 years ago and sometimes it seems like we're still recovering)--and for the rest of you I hope it's sweet dreams!

message 2495: by [deleted user] (new)

Hope it's better in the morning Terri. Nothing worse than tooth(mouth) or kidney stone pain. And I've experienced both - several times. Take care and I'm keeping my fingers crossed for you to feel better soon.

Jordan (jords) | 277 comments Hope you feel better soon Terri!

8:28am Doing some coursework, listening to music and hoping the day will pass quickly.

message 2497: by Katy (new)

Katy (katyas-69) | 1731 comments Any type of pain makes a person miserable. I'm glad mine is kept mostly under control, but apparently the insurance companies are starting to cause problems for people who are on narcotic pain meds long term and my doctor warned me they may start causing me trouble, even though I don't even have freakin' insurance... *sigh* Anyway, I hope things are better soon, Terri.

4:30 a.m. EST Just finished eating... I was HUNGRY, but fortunately Dmitry had picked up some Hamburger Helper and ground beef a few days ago before our account went into the red. This should last us another day, but then ... *sigh* I dunno, we've had to do this before, and I ended up losing a lot of weight out of the deal. Anyway, it was the time when Amazon put up their new freebies, so I just checked my wishlist for the day and continue to stare at my order and hope my Kindle ships soon! LOL Anxious to again have one. I'll read until the food digests and then take a nap. Today is supposed to be lovely and warm, so I'll be sitting outside for awhile this afternoon.
