10:29 p.m. and I have been forced to take pain pills tonight. I was so proud of the fact that I haven't taken any for four days. Went all day after leaving the doctor's office hurting and just couldn't take it any more. Doctor's nurse told me on the phone when I called that it shouldn't last but a day or two. I'll live. I just hate that I had to take something. Feel like a wimp or something. Goodnight folks. It's gonna make me drowsy real soon.

Kathryn (kcanty313) | 1870 comments 10:43 PM. Well, we ended up at Lowe's because we had to return something and buy a few things. I won't go into detail, but the girl who works at Lowe's was having a bad day or something, and took it out on us. Oh well. I did what Grandma would have done: have patience, be kind, and say thank you no matter what. "Kill them with kindness." Anyways, since that trip took a lot longer than we had planned, we ended up just picking up some fried chicken tenders and mashed potatoes. Then, we talked about the book shelves Mark is going to make me. Now, we are in bed, Mark is asleep, Gizmo already curled up and sleeping on me, Pepper is...wherever Pepper sleeps, and I'm going to get back into Gone Girl. I hope to finish it tomorrow. Goodnight, GR!

9:21AM Well here is the rain we so desperately need. I think it is sposed to do this most of the day, so it is great for reading. I had my breakfast but did not make coffee yet, I am not sure if I will make any at all. No plans for today but read. YAY!

Kathryn (kcanty313) | 1870 comments 9:30 AM. Good morning, GR! I have been up since about 6:30 AM. We are actually getting a little rain, and since it's been a while since I have heard rain, and in our new home, I couldn't figure out what the noise was. LOL. Plus, it was nice just to listen to. I'm off to finish Gone Girl. I read a nice chunk of it last night, and am really wanting to finish today because I really need to know what the heck is going on. Plus, I think I am going to start Ready player One afterwards. Anyways, enjoy the rain for those of you who are getting some, and for those who aren't, enjoy your day, too! :)

Frances Hampton (FranHampton) | 11 comments 7:37 AM =. Good morning reading buddies. I just finished Gone Girl. Omgosh what a psyche trip! If you haven't read it, I'd say go for it. I didn't love the first few chapters but I see how they fit now. I'm going to walk Zoey, grab some coffee, eat, check out the update for Sims Freeplay, then figure out my feelings for Gone Girl. Yeah. I need to figure out my jumbled feelings and thoughts before I can write a review, (at least one that doesn't have me ranting spoilers left and right). Enjoy the day!

10:24PM Have had a pretty busy evening. Went with Amy to Aeveries registration for Pre-K. He may or may not get in. We will find that out in August! Then took him to the playground. Then watched the draft after that. LOL So now I am kicking back and gonna read some more!

Kathryn (kcanty313) | 1870 comments 10:56 PM. What a nice rainy day. Much needed. I got lots of reading done: I finished Gone Girl and am now 61 pages into Fangirl. I also did a 20 minute run so I can get back into my workout routine. Anyways, goodnight GR...super sleepy with Gizmo next to me waiting to sleep. Lol

6:38AM Another full day planned today so have to get my reading done this early morning! Going to Sam's for groceries and such and then after the girls get out of school, we are taking Shelby, my niece to the book store, and then we will get some dinner. Randy took today off. So should be a nice, fun day, not to mention some books thrown into the mix, what could be better! Good Morning GR!

Kathryn (kcanty313) | 1870 comments 12:50 PM. Hey, hey, hey, GR! I have spent the last few hours catching up on some reviews of books I've read in the last few months. I didn't realize how many of them I hadn't written reviews for. Now I'm all caught up. I think I'm going to read for a bit, then workout. Happy Friday, everyone!

Katy (katyas-69) | 1731 comments Cindy, if you are hurting, take the pills. Your body can't heal if it is trying to do something about the pain, you know? It doesn't make you a wimp, it makes you a human IN PAIN. I hope you feel better, and am glad you did have several days where you were able to go without the meds!

1:59 p.m. EDT Had my scans this morning. We were in the parking garage 1 hour and 1 minute, so had to pay the $3 for over one hour rather than the $1 for an hour, which was so annoying. Especially since that minute was waiting for her to do a transaction with the person in front of us. Anyway, we went to IHOP afterward for breakfast, as I was REALLY hungry for the first time in days. I had a bacon and cheese omelet and sourdough toast, of which I ate pretty much exactly half. Half the omelet, half the toast (one slice - they gave me two). As the server brought the box, she said, "It's a lot of food for a little person, isn't it?" and I was like... little person? Me? And then I checked me out and yeah, I'm now pretty much a little person. Looking pretty frail. Oh, well. I still have a good 20 lb. cushion before I become dangerously thin, so I should be okay, right? I've been reading this anthology and the review is turning into a book itself. I don't even know if I'll be able to fit it all at some of the sites, and I'm not finished. In fact, I'm only at 65 percent, so lots still to read. It's just these stories are all inspiring me to ramble. And I'm generally rambling in e-mails and posts and all over the place lately. Desperately leaving proof that I was here? *shrug* Who knows. I'll find out about the scans on Tuesday. Here's hoping the tumors are shrinking.

Katy (katyas-69) | 1731 comments 3:05 a.m. EDT Okay, that book-length review is done if anyone wants to check it out. It is for Curiosity Quills: Primetime. I think I spent almost as much time making notes and writing the review as I did reading the book! Finally treated Erasmus and Fluff for fleas, but Tiger embarrassed himself by knocking stuff down and has gone into hiding. Until he comes out, we can't treat him. *sigh* I hope Dmitry also has some stuff for the dog, who is itchy and whiny about it. Way past time I went to bed, actually, but I needed to really push the fluids today - drank 64 oz. of Gatorade and 46 oz. of V8 Fusion (Peach Mango. yum) and maybe 20 oz. water. Hopefully this will help push out the barium a bit faster. Oh, I forgot, I also had probably 24 oz. of iced coffee at IHOP this morning. Mmmm. Love that stuff. Anyway, bed time. Soon, Really

Katy (katyas-69) | 1731 comments Safe trip, Corey.

Heather, sorry to hear that. Seizures make holding any sort of job tricky. One of my first ex-husband's friends had epilepsy and he had to hide it because he was a cook. But if he were to have a seizure while cooking, he could seriously harm himself, so normally he wouldn't have been hired for those jobs if he disclosed the condition.

1:44 a.m. EDT Wasn't able to sleep much today. Tried this morning, but no luck. Managed a bit of sleep before D went off to work, and a bit more this evening, but not quite enough. Still, I should be able to sleep plenty today. Our bank has this program where you can chose deals and if you use your debit card to pay for whatever services, you receive a certain amount of cash back. One of the offers was 10 percent cash-back from Red Lobster through 5/27, so we're planning to go on Monday for lunch, since Tuesday is chemo and I'll be miserable for at least a week and a half afterward... so it'll be good to have a nice meal first! Meanwhile I've been eating a lot of cereal because I want to munch but don't want to actually exert myself... :-)

message 11285: by Frances (new)

Frances Hampton (FranHampton) | 11 comments 10:24 pm AKDT Heather hope you enjoy Shatter Me. Seizures suck. My oldest daughter has epilepsy. Sending prayers your way.
Corey Wishing you safe travel. Prayers that the move goes smoothly and your Grandma likes her new place.
Katy I hope you enjoy your meal out. I will keep you in thoughts on Tuesday. You have my prayers.

To all the Moms, (and any Dads who are Mom as well as Dad), I wish you a very Happy Mother's Day! I hope your day is filled with love and laughter, (and also goes smoothly for those who need that - the value of that I learned while caring for my grandson who is autistic).

I had another lovely day of packing. I am just about done though. I will move the big items out on Monday night then give it a final cleaning before turning over keys. I took a bit of time out to place Zoey in her carrier and drag it around so she would be used to it before we hit the airport Tuesday. The only thing that bothers me is the flight is so long and she is suppose to be in the carrier the whole time. :-(
We went to the vet and he thinks she will be fine. She weighed in at 13 pounds and was pronounced healthy. Yay! I am tired but am hoping to read a bit before I crash.
On a funny note - today our post office was collecting food so I figured I would give them all the food I wouldn't be needing. my guy offered to pack it for me while I finished the upstairs. After we dropped the food off I stopped for a pack of soda. He picked up a pizza and I said to him we still had the food I put aside to make this weekend. He replied, after face freezing a second, that he wanted to treat me. So sweet, right? Haha. When we got home I went to put the Dr P in the refrigerator and noticed it was entirely empty! He forgot we still had a few days to go with meals at home and he packed off EVERYTHING. I turned around to look at him and his face was priceless. He told me that Zoey still had food and pulled out a Milky Way for me, (apparently he knew a pizza alone wasn't going to do it). I just cracked up! Chocolate to the rescue. Hilarious!

Kathryn (kcanty313) | 1870 comments 6:45 AM. Good early morning, GR. I have been up since about five. I can never sleep on Mother's Day. It's not my favorite holiday because my mother walked out, but I won't be negative and spoil your special day for the moms on this thread. Yesterday was such a productive day, and I am sore this morning. My aunt texted me and asked if I wanted to go to a nursery and get plants. I need some stuff for a particular spot in the front of our home, so I got plants for it. Mainly a variety of hostas, pink hydrangeas, and a few other things. I also bought a beautiful jasmine. It smells wonderful. I got it all planted in and it looks beautiful. Then, Mark and I ran around and did some stuff, made breakfast for dinner, and then bed. We were worn out. Today we are going to see my grandpa. Mark built him the shelf he wanted for his tv, so we are going to take that to him, have lunch, and go to the cemetery. My grandma's first name was/is Iris, so I bought some beautiful purple and light purple irises for Mother's Day to put down for her. Anyways, I'm going to read for a while until Mark gets up and we need to get ready to go. Have a great Sunday!

I got some beautiful cards and a beautiful Emerald ring and matching necklace. I need a longer chain on the necklace though it is too close to my neck. I am actually just a ring person, but I will make the necklace work. Planning on some reading today. Randy is going to make me breakfast today. YUM!

message 11292: by Katy (new)

Katy (katyas-69) | 1731 comments 2:37 p.m. EDT I only had a few hours sleep because I woke up about 6:30 and had the urge to go outside, so I went and sat in the back and drank a Guru (energy drink) and just ... sat. It was a comfortable temperature, cloudy and lightly foggy. We have blooms in the back yard; I thought it was Jasmine, but now I don't think so, as I went and sniffed it and it didn't smell like anything at all, and Jasmine is heady, so... Yeah, I Just checked and the blooming bushes are definitely not the Jasmine, not yet. I don't know what they are, but they are pretty. We had some little mimosa trees trying to grow at the base of the steps and the dog keeps tangling himself in them, so I stomped on them and broke them down. Hopefully that will help. Meanwhile the big mimosa tree is all leafed out, so the dog now has lovely shade on hot days. Then I came in and read for awhile, and then I wrote a really long letter to a woman who was probably as close as I ever had to a best female friend in high school. Hand wrote, mind you, so my hand was all cramped. I really went on and on, so I'll have to go by the post office tomorrow on the way to lunch to check if I need to add extra postage... Her birthday is in 10 days, so I used the first page and used different colored pens to make a sort of birthday card. Just silly stuff, y'know. Then I read for awhile longer, and now I'm clearing out some e-mail. Need to start waking hubby soon to send him to work, and then I'll try to take a nap. It's bright and sunny out today, and obviously very humid since my glasses fogged up when I put them on (I have the bedroom window open a few inches to let in fresh air). Hope all the moms out there are having a great day.

Then we went to the cemetery where I put some purple irises down for my grandma. After we sat there for a bit, we left to go home. Mark and I took about an hour nap after we got home, then went to Half-Price Books, and I didn't find anything. I think was a little worn out from yesterday, (still am), so I actually didn't look much. After that, we stopped by the grocery store for some chicken breasts, grilled them, and had grilled chicken sandwiches and macaroni salad for dinner and coconut cream pie for dessert. We have been kind of relaxing a bit, and we are in bed watching a movie now. Goodnight, GR.
