Chris (cbrunner11) | 674 comments 3:08 PM Enjoying the weekend. I'm on vacation from my old job starting today. I get a three day weekend and then only have to work one job this coming week. Bliss. My wife is out with her mom today so I'm enjoying some time with the kids. We are watching a movie and I'm checking in for once.

Hope everyone is doing well. Have a great weekend.

7:23 P.M. A bit disappointed because it looks like Florida is going to loose. Oh well; go Kentucky!

Alondra Miller 9:00 p.m. I have not been reading much due to the fantastic weather here in NC. I needed to get some gardening chores done, and done they are!! I am now achy, but satisfied. Time to read!! :)

Kathryn (kcanty313) | 1870 comments Speaking of gardening, Alondra!!!!! I just planted an ivy in a huge vase thing my dad gave me for my front porch. You would be proud!

i love Ivy; but only in pots. It spreads like nobody's business! I am proud of you...

i love pots all over the place... on the porch, on the deck; in the garden.. :D

Katy (katyas-69) | 1731 comments Yes, Chuck, you're right, I meant CBD. Wish I could buy some seeds and start a grow but a) illegal and b) I have a notorious "brown thumb" and can't keep any plants alive...

9:38 p.m. EDT Had a short nap. Wasn't enough, so I'll have to try again later, but I couldn't fall back to sleep, so figured I'd fiddle around online.

message 10709: by [deleted user] (new)

10:42 p.m. Haven't been online for a couple of days. I'm a little bummed out. I keep having severe pain in my side and back and continue to get kidney stones every single week. The doctor is concerned about my kidneys and is talking about testing for kidney cancer. I'm trying not to write anything into it, I'm just tired of hurting all the time. Blah blah. Enough crying. Sorry you guys got the brunt of it. I want to read for a bit but had to take yet another pain pill just to cope. Tomorrow will be better!

Oh no, I'm sorry you're having trouble, Cindy! I think probably the best thing you can do is have that test as soon as possible and try not to worry. I know the latter is HARD TO DO.

message 10711: by [deleted user] (new)

Thanks Chuck. I'm trying to stay positive it's just hard sometimes because this pain has been going for months now. I just thought it was my back.

Have you had you parathyroid checked?

message 10713: by [deleted user] (new)

Chris, great to see you post! Have a wonderful time with your kids, and enjoy the kicked back schedule this week.

Cindy, kidney stones are one of the worst pains there is (I speak from experience, and I've dealt with a lot of different pain issues). That's good advice from Chuck about a parathyroid check. Hope you feel better soon.

8:47am EDT. Got up at 6am with the dogs. Hub is sleeping in (he needs it). It's been a quiet morning. I made some bread and left the dough to rise. It's a beautiful sunny day, will try to go for a walk later. Plan a leisurely day of reading and time with my dearest husband. He'll probably watch the baseball game this afternoon. (Our hometown team, the Reds, are off to a terrible start.) Hope everyone is enjoying the weekend!

9:58AM Wow again I did not check back in last night. LOL I feel like I have missed so much when I don't check in each night as well as morning. Randy has a 4 day weekend, and Amy has been coming over so we have been playing a classic game, 'Sorry' heh. I have been doing some reading early in the day though, but I feel like I am behind this month. Oh well what can ya do?

Chris glad to see your post! Hope you enjoy your weekend! It is always nice to have some extra time with the family!

Cindy sorry to hear about the stones. I have heard that is really painful. Wishing a speedy recovery from that for you.

Terri would love some of your bread, let me send you my address! hehe!

message 10715: by Angie (new)

Angie | 76 comments I feel like I get behind if I don't come on for a day as well! Always so much to catch up to:) Cindy good look with the new tests and kidney stones are incredibly painful so I hope this gets sorted out speedily:-)
Its 4.10pm here and I'm lay on my sofa resting of a bit. I was in hospital this week so I'm trying to take it easy for the next few days.

message 10716: by Katy (new)

Katy (katyas-69) | 1731 comments Cindy, so sorry. I really can relate to the month after month after month of pain. Go be tested. If nothing else, there has to be an underlying cause as to why your kidneys keep throwing out stones and that needs to be fixed. I hope they can help you quickly.

Terri, when I lived with my folks I used to make home-made bread all the time. I always found kneading the dough to be therapeutic... :-) I'd grind up a couple cups of wheat and mix it with white flour, and sweeten it with honey. It was good stuff.

Chris, enjoy your lowered work schedule and increased time with your family. I'm so sorry this hasn't worked out the way you had hoped and the new job isn't putting you to full-time as you had expected. I hope things settle down and you're put full-time soon so you can have benefits and no longer have to work so many hours.

2:23 p.m. EDT Went to sleep about 2:30 this morning, had to crawl out of bed at noon because my back was unhappy with me. I'm still sleepy though, so I'll probably take another nap in a bit.

My computer keeps doing weird things, so I'm going to post this before something else weird happens...

I got to get back in baseball. I used to to be a baseball fanatic but I finally boycotted it when the All-Star Game ended in a tie years ago. But nothing says summer quite like baseball.

Katy (katyas-69) | 1731 comments Heather, glad your first day went well!

9:50 p.m. EDT Had a nap. Woke up a couple hours ago and my husband had come home for a few hours in the middle of his shift. Then went back to sleep until I heard his car door slamming and the car starting up. It was so chilly here today that I turned the heat back on. I ordinarily would not have done that, but between the chemo side effects making me more susceptible to cold, and the cold making my fibro flare and joints ache, I had to do it. I think I need to turn it down a bit, though, as I'm becoming a bit too warm. Anyway, clearing out e-mail and then... who knows what I'll do...

message 10724: by [deleted user] (new)

Katy - I bet the chemo makes you sick too? What are the docs saying?

message 10725: by [deleted user] (new)

11:46PM Have been reading today. Really enjoying my book. Hope to finish it by Tuesday. Amy visited for a little bit today, so that is always nice. Gonna call it a night here in a few. G'night GR!

message 10727: by [deleted user] (new)

Cindy, hang in there. Depression can be so terrifying and lonesome. Try not to let your health get you down. Just take a day at a time. (There are all sorts of antidepressants available, and some can even help with pain control. I speak from experience. Feel free to PM me if you need/want to.)

1:17am EDT. Insomnia strikes again! At least I have some good books to read, and lots of things on GR to occupy myself.

message 10728: by GeneralTHC (new)

GeneralTHC @ 1:05 AM

Well, I'm way behind on my reading now. I've got caught up in some debates with some fellow Bible geeks.

I got to at least finish my book tonight to stay two books behind. If I could just hit that two-novel-a-day gear I found last spring I could do this challenge easily.

Terri, I noticed you're on a real tear this month. I bet you're 1000 pages ahead of me. My goal for a minimum requires (30 x 250) 7500 pages. I bet you shatter that, haha.

message 10729: by Gavin (new)

Gavin (thewalkingdude) | 315 comments 12:38 a.m Watching anime right now. Will probably read a little more later. I'm almost done with The Return of the King (I'll be done by tomorrow), at least with the story, the appendices are still left.

You should go on YouTube or Hulu and watch some comedy. There are plenty of full stand-up routines on YouTube from people like Eddie Izzard, Mitch Hedberg, George Carlin, Russell Peters, etc. I find when I can't focus on reading that watching something silly can distract me nicely.

Cindy wrote: "Katy - I bet the chemo makes you sick too? What are the docs saying?"

I am given a large dose of Zofran before my treatment, and then take it every 8 hours for the next three days, and that mostly does the trick. I also have some promethazine (Reglan) in case the Zofran isn't enough. So far so good *knocks on wood* I think the doctor will be running some scans in the next month, see what's going on. At this point, it's just treatments.

5:07 a.m. EST Was binge-watching Dollhouse. It's been awhile since I saw it. I watched it on Hulu when it first came out, then bought the DVDs, but haven't watched it again since. It's a pity that Joss Whedon's vision for this show was messed up. Anyway, hubby has to work another double today and has come to bed, so I'll switch to something quiet. People of Walmart or Buzzfeed or Oddee or something. Don't feel like sleeping yet.

message 10731: by Angie (new)

Angie | 76 comments I couldn't really get into Dollhouse Katy, it was just messed up. Topher was awesome though. I still watched it all and even bought the DVD:)

Its 12.20 pm here and I had another night awake. I got to sleep at about 4am but at least it means I get my reading done. Cindy and Katy my thoughts are with you both:-)

7:52AM Was gonna lay back down this AM due to being up late reading lol. But Randy is home today and I hate to be sleeping when he is up. So gonna try and get some good reading done today. Working on the laundry and already got the kitchen cleaned, so yay for me. I really need to vacuum but ugh I keep saying it can wait till another day. LOL

Katy glad that you have something to control the sickness. I cant even imagine all of that. Keep on keepin on!

4:41 p.m. and I've been running all day. BUT - some good news came out of it. Got approved for food stamps so I don't starve to death while I'm dealing with these health problems. AND my primary care doctor is referring me to a urologist for more specialized testing of my kidneys. At least now I will have someone who actually specializes in the area I'm having problems. Getting ready to run some more and then I'm coming home and relaxing for a bit. Have a busy day tomorrow.

7:17 p.m. and I finally finished my running for the day. Now I find out that I have to get the kids on the school bus in the morning. Up at 5:30 a.m. and then we have two home visits by CPS (Child Protective Services) and my grandson's therapist tomorrow. Both of them take place in the home. Oh well, I'm gonna take a couple of hours anyway and relax. The house will just have to look however it looks tomorrow. I'm tired and have made the decision to take time for ME.
