1:01 p.m. and I'm currently racking my brain in an attempt to make money without jeopardizing my health. So far, I haven't came up with anything other than dealing drugs, becoming a madam, robbing someone, etc. NOT! HAPPY APRIL FOOL'S DAY!
Kathryn, happy new house!! Good luck organizing your new home.
Janie, I missed it--what kind of puppy do you have? (I'm trying to write this right now with a lap full of collie! He's only 18 months old. I loved him as a puppy, even with all the hassles.)
10:47am EDT. I've been down again with chronic health stuff for the past 5 days. Trying to catch up with everyone. I'm woefully behind in my reading. I may have to postpone some things I had committed to reading. Things also not well with my son, so I've been kind of a mess. Thank goodness for the puppies! (We're also dog sitting my son's border collie and is she ever active!) This is my first day out of bed in a while and my first coffee, and it's a real pleasure. Getting ready to spend some quiet time reading while the dogs nap. It's gray and rainy, a perfect day for reading. It's also in the 60s, and I have windows open and my ceiling fan on. I think spring is finally here! Hope everyone is doing well.

12:26PM Did my top 5 Wednesday Vlog. Having some coffee and tending to Delilah. I had forgotten how much work they are LOL, But she is sweet. I am working on reading a novella for an author, I think I will read through that today, and I also started Queste by Angie Sage, which has been pretty good so far.
Terri the little squirt is a pug/terrier mix. Luckily she has taken more to the terrier side. She is finally getting comfortable with us now, although she has been whining at Kay's door most of the morning. So I just have to hold her for a bit and she is fine again. I totally need to record her reaction for when Kay gets home from school, it is so funny and cute.

Kathryn, whereabouts do you live in Fort Worth?
Terri, I wonder where you'd been. Hang in there, friend, things will come around for ya, I'm sure.
Welp it's day 2 of my challenge and I'm on pace. Not sure what book I'll read today though. This is where I always get in trouble: not knowing what to read next. Can't spend 5 hours trying to decide. I should be done with a book in 5 hours, not just starting one.

Please join if you are feeling froggy...
7:33PM Had red beans and rice for dinner with sausage. It was yum, we have not had that for awhile. Then I did a work out and we just got home from the playground/courts. Took Aeverie to go play and Derek and I played Basketball. Now I am enjoying some coffee and achy muscles LOL. Finished the novella, now gonna read some more Quest once Aeverie falls asleep. I wanna finish it by tomorrow, we will see, but it is doubtful since we have to run out for groceries.

I like that kind of eating. I'd have had to add some macaroni.
@ 7:46 PM
I cleared my whole CR of everything yesterday. I marked most of them to finish later. But I finished the two I left and was reading late last night. It was strange having a clear CR when I came to GR today. Not going to read anymore than 3 books at a time including no more than 2 audiobooks at any one time. I'll occasionally be picking books from my DNF folder until I get it cleared. I guess as long as I have at least 300 pages left of a book it's fair to use it (count it as 1 book read) towards my challenge as long as I finish it?
I absolutely LOVED The Warded Man. Think I'm about to start part 2: The Desert Spear. Can't believe I missed out on this for so long. I'm having good luck now with books! WooooooooHOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!

Isn't it just right off Hulen Street? Not quite to Benbrook but not too far away, right?

Chuck wrote: "Katy, yeah I heard about that. I love metal, but I never got into Gwar. Do they know the cause of death yet?"
It's a bit of an acquired taste, I guess. I love their stuff. Apparently they found stuff in his home that makes them think it might have been drug-related (unlike Corey Smoot, who died during their 2011 tour due to heart disease at age 36; he was Flattus Maximus)
Rachel wrote: "Katy-wonderful to see you post-sending hugs and positive healing thoughts your way "
Thanks, it's MUCH appreciated.
Terri wrote: "Katy, your strength of spirit inspires me. I've had both a colostomy and an ileostomy in the past, and I know how hard it is to get the proper supplies and take care of the ostomy."
Thanks, glad to know I'm not just stupid. I do feel that they did not take enough time with me to really make sure I had this thing down before turning me loose... Anyway, hubby finally picked up the prescription yesterday while I was doing chemo, and now it's just a question of when we can stop by Care Medical and start the ball rolling. I suppose either tomorrow, before or after I turn in this pump I have to wear for two days after each treatment, or Friday after I visit my palliative care nurse.
Christine wrote: "8:49 am I'm relaxing on my birthday"
Happy belated birthday, Christine. Hope it was a great one!
Kathryn wrote: "10:00 PM. Sitting here worn out and stressed about how we are going to unload everything tomorrow. The two people who said they could help backed out this evening. Nice, right?? Anyways, I keep tel..."
Don't apologize for that, Kathryn. It sucks when people say they'll help and then back out. Like when my cousins said they'd help Dmitry clean the duplex and then didn't... Once they saw it, they realized I was not exaggerating about how bad it was and they just couldn't hack it.
Janie wrote: "9:58AM So at about 5:00AM baby Delilah decided to start howling and carrying on so loudly that I heard her across the house. :::sigh::: But did my son or daughter stir? Who has rooms at that end of..."
Yes, puppies are SO needy. I've determined that I am absolutely NOT a puppy person. Once Fritz has passed, if we ever have another dog, I'm adopting a full-grown, already trained one...
And Chuck, your story about Pepper Jack is adorable. He just wants some loves...
Right, on to the next page!

Janie, I'd want the pug part to be in charge; terriers have way too much energy... *laugh* A pug will sit quietly in your lap.
11:20 p.m. EDT I had meant to keep up with the posts here but I lost track again... sorry! I had my 2nd chemo yesterday and some new meds added in because the biopsy on my liver came back positive and so they needed a med that would work on liver cancer. Plus I'm anemic, so they gave me some IV iron. I did mention that biopsy, right? It was done last week and OMG did it HURT!! I'd had problems with the sedation last time I was at that hospital, so I made a huge fuss over being properly sedated for this thing, which they did manage BUT when they stuck in the needle for the biopsy I woke back up, screaming. Anyway, I had crippling pain for 3 days afterward, too. Yuck. Anyway, one of the drugs I have for chemo causes muscle spasms. First time around it was just my hands and feet and it had gone away by the 2nd day. This week it was hands, feet, and facial tics. My feet are STILL trying to cramp up, and my arms and legs hurt something fierce. I also had hot flashes, and periodically my tongue would sort of stiffen up and make it difficult for me to talk. Sort of funny, I guess. I had my faith-healing blanket and my Cthulhu plushy and my computer and my Kindle and a notepad and ended up sort of staring at the wall a lot of the day. I was so exhausted by the time we made it home (after a stop at IHOP for some food). That was yesterday. Today I was resting. I slept until 10 or 11, then sent Dmitry off to work about 4 and went to sleep about 6, finally up again about 10:45 or so. Typing is a bit easier tonight, but yesterday and earlier today between the pain in my forearms and the shakiness of my hands, typing was a real chore, so I'm falling father and farther behind rather than really doing any catching up. Doesn't help that I have been randomly surfing around without really accomplishing anything. Hardly reading at all. Unless you could blogs or joke pages on the 'net, etc... Anyway, I think I'll be further decreasing this year's goal if this is how things are going to be.
So, that's me. I'm super bummed about the liver tumor, 'cause I was hoping to save my liver for some late-onset cirrhosis, y'know, take up drinking in my golden years, that sort of thing. *sigh* Well, hopefully they'll be able to fix it and I can still do that, so *thumbs up*

I hope you're not having to battle over pain meds. It seems to me you should be able to have an adequate supply of anything mankind has invented seeing as how what you're going through.
I wish you the absolute best, Katy.
7:53AM I decided not to go back and nap this morning so I can get a jump start on reading today since we need to go out for groceries this afternoon. Enjoying the read so far, but not sure it is a 5 star rating that I rated it previously. I am sure that rating will change. Good Morning GR!
Katy keeping you in my thoughts and prayers. As Chuck has already said I think we all admire how you are handling all of this. Can only imagine what you must face day to day!

10:41 a.m. and I'm gonna finish Rot and Ruin and then work on The Goldfinch.
Katy - I love how you are keeping the humor with everything that is going on. Doubt that I would have that much courage. Humor is good for us. Keeping you in my prayers.
Terri - Hope you feel better soon.

Trying to decide what I'm going to read for day 3 of my 30/30 challenge. Last night I had all kinds of books lined up. Today I'm all like, Meh? Amazing how that happens.

4:47 p.m. EDT So, the pump is off (thank goodness) and Dmitry is off to work. I have some V8 Fusion I'm sipping on. To add insult to injury, now I have a toothache. Pooh. I'm sleepy, so I think I'll try to sleep if my body will allow it. My forearms and calves are all tightened up, and my feet and hands keep wanting to cramp. Plus my right foot (only my right foot, WTF??) is swollen up today. Crazy.
As far as my sense of humor, that's my coping mechanism. I'm not sure how healthy it is, but it seems to work, so c'est la vie.
6:53PM Just got home, but let me tell you that was some pretty scary do do we were stuck in. We were driving right where the tornado was. We had to pull over due to ZERO visibility. I am glad that it was going away from home because Kay was here by herself. In the midst of the turmoil and the sirens blaring, my sweet grand baby says very seriously "We are going over the rainbow!" Uhhhh no more Wizard of Oz for Aves! heh but he sure did lighten the mood.

Wow! Glad you're okay. It's just starting here. That means you can probably expect it shortly, Kathryn.

janie-how scary- Aves reaction is priceless- stay safe all of my texas friends
katy- i admire your fighting spirit and your humor-sending you hugs
kerstin-enjoy your bracelet :)

Thanks to Kerstin and Rachel for your support.
9:47 p.m. EDT Just up from a nap, but yawning wide enough to crack my jaws. Hungry but too lazy to go do anything, so munching on pistachios. Probably will go back to bed before too long. Dmitry was talking about going to see the new Captain America movie tonight. Wish I felt up to it, I'd like to see it, but I told him to go if he wanted to. Anyway, going through new e-mail and then probably NetFlixing it for awhile.
11:43PM the weather settled down a lot now it is mostly flash flood warnings and such. Apparently while we were still here at home earlier there was also a tornado in ponder, where we live. Yikes! Then we go to Denton into another one lol gonna read now and see if I can hit pg. 400 in my book. I should be able to. Thanks everyone for the well wishes.

I hope everyone has a GREAT weekend!

6:54AM Wow it got a bit chilly today, but it is sposed to warm up to about 71 today, so that is good! We had to go get groceries today since yesterday we did not get to it due to weather. Will finish Queste today, wanted to finish it yesterday but well I stopped to play a game with my son on PS. Good Morning GR!

Out of the mouths of babes. How precious! Glad you guys got home okay. Yeah, we got it good. Big Hail, major thunder and wind. 4 1/2" of rain in 45 min. Some broken trees in he neighborhood.
Done with Queste and reading Tricked. Getting taxes and grocery shopping done today. Hope everyone has a great Friday.
Katy, my thoughts and prayers are with you. Take care
Katy, I love the way you're coping. Humor is so important. You continue to inspire me to get over my petty aches and pains and think more positively.
Kerstin, I loved the bracelet story! Everyone deserves a reward now and then. I like the deeper meaning of the bracelet for you.
Chuck, your challenge is daunting to me!
10:23am EDT. Just got up a little while ago. I had been up for over 24 hours again, and crashed for 12 last night. I'm still feeling dopey. It continues to rain steadily here, and the back yard is such a muddy mess. Keeping 2 dogs clean is a real challenge. My reading is going really well. I'm doing a buddy read that's really enjoyable, and also reading some excellent short stories and a nonfiction book. Lots to keep me busy today. Larry has band practice tonight, so we're ordering out for dinner, and then I'll have a whole evening of reading time. I don't know whether or not I'll watch baseball. I might turn the game on and mute it, so it's just kind of there in the background. Happy Friday everyone!

Terri, there is nothing petty about your pain. It is very difficult to deal with on a day-to-day basis, and y'all see my best side. You don't see the sniveling cry-baby, you don't see my whining, you don't see my bossing Dmitry around... *laugh* Once I ng again, I decided to just be as positive as possible during this. I have such a wonderful support system of friends all around the world, and I know that all the positive energy coming my way will make a huge difference. I definitely want to be around for DragonCon in the fall, and I have so much reading to do I can't be lazing about in a coffin, so I guess I'll just have to do my best to live... :-)
3:02 p.m. EDT Saw my palliative care nurse today, and she increased my dosage of my main pain meds to three times a day rather than twice in hopes I won't need as much breakthrough meds (which I've been going through like crazy). She also sent me over to have an ultrasound on my legs to check for DVT, since my right foot is grotesquely swollen, and my left foot is also swollen a bit. That was negative thank goddess, so at least I don't have to worry about an aneurysm. Er, well, at least I don't have to worry about one from a clot in my legs... :-) She also told me to take caffeine for my headaches. One of the chemo drugs constricts blood vessels to try to kill off the blood supply to tumors, and that can cause headaches. The caffeine dilates them back. So on the way out of the hospital after the US I had a yummy hazelnut latte and chocolate chip scone. Mmmm. I'll probably be taking a nap once I take my pain meds at 4. I think I'll need to start keeping track of what I took when so I don't miss, skip, or double doses, because the other three times a day stuff is on the opposite schedule. Have a good weekend!
Thanks, Katy. As I said, you continue to inspire...
(As a former hospice nurse, I can tell you, Katy, that it's a good idea to keep a written record of your meds.)

Oh, that sucks. I've heard of people use marijuana for nausea from chemo. I would try it for sure. There's even a lot of claims about marijuana curing cancer these days. I don't believe 'em, but I know it does work for some things: it stimulates appetite and works for depression--that I can guarantee first hand. I suspect it fights diabetes even, for various reasons. I gained weight when I quit smoking for a while (after smoking daily for well over 15 years), if you can believe that, and I know scientists are doing studies about how it affects carbohydrate metabolism.
Terri wrote: "Chuck, your challenge is daunting to me!"
I know you could do it easily. You just about do it some months anyway. But I'm real behind now. At this point, I think I'll still make it though, if throw in some shorter novels. That's fair I guess because I'm going to read some longer ones too: A Prayer for Owen Meanym for one.
Katy wrote: "3:38 a.m. EDT Spent the last few hours randomly surfing and looking at weird stuff. Nothing accomplished but some laughs, so I guess not a total waste of time. My alarm is going off in just a but o..."
That's what I've been doing most of the day. Didn't get hardly any book reading done--I'm so behind now!

I am getting some reading done on a snowy Friday evening in Minnesota. This Way of Kings book is huge. I got behind on my book reading throughout the week and this is catch up day.

Chuck, Georgia doesn't have medical cannabis laws yet. There is no way to be certain I'm receiving the ideal hybrid for my purposes. I hope it won't be too much longer.
Thanks, Gary.
9:09 p.m. EDT Had a nice nap. My legs are finally feeling a bit better. They're still stiff and sore, but at least I can more more easily. Not sure what I'll end up doing tonight. We'll see...

10:14AM Sorry I was not around much yesterday guys. Was just out all day pretty much. Frist Hub and I went out for groceries, and then I went out with my daughter and got to go to the book store even. So that is always fun. And we did not end up getting home till about 8:15 in the evening in which we sat around and played games. LOL So a pretty full day. I hope y'all are having a wonderful weekend!

I saw you were reading that, Gary. I may read it next month.

I can't believe the weather. I was freezing last night. I just turned on the heater!

Yeah, I know it's illegal. I'm all too aware of that. I'm just saying it can help so I wouldn't care. I never have anyway, you know.
Medical marijuana certainly has its advantages, but you can get good marijuana anywhere, and some is all ways better none. It's like money in that respect, lol.

Oh man, I got to have a big day today. I'm two books behind now. I still think I'm okay though IF I don't slip anymore. The good news is I finally got a hold of a book I have been wanting for like a year now: All the Birds, Singing!

This is true, but the few people we know who have connections don't know anything about hybrids nor have any way to guarantee quality. What I need to find is someone who really knows their stuff about hybrids and growing for maximum CBH rather than THC.
2:05 p.m. EDT So I stayed up all night, figuring once I woke Dmitry to put the dog out I'd go to sleep. But he came in and suggested breakfast buffet at Ryan's, so off we went. I settled in, then he came in and went back to sleep, so now I have to stay awake to wake him up in time for work. *sigh* I imagine by the time I send him off to work I'll have reached that "too tired to sleep" stage... Still, Ryan's breakfast buffet. Of course, first I had a big salad - spinach, that purple lettuce and other dark greens, cucumbers, carrots, broccoli and bacon bits. Mmm. Then some bacon and a cinnamon roll. Now I'm munching on some Skittles. And this very awesome wig came in today:

I think you mean CBD. For years growers worked on raising the level of THC in their plants and neglected CBD. This can cause unpleasant effects in some people (mainly novice smokers--it's a different effect when you smoke everyday). But there are so many strains these days it's unbelievable. You can find seeds that have almost any ratio of CBD/THC you want these days.
