Kathryn (kcanty313) | 1870 comments 8:57 AM. Good morning, GR. I ate some cereal for breakfast, and I think I'm going to make a big cup of coffee, go sit in my reading chair by the window in my "reading room", and get more into Allegiant. I would love to be finished with it by tomorrow so I can start Night Film. I also need to email my friend who wrote me yesterday. Maybe I will do that first, before reading.

Totally been in a reading slump for the few past days--well, not really a slump per se, things just keep coming up. Hopefully, I can read today what I'd planned to read [fingers crossed] before. It'd be nice to get on a good roll again.

I hope everyone has a good day and a great weekend!

message 10103: by [deleted user] (new)

Chuck, I hope you like The Caine Mutiny. It's been years since I read it but it's an all-time favorite.

Kathryn, take it easy and take good care of yourself during this difficult time. Thinking of you...(((HUGS)))

11:41am EST. Charlie is chewing on his antler and I'm drinking coffee and hanging out here. My reading is going so well--I'm superstitious that something will soon wreck it up. Things are afoot with my older son, I just don't know what (and I'm afraid to find out). He's acting sneaky, going out at odd times, saying he's going to the store but coming back with nothing. It's driving me to distraction. How the hell can you police a 35 year old man??? The answer we're slowly coming to is kicking him out of the house. But how can you make your own son homeless??? So many questions, so few answers...

12:11PM My reading has been going well today. I will be done with this book today sometime. Not sure which book on my TBR I will start next. I know I have a buddy read starting with The Bone Collector and I think I am buddying up with Susan on Triptych. So we will see, I have some great choices for this month. After Kay gets home from school we will be going into town and the book store yay! I am always excited about that. Then we need to stop a few other places, get dinner, and then whatever else.

Chuck I hope you can find some time to get some reading done. it is annoying to me at times when I want to read but it does not work out.

Terri I can certainly understand the frustration you must be feeling with a situation like that and it can't be easy to deal with. Keeping y'all in my thoughts and prayers. hugs to you!

2:35 p.m. and I didn't get up until noon. I'm trying to accustom my body to the new work schedule. Just now settling down to read. Have six books going right now. That's a lot for me. I'm a really slow reader.

Did some homework this morning, then I watched the movie Wait Until Dark, which I recorded on TCM. It was really good! Audrey Hepburn was excite in it. I think she was a beautiful actress so elegant.

message 10113: by Corey (new)

Corey | 1411 comments 8:20 today has been the longest day since I can remember, me and my mom had to take a 3 hour trip up to my mom's mother's hometown, because she's been in the hospital for a little less than a week, we had to go up and see her in her hospital room and then they discharged her and we took her home, then from there we took the 3 hour drive back home so I've been on the run all day, but now I'm finally home relaxing. Probably gonna read for a while then I'm gonna get some sleep, I've never felt so tired in a long time.

9:00 p.m. and I bought some fresh tea bags at the grocery. I never realized the taste difference. NEVER again will I drink hot tea with bags that are several months old. This is delicious. Reading The Goldfinch by Donna Tartt while sipping on my tea. Heaven bliss!

What kind of tea are you drinking Cindy? I love peppermint tea.

message 10118: by [deleted user] (new)

I like the Sleepytime tea. It has a bit of chamomile, spearmint, and lemongrass. Very good. I like the peppermint also. I switch back and forth.

8:19PM Had a good day out, but it ends too soon for me. I am home all day long usually so it is really nice to be able to just spend an evening out once in awhile.

message 10121: by [deleted user] (new)

It's important for us to take time outdoors. I get depressed if I'm stuck inside all the time. Glad you enjoyed the day Janie!

Kathryn (kcanty313) | 1870 comments 8:33 PM. I had a nice workout, and as I was finishing, Mark came home. I got a shower, and then watched the news. I made breakfast for dinner: pancakes, scrambled eggs, turkey bacon for me, and sausage for the boy. Tonight, I think I am going to make some coffee and stay up late to try to finish Allegiant. I would love to finish it tonight and start Night Film tomorrow.

Be prepared to cry some more at the end...I am not saying anymore though :)

message 10124: by [deleted user] (new)

I love making a breakfast for dinner at least once every couple of weeks. Nice change.

message 10125: by Kathryn (new)

Kathryn (kcanty313) | 1870 comments Haha, Heather!! Now I'm even more eager to finish!

Cindy, pancakes aren't not normally my favorite, but for some reason, I've been wanting pancakes. I usually make breakfast for dinner once a week. It really is a nice change, and it's pretty inexpensive to make for Mark and me. :)

message 10126: by [deleted user] (new)

9:49 p.m. and I really wish my jello would set. I like Jello for desert. It's been in the fridge almost three hours. Oh well, I'll give it another hour or so.

Kathryn - I've never really cared for pancakes much. Occasionally, but not often. I did however, see some chocolate chip pancake mix at the store. Hmmm.

9:21AM Well today will be quiet. Kayla is babysitting today 9-4, Derek is at work, so I guess I will be reading most of the day. I do have to do a book haul vlog! But those are fun to do. So that is pretty much my day!

6:33PM Seems really quiet here today! But then again everyone else probably have lives and things to do on Saturday! Got my book haul vlog done and uploaded. YAY! So than I had a good workout then showered. Now I am enjoying some coffee and gonna get back to my book soon. I am so enjoying it. If I may recommend to you guys the Angelfall series by Susan Ee. It is fabulous. I am not sure yet if it is gonna be just a duology, trilogy or full out series. When I find that out I will share with everyone.

8:29pm EST. Really bummed about the time change tonight. Give me long gray days and yes, even snow and ice, and early dusk to freezing dark and candles and fireplaces lit and hot toddies for all!

Charlie my 18 month old "puppy" had his first bath and grooming session since he was really a little puppy. He's so soft and he smells so good and he just looks great. Must have been quite an experience for him--he's been sacked out cold ever since he got home!

QUESTION - Does anyone know if you can open two books in your Kindle app at one time and if so, will it still save your page numbers? Thanks in advance. I like to switch back and forth between books often and have never tried this.

message 10141: by Katy (new)

Katy (katyas-69) | 1731 comments Cindy, you can't open them at the same time, but you can go back and forth between them and it should save the page you are on. To be safe, you can always bookmark before closing the book and opening the other.

Thea, I'm so glad you went to a GI doctor. Please let me know what you learn and feel free to PM me at any time with questions about dealing with intestinal things.

9 p.m. EST Yesterday I had my first visit with my oncologist, who is very nice. It sounds like she wants to do an oral chemo and radiation at the same time to move ahead that much more quickly to the next surgery, which will be followed by another set of surgeries. I'll know more in a couple weeks. I have a lot of appointments over the next couple weeks, and once I start on the radiation it will be daily, Monday - Friday, until it's done. We went to lunch at Taste of India with my husband's friend and coworker Fernando, who is just a hoot and a half. Today the home health nurse came by and watched me change out my colostomy bag. She said I did it just fine and they'll probably discharge me soon, except for the financial aid lady, who hasn't shown back up when she said she would anyway. I am going back and forth between sleepy and wide awake - as soon as I settle in to try to sleep BOING my eyes fly open like those blinds on a cartoon show and I can't go back to sleep. So, Family Guy probably. Although someone mentioned Red Dwarf and that's another good one... hmmm

message 10142: by [deleted user] (new)

Thanks Katy. Glad you took some time to enjoy yourself today. I'm sure the treatments are going to take up a lot of your time and make you tired. Really glad you took time for yourself.

Cindy I can read several book at the same time on my kindle. The books all appear on your home page and it saves where you're up to as well. Even if the book ends up on the book lists the kindle will remember where you're up to.

Good luck with all the cèmo etc Katy, it sounds exhausting. But at least you are back home. As for a suggestion for a TV show you could try an old British miniseries called Ultraviolet. Its pretty good.

Its 2.30am here in the UK and I should be asleep but I've just but An American werewolf in London on. It's not to bad.
