12:15pm EST. Just put on the 2nd pot of coffee to brew. Having a laid back day so far, just enjoying the company of my husband and the puppy Charlie. Charlie just had an ice cube--he loves to crunch them. Roasting some garlic to put in turkey burgers tonight. Also having sauteed mushrooms and roasted broccoli (my favorite veg). It's snowing lightly and kind of cold today. Larry made a library trip for me yesterday, and my friend also sent me a bunch of ebooks. I have so much excellent stuff to read now, it's tough to choose! (I love dilemmas like this.) Hope everyone is having a great Sunday!

8:09PM Had another busy day with no reading :::sigh::: I am gonna try and get some reading done tonight so I can finish this book by tomorrow. Just recorded my Series Sunday late and have to get that up, then I will read.

message 9704: by [deleted user] (new)

10:28 p.m. and I managed to catch up on some reading tonight. Working on my attitude lately. I was really wanting to throw in the towel, but Jeff has refused to allow this and I'm grateful. It is great when someone loves you so much that they refuse to let you give up. I am doing better with the pain and go to orientation for my job tomorrow although the job doesn't actually start for another week or two. Hope everyone is doing well and enjoying their reads.

GeneralTHC 9:30 PM

Man, I've just felt "off" lately. It's like I can't wake-up good or something until bedtime.

Was checking out a new book called Carthage by Joyce Carol Oates a little while ago by Joyce Carol Oates. Read about 20 pages of it and actually starting getting into it. I had to put it down--I have so much stuff I should be reading. I think I'm going to hook on the audiobook for that one, though. I've only read short stories from her in The Mammoth Book of Best New Horror series . BTW, those Best New Horror Books are comprised of the who's who of the horror genre. They're not bad at all. And I've noticed some of those guys are writing some of the more popular YA books today. There's another book I want to read from Oates called The Accursed by Joyce Carol Oates that I've been eying for a while. May try to get a buddy read going for that one.

Janie, have you seen PX903? If so, what do you think about it? I'm wanting to try a program. Are you still doing Insanity?

Oh yeah, Jennifer McMahon has a new book coming out in a couple of days that sounds pretty good: The Winter People by Jennifer McMahon .

Chuck I have only done Insanity and P90X. Both are great programs and do wonders for cardio. My fave of course is Insanity. P90X got a bit boring for me, but I go back to some of the work outs now and then. The Kenpo and the yoga are pretty amazing.

I still do some of the Insanity work outs too, I went through that one twice. It has some great workouts in that one too, really great cardio. I also do the hip hop abs by the same guy who does insanity, Sean T.

I have not heard of PX903. Who is the trainer for that, do you know?

6:39AM Woke up at 4:30 this morning and could not go back to sleep. I tried for 45 minutes. I am sick again, this time it is throat. I think I got it from Amy. UGH I hate being sick. So having some coffee and a bowl of cheerios with bananas for Breakfast. Will 2nd coating the bedroom today. We were just not happy with just a single coat. Not sure what was different this time. We never had to 2nd coat any of the other rooms and we used the same paint, so not sure what happened.

I'm probably not writing it correctly. I thought it was the same guy who does the other PX90s. It's funny, they're totally in competition: Tony Horton--that's his name--comes out with a 30 minute program, and then Sean T. has a 25 minute program, lol. Haha, maybe they'll get it down to 5 and we'll all look like Greek Gods, hehe! There's totally a SNL skit there.

Katy (katyas-69) | 1731 comments Dan, if they offer to do a nerve block on your shoulder, go for it. It feel pretty weird, but it helps immensely with pain.

Terri, sorry you're feeling down.

Cindy, sorry for your pain.

Chuck, I can relate. I'm the one with the terrible pain, but I can see the toll it takes on Dmitry.

10:02 a.m. EST Sorry for the long delay to update you. Was in no condition to communicate, although Dmitry brought my computer last night. The doctor took as much out of my colon as possible, but it is Stage IV. It has spread into my ovaries, uterus, throughout my abdominal cavity. Once I've sufficiently healed from this surgery, I will have to go through radiation and chemotherapy to shrink the tumors enough to make them operable. My emotions are all over the place... obviously. Well, there is an NCIS: Los Angeles marathon on USA, so I guess I'll be numbing my brain with that.

Dan hope your surgery goes ok for you!

Katy, you will be in my thoughts and prayers. I'm sure the diagnosis was pretty shocking to receive, as it was to read. Not too sure what else to say, other than I'm sorry to hear the news.

I'd like do that from the first. I know there are a couple novels, maybe I'll read those. Was pretty burned out on zombies for a while. I used to love the horror genre, but every other book has been about zombies it seems like. Been a while for me, though.

Mark took great care of me. It will be so nice to be able to eat and drink again! You would think I could have done some reading, but I was even too sick to read. Sorry Janie I'm behind in our read. I will catch up, though! The only good thing that happened while I was sick is I received my book I ordered. Mark took off of work today just in case I was still sick. LOL. Anyways, I hope to get some reading done today. I have missed my book!

Katy, I was so sorry to hear your news. It must be such a shock. I certainly hope things will go well for you and especially that you don't suffer with pain and other symptoms. Sending you all the positive energy I can.

To all our other sickies, hope you all feel better!

6:09pm EST. I've been sick along with everyone else. It started Mon. night and all my chronic illnesses exploded--severe pain, horrible GI symptoms, abdominal distention--all the signs I get of a bowel obstruction. I'm seeing the doc on Fri. If it wasn't for my hub and Charlie, I never would have gotten through the past few days. When Charlie jumps on the bed and cuddles up with me, it's the best pain relief there is! I just had some chicken soup, first food since Mon. Just hoping to avoid the hospital and surgery at this point. Needless to say, my reading has been almost nonexistent.

5:29PM Wow I have not even been on this thread today! I spent the morning cleaning because my house has been neglected due to not feeling well. I did not even help hub finish painting. So now the bedroom is painted and my house is clean! YAY! I have not read anything today though, so I plan on that later this evening. Having tacos for dinner they are YUM! Will work out in another hour or so then settle in with some coffee and my current read, Angelfall.

Kathryn no worries about falling behind! When ya get sick you just font feel like reading. Glad you getting back to your old self.
