Many moons ago I had a little Pomeranian. After I left my first ex-husband, he came to live on the ranch with my folks. My dad said he was his lion dog screwed down for rats because he was so fierce. Such a wonderful little dog. *sigh* He saved my mom from a rattlesnake, but he was too old to survive it himself.

Tempted to go to bed, but I am hooked on The Green Mile

Katy (katyas-69) | 1731 comments 7:56 p.m. EST Had a bit of excitement here today, a duplex three over caught fire and the police were going through the neighborhood trying to have us evacuate. It was so weird because the fire trucks came without sirens. Anyway, it went out fairly quickly despite the wind and I went back to sleep. Going to do my darnedest to do some editing tonight.

message 9212: by Shell (new)

Shell (shellcampbell) | 757 comments I seem to be having a lot of trouble with notifications at the moment so I apologise if I miss something. It is very frustrating!!

11.48 AM I am feeling much brighter today thank goodness! I got a good way into Divergent last night and I so want to go home and get stuck into it again, but I am picking up 5 pounds of pork neck bones this afternoon and I need to use it to make stock tonight so that will take a few hours but hopefully once it's all prepared I can just read and keep an eye on it. I'm surprised how much I'm enjoying Divergent, I haven't read a book that's sucked me in this much in a long time!

message 9213: by Shell (last edited Jan 21, 2014 06:40PM) (new)

Shell (shellcampbell) | 757 comments @ Kathryn - I'm glad Thom got through the surgery okay, it sounds like he is recovering well considering what he has been through - that is great news.

@ Victor - food poisoning is horrible! I hope you get better really quickly!

@ Lauren - good luck with your exam, hope it goes really well :)

@ Darcy - hope you get over your cold quickly, get lots of rest and feel better soon {{{HUGS}}}

Joseph Ballenger 8:48pm Dang Janie! See, this is why you are the Mod of these fair discussions. Killing it with that reading speed! At the moment, I'm brushing up my writing skills in a few Roleplays on here. Need to be exercising some time in the near future tho :/

message 9222: by Kathryn (new)

Kathryn (kcanty313) | 1870 comments 9:05 PM. I had a few errands to run today and got those done. When I got home, I had a great workout, then Mark got home and we talked for a bit. I got a shower, and we had leftover fajitas for dinner. So yummy! Talked with my dad who is out of town, and now I've got a cup of hot unleaded (decaf coffee), and am going to read. Once Mark's episode of Dexter is over, he needs to pick out what he is going to wear tomorrow since he has to wear a tie, and I've got to iron his clothes. Oh crap! I need to go check on little kitty outside!!! I will do that now! :)

Having just acquired a Kindle Fire, reading my first ever e book In the Tall Grass, took me about 20 minutes to get used to it! But I think now my world is complete!

message 9229: by Angie (new)

Angie | 76 comments I changed to a nexus7 at Christmas Sean and it took me about a week to get used to it! It does everything the kindle does but a bit more on top. I downloaded the apps for kindle and goodreads and that was that sorted. Just wait till you get all the free books. I went a bit crazy when I got mine last years!

Shell, The Shadow of the Wind is a truly amazing book. I wasn't sure at first but when you get a little way into it , then it takes of and is great.

I hope you got your babies settled Darcy, I had my boys with only one year between them and it was often hard to get them chilled out for sleep time. Its 10.50 am here in the UK and I'm getting ready for the dentist. One filling and my teeth cleaned so not so bad:)

2:52PM Spent the morning and early afternoon with my grand baby, watching Toy story 3 and The Land Before Time. So now we are gonna play Chicken Invaders. Started reading or I should trying to read les miserable, and it is tough, so I picked up a Kristin Hannah book to read, Winter garden. But Aves does not want me reading right now.

Chuck hope the sinuses calm down a bit, Hub has been struggling with it as well. It has been bad.

Thanks Janie! LES MIS will get easier for you, I'm sure. It just an issue of style. You'll get used to it. Going from YA to that style probably takes a small adjustment period. It reads to me like Dostoyevsky, which I had problems with at first but now love.

message 9245: by GeneralTHC (new)

GeneralTHC Speaking of Dostoyevsky let me share this with you guys. I found out that Downpour is giving away the CRIME AND PUNISHMENT audiobook download through JAN 31! Woot, Woot, Woot! It's a Blackstone Audio production, too! Woot, Woot, Woot! It was also nominated for an Audie Award in 2009 which tell you it ought to be a pretty good dang performance.

Go here: http://www.downpour.com/crime-and-pun...

When you check out use 'crimefree' as the code.

What's cool about Downpour is they allow you to download MP3 and M4B files. Last time I went to Audible I could only get AA files.

It's a long tortured soul. I love Dostoyevsky, shorts because if he was in an off period it won't last so long. Genius is the word but a hit and miss for me. Let me know.... Please:)
