Oh and just realised I haven't marked off my last challenge as completed... going to go do that right now! Yay!

10:18 p.m. EST Just up from a nap, about to do more editing. Having a protein shake.
Hey, Katy! Good to see you post. Are you feeling any better? (I often think of you and all the physical stuff you have to put up with.)
10:21pm EST.Spending a relaxing evening on GR and some other sites. Got some great ideas for new books to read. (Yeah, my TBR pile isn't nearly big enough!) My older son who lives with us seems to be doing better. (He has struggled with substance abuse and bipolar disorder. He's now on disability and hasn't worked for 3 years.) Anyway, he's been spending a lot more time with me and his dad which is a big change. He went through a long period of just isolating himself in his room. Now he's even offered to help me with the Christmas baking and the cooking. (Both my boys, I'm proud to say, are excellent in the kitchen. I raised 2 great sous chefs!)

A glass of wine always does the trick for me ;)

3:41 a.m. EST Okay, the editing is done, now to finish this book. The omnibus review is supposed to be posted tomorrow, so... O.O Have around 200 pages left, so it shouldn't be a problem.
7:57AM Wow I had a good sleep last night! I ended up in bed about 10:30. I guess all of this running and crafting and such caught up to me and whooped my behind! So now just waiting for Aves to get up. He will go home tonight because he has a doctor's appt. tomorrow. Just had breakfast and will be making Aeverie's when he climbs out of bed. Plan to read some more today. I have really been missing that as of late. I would love to finish this book before vacation in Indy.
Terri so glad to hear about your son! I hope he continues to progress positively.
Kathryn will keep your friend in my prayers! I agree with Michelle I hate staying in the hospital, there is no place like home!

I am really excited! Sorry to brag!
Congratulations, Cassie! You must have been working hard in grad school.
Kathryn, I admire your energy and ability to get things done! Prayers and good thoughts for your friend Thom.
Katy, sure hope you get some help with pain relief from your doc--Jan. is just too long to wait.(I speak as someone with a lot of experience in pain--both personally as well as professionally as an RN.)
Michelle and Janie, thanks for your words of support for my son. It's been such a difficult situation. A real heart ache.
10:07am EST. It's been a good morning. Did the laundry and made some cookie dough to freeze and bake later, now spending time on GR. Also got the major prep done for dinner tonight. Now I have hours ahead to read. Hope you all have a great day!

Terri, I meant to write this to you last night, but I am glad to hear your son is being a bit more social and actually helping out in the kitchen. That is encouraging. Sometimes that's about the time they realize how they are acting towards their family and make an effort to improve. My brother is like that. I think he inherited a bit of my mother's manic depression/bipolar disorder. He's also just got anger issues and has had to go to anger management classes. The good thing is, his five kids and wife have really helped to alleviate his anger and I think it gives him motivation to strive to be better. I will keep you all in my thoughts and prayers.
11:08AM I am happy! Aeverie has allowed me to read, and he is still allowing me to read. I just wanted to come on and check in again. I am totally loving this book. Deaver is very talented.
Kathryn I hope they can figure things out for Thom. I will keep him in my prayers. Hope you too get a chance to read some today!

Chris- thank u!
6:08PM Too Aeverie to the playground again today since the weather has been so nice, So now I am enjoying coffee, will work out in a couple of hours and then read some more. Pretty sure I will finish this book tonight. it has been so good, and Aves has let me read a lot today. YAY! Amy is coming tonight to get Aves. Probably the last time I will see him till the 28th. That is gonna be a tough one.

Well done Cassie! I think you have every right to brag, that is a great effort. Isn't it always so rewarding when hard work pays off?! Thanks for sharing your good news with us :)

10:24PM Aeverie was such a doll today with allowing me to read and complete Roadside Crosses. After I finished I had my workout. I went into the library to pick up my next book for the month, Dust and Decay. I gotta say it took everything I had to not stray and pick up a book not planned for this month, Triangles. But I was good and I am sticking to the books I chose for this month.
Kathryn I am so glad that your package came! YAY!

9:45AM So Aeverie left last night and I am gonna miss him so much. I will not see him again till next Friday at our family Christmas party in Indiana. Thank goodness I have stuff to keep me occupied!
So now I sit here with my coffee, and I should eat breakfast, but I really am not hungry at the moment. I will have a glass of orange juice and maybe a banana. It is not much but it is something.
Good news! Amy and Cort got the house in our sub division which is splendid! I can see them all anytime I want to now they are just 2 streets up from us! So starting February 1st we will be neighbors and it will make things so much easier for them as well.
LOL Michelle it was really hard! As I posted in the other thread, I got so many great books after I had already decided my reads for December. But I will stick to what I chose! This list keeps me on track very well.
Katy sorry you are having to fight the doctors so much. I know that can't be much fun. Sometimes Doctors don't use the brains God gave them. It is sad.

The Gizmo and the Pepper are still in bed...go figure. I really want some coffee, and after it is made, I'm going to go get in my reading chair and work on this Deaver novel. I read more than I thought I would when I got into bed last night. I know there is going to be a twist in the story, so have no idea where this is going. We shall see! Janie already knows, so she has been torturing me with texts about how good it is. hahahah!!!
Janie, I am so happy to hear Amy and Cort were approved for the house!! I bet that is going to be wonderful for all of you. I bet you are going to miss Aeverie! I hate leaving my loved ones for that long of time. It's nice to get away, but then you miss them so much. By the end, you're dying to get home so you can see them. haha!
Michelle, here's the recipe! It was really, really good. Mark kept saying he loved the sauce! :) : In the bottom of your crockpot, drizzle a little olive oil on the bottom. Make a mixture of 1/4 tsp of Paprika, 1 tsp of salt, 1/4 pepper, 1/4 tsp of lemon pepper seasoning. Get 3-6 chicken breasts, bone in, or bone out. (I used 3 breasts last night, because it's just us two. The recipe calls for 6.) Rub the seasoning mixture into the chicken. Put chicken into crockpot. Mix 1 can (10-3/4 oz) of cream of mushroom soup, undiluted, 1 cup (8oz) of sour cream, 1 cup of chicken broth. 1/2 pound of mushrooms, sliced. Mix the mushrooms in with the sauce. Pour it over chicken. Cook for 6-8 hours, until chicken reaches 170 degrees. It was so yummy!! I served this over No Yolk egg noodles. For a veggie, I did steamed squash, but I think it could go well with peas, carrots, green beans, broccoli, a salad, or really any veggie.

Also, heard of a very funny creature today. Asian Stink Badger. *snicker* They're a type of skunk.

I'm wondering if I don't have any distractions (T.V.), if I can finish this book. I read 70 pages earlier, so I might be able to knock another big chunk out of it. I am really enjoying this book because I have no idea where it is going, just like the last Deaver book I read.
Looking forward to some wine or coffee and maybe, hopefully finishing Roadside Crosses. I do miss my sweet husband, since we've only seen each other for a short amount of time today, but like the saying goes, "Absence makes the heart grow fonder." :)

i resemble that remark! :D
this is everyday... plus the nervous-nelly pregnant pts who want to know:
pt: is swelliing feet is normal???
me: mmm, let me think?? Yyyyeeessss.
pt: I am sweating, moody, and then cold; and why am I so nauseated?? Is this normal??
me: YYYEESSS. ... Pregnant women have no common sense. None.
Side Note: Women have been having babies for thousands of years. The last hundred with a doctor present, and yet the population still managed to grow.
i love them, but sometimes i just hold my head down..

9:00 pm and we're waiting to see if the grandbaby is coming tonight. His mama is having contractions 6 mins apart...

woot-woot!! :D
11:54PM Had another pretty busy day today, but got stuff done so it is all good. We were out most of the day, came home, worked out, showered, then finished off the crafts, so those are done. Just had some coffee and now I might read a bit before bed.

Janie, that is so exciting that Amy & Cort are going to be living nearby - what awesome news!
5.15 PM Last day of work tomorrow - woot! I have until the 6th of Jan of so it will be nice to have a decent break. I think I've finally managed to get all my Christmas shopping done so I think tonight will be spent wrapping them all up. It's beginning to feel a lot like Christmas... :D

6:24 p.m. EST Hubby is playing chauffeur and hauling some of his coworkers to Atlanta today. One is going to India to marry and then bring back more slave labor for Dairy Queen... O.o I have one more book for which I've promised a review and then I'm going back to my Star Trek...

8:59AM Sitting here in a very quiet house, it's just me and I am reflecting back on memories. A very tender day for me. Today, 28 years ago, I lost my dad to CAD - Coronary Artery Disease. I miss him so much. So after my boo boo session I had my coffee and got here to check GR out. I hope everyone has a beautiful day today! I plan on reading and hopefully get a big chunk of my book read.
Janie, this poem made me think of you today.
The Meeting
by Henry Wadsworth Longfellow
After so long an absence
At last we meet again:
Does the meeting give us pleasure,
Or does it give us pain?
The tree of life has been shaken,
And but few of us linger now,
Like the Prophet's two or three berries
In the top of the uttermost bough.
We cordially greet each other
In the old, familiar tone;
And we think, though we do not say it,
How old and gray he is grown!
We speak of a Merry Christmas
And many a Happy New Year
But each in his heart is thinking
Of those that are not here.
We speak of friends and their fortunes,
And of what they did and said,
Till the dead alone seem living,
And the living alone seem dead.
And at last we hardly distinguish
Between the ghosts and the guests;
And a mist and shadow of sadness
Steals over our merriest jests.

Janie so sorry about your Dad. We lost my middle sister 31 years ago and we all still reach out to each other on Feb. 2, for a few boohoos, it's still hard. My heart is with you today. You are lucky to have your daughter moving closer. What a great Christmas present.
Kathryn, sorry about your headache. I'm going to make your chicken recipe tonight. Do you think it will be okay if I cut up a whole chicken to use?
Michelle, it is beginning to look a lot like Christmas. Yay! My hubby has the same days off. Ironic...hope you enjoy everyone of them. Good luck wrapping:)
Alondra, as usual, you crack me up, hope you are enjoying the season:)
Hope all are well and will try to check back in soon♥
