Kathryn (kcanty313) | 1870 comments I almost bought Crank, but I know it's part of a series. I'll keep an eye out for her books, though. I've seen Crank at HPB on clearance for a $1.

message 8402: by Victor (new)

Victor I just spend over 35 $ for free shipping Lol I don't buy through third parties on Amazon. The price for new hardcover books are the same price as what I'd pay for a paperback:)

11:18 PM I should be going to bed but I'm listening to my iPod and will soon be reading more of Allegiant.

Yea Kathryn Crank is the first one in the series. It is pretty good as well.

Victor I almost always buy 3rd party, I quite enjoy getting books for a penny! LOL

Kathryn (kcanty313) | 1870 comments 12:28 PM. Laying in bed with my girl Gizmo. Going to try to read for a while, but I'm kind of sleepy. Goodnight, GR..,

Katy (katyas-69) | 1731 comments Oh, yeah, the being charged two shipping fees for two books from the same seller makes me crazy. Really they should combine in that case, y'know?

4:26 a.m. EST Took a short nap, but was uncomfortable from having eaten some pasta yesterday and as a result ended up awake. Will try to sleep again soon. Hubby has double shift today, so will need to wake him early.

9:58AM Just had breakfast and going to read now. I will finish up Hunger Games today. I would have already had it dine on day 2 at least, but when Aves is here it is so difficult to read. Enjoying some coffee right now and GR.

Michelle I look forward to reading with you! I have only seen this movie I have not read the book.

✨Susan✨ (suswelch) | 904 comments Good morning GR Buddies. Hope all are well and avoiding the cold season illnesses. I'm trying to get all postal gifts sent and decorating in between shopping. Good thing I can listen to my book or I don't think I would get to read at all. I still have 7 Christmas books to get to. Already going 100 mph today, just wanted to drop in and say hi:)

Michelle, so glad that you are home and getting some good reading done.

Happy Belated Anniversary Terri. 37 years. WOW!

Catching up on GR and trying to work out with the crazy week I have left when I will ever pick up a book

Kathryn (kcanty313) | 1870 comments 11:26 AM. Wow...Getting on this thread later than usual. About to settle in for some reading. I'd REALLY, REALLY like to finish P&P, do my reviews, and start my buddy read of Gaiman's The Ocean At the End of the Lane. It's a pretty short read. Anyways, I might try to workout early this afternoon. They are trimming trees across the street from my reading window, so hopefully that won't be a distraction. LOL.

Katy (katyas-69) | 1731 comments Misty wrote: "It is 6:05am and I am watching my cat lose her mind running around like crazy."

Misty, my husband and I call this "going bananas time". Cats are crepuscular, which means they are most active at dawn and gloaming, so there you go. :-)

4:50 p.m. EST I did not want to leave my dreams today... Anyway, lots of stuff came up apparently and I've been at e-mail for well over an hour already. Have decided I must see the Nicolas Cage movies Kick-Ass and Vampire's Kiss. It was really a lovely day here, though - when I went to grab the mail the sun had come out (it's been mostly cloudy and raining the past couple days) and it felt so nice. I think it was in the lower 70s.

message 8412: by Shell (new)

Shell (shellcampbell) | 757 comments 9.36 AM Feeling very unmotivated today, I hope the day goes quickly! I'd much rather be at home snuggled up on the couch, reading a book than to be here at work :( Toby and I are going to get Thai takeaway and a movie tonight since it is our wedding anniversary so that will be nice. We're going out to a fancy restaurant for lunch on Sunday - can't wait!

I finally finished Pet Sematary last night so will now start Cujo for my buddy read with Janie. I might get a bit read today in my lunch break, but probably won't make any real progress until tomorrow night :/

message 8413: by Kathryn (new)

Kathryn (kcanty313) | 1870 comments 5:10 PM. Just finished Pride and Prejudice. It wasn't bad. I will write my review after my workout, though. I really need to get back into my hour long workouts. Taking last week off has been nothing but preventing me from doing so. Lol. I will do it hopefully today!!! Looking forward to starting The Ocean at the End of the Lane later tonight. :)

Katy (katyas-69) | 1731 comments 6:22 p.m. EST Oh, dear, the camel's back is broken. I have that one more book to try to read/review in the next three weeks that means I need to back off Star Trek and focus on reading for a few days... Off to do so!

GeneralTHC 5:31 PM

Bout to get back to my book. I cannot believe how lucky I've been in finding good books lately! I probably should have rated THE GOOD LORD BIRD at 5 stars. It makes me want to go read a bunch antebellum era stories. Either way, I'm really eating up the historical fiction these days. I think it's safe to say it's my favorite genre now.

message 8416: by Katy (new)

Katy (katyas-69) | 1731 comments Well-written historical fiction can be really good.

message 8417: by GeneralTHC (new)

GeneralTHC Katy wrote: "Well-written historical fiction can be really good."

Most definitely. It's often literary fiction as well.

Another genre I would like to explore more is mystery. I haven't read very much mystery and that's a pretty huge genre to miss out on.

message 8421: by Kathryn (new)

Kathryn (kcanty313) | 1870 comments 11:55 PM. Mark took a nap after I got done working out, and stayed asleep for a while. While he was asleep, I wrote my review for Pride and Prejudice. I didn't get to do my video review, but I will do that in the morning. When he finally woke up, we were talking about dinner, and my aunt who moved to Montana called. We talked for about an hour. It was so great to talk to her. She loves to read as much as I, and is the one who got me into King, so of course, she asked, "So, what are you reading these days?" I bet if we could, we'd talk for hours about books. haha! After I got off of the phone, Mark said he wanted to go get a Christmas tree. I still hadn't eaten dinner yet, but he said he wasn't hungry, so I waited. The grocery store I go to, Kroger, has some of the best trees and prices, so that's where we get our tree every year. Supposedly, tomorrow's weather is supposed to get really nasty with ice and I think some sleet. So, we picked up a few groceries while we were there, just in case. I picked up a t.v. dinner while we were at the store, and ate it once we got home and put up the groceries. I've been catching up on GR, and queueing up The Ocean At the End of the Lane to start reading on my Kindle.

In case I don't make it back tonight, goodnight, GR......

12:00AM Well midnight and I am beat! I wanted to be able to read some more, but that is just not gonna happen. Aeverie went to sleep around 8 so he will be awake early tomorrow so I will not be napping after Kay goes to school. Sweet Dreams to all of my GR friends! Nighters!

7:46AM Well looks like I was wrong last night when I said Aeverie would be awake early lol because he is actually still asleep, but I already had some coffee so I am up for the day. Had breakfast and now I plan on reading some before we have to hit town today. Storm sposed to roll in around 6:00PM So we have a little time. I certainly hope Perfect shows up today. Amazon shows delivered, sign for by Justin Post, so hopefully that means it was delivered to Justin and not me, cause I did not get anything. LOL Hopefully today. I am not totally trusting when it comes to our post.

Oh, cool, thanks Susan, I'll be sure and check that out!

Right now I've decided to give Wolf Hall a go. I hope I don't end up abandoning it. I like these Booker Winners though, so, we'll see. I've heard both good and bad about it from people whose opinions I admire.

It is SO cold. I think it's a lot colder west of Dallas-Ft. Worth than they're reporting. It never gets to me like this--ever. If it does what they say it's going to here it will definitely make a mess of everything. Texans are a bunch of no-driving-in-winter-weather motor scooters.

Mark is hoping the weather gets bad so he won't have to go into work tomorrow. The weather is supposed to get pretty icy, but so far, it's below freezing, cold, and drizzling. There hasn't been any ice or sleet, as far as I can tell. Drinking a little Sweet Red and about to get reading. I'm really looking forward to this Gaiman read. :) I hope all of my Texas friends, I know there are a few of us, have a safe few days in this bad, icy weather. :)

Thanks for the tip, Chuck! I've really been into historical fiction lately too.

8:23am EST. Up, showered, one cup of coffee in and about to hit number two. Pretty cold this am and we're supposed to get 5-8 inches of snow. I love it! (I also don't have to drive in it!)(or shovel it). Plan for today is just to take it easy and do a lot of reading. I'm been having some physical problems and also feeling quite a bit down. Greetings to all my GR friends and hope you all have a great day!

Looks like we're in for a chilly, icy, sleety weekend. Good thing for books, coffee, warm blankets, and we're one of the lucky ones with power.

Always love hearing from you, Terri! Keep warm and snuggle up with Charlie! Well, at least I'm going to make Gizmo snuggle with me. She keeps me warm! :)

Janie, don't want to wake you up by texting you, but how are you doing up there? I heard you guys might have gotten snow. Hope you have power!

Enjoying some coffee right now and will get some breakfast soon.

Susan next month is great! I have a list of books for this month already anyway.

Kathryn we are doing good so far. I don't think we got snow but we got a ton of ice laying out there on the ground, it looks like snow lol only it is crunchy LOL. It sleeted all night long and this morning still is a little bit. I kept waking up to the pinging on my bedroom window.

Having a Gingerbread coffee with a Mars swirl while making brunch for the natives. Yummy.
It snowed here a bit last night mixed with frozen ice, about 2". Nooobody is driving in our area. No tire tracks in our neighborhood. My little yorkie and I both had our ski suits on this morning so she could do her business. So cute! Hope everybody in the Dallas area can stay safe and warm at home with a good book.

Thank you Katy, we are sure lucky to still have our little sweet doggie.

Sounds good Janie, next month it is. Hope you guys like Cujo, it was scary but also, strangely, pulled at my heart strings.
