11:25pm EST. It's been quite a while since I've posted due to some ongoing family problems. Been catching up with everyone on GR for the last 20 minutes. Both my sons have been in car wrecks in the past week, neither of which was their fault. Thankfully they are both unhurt. One car was totaled, so my son that lives with us no longer has any transportation (welcome to the bus, son). (Like he needs any more problems.) My other son was in a 6 car pileup on the interstate in Cleveland going to work this am. His car has some repairable damage but 3 of the 6 cars involved were totaled. So I am feeling pretty blessed and lucky for their safety. I'm hoping that my older son is finally on the right path after again being in the hospital for a week for mental health and substance abuse issues. It's been a tremendous stress for my hub and me. I haven't been sleeping much, so I'm planning on another night of reading. Good night and sweet dreams everyone!

Katy, are you finally felling better?

Janie, believe it or not I long for the days of teenage attitude! (Although I have to say, I never had a girl to deal with which I understand can be especially difficult for moms.)

Chuck, glad to see you're back! I wondered what was going on.

Kathryn, I'm spending tomorrow catching up on 3 episodes of PR. I'll also chime in on what a gem Mark is!

Nhi, welcome!!

10:42PM Enjoying some quiet time after Hub and Kay were butting heads. :/ Both are asleep, Aves is home with mama, son is playing Madden 3 and I get to read. I decided to stick with The Twelve and at least get this one finished by tomorrow.

Terri so sorry to hear about both accidents, so glad both your boys are ok though, It is a scary thing to think about.

Katy (katyas-69) | 1731 comments Oh, wow Terri, that's scary! I'm glad neither of your sons was injured. And no, not really feeling any better. I started to on Tuesday, but then by Wednesday night I was feeling blechy again.

10:04 a.m. EST Would rather be sleeping. I'll try again shortly.

9:15AM been reading this AM and enjoying the peace and quiet. Making progress in The Twelve and hope to have it done by this evening then I can work on The sleeping doll some more and Miss Peregrines Home for Peculiar children. Gonna get some coffee now and enjoy some more read time. Late this afternoon it will be grocery time. UGH!

message 8055: by Kathryn (new)

Kathryn (kcanty313) | 1870 comments 9:27 AM. Enjoying some coffee and have no idea what to eat for breakfast. Nothing sounds good, but I'm hungry. I made some good progress in The Sleeping Doll last night. I am going to try and make even better progress today. I need to start the dishwasher and maybe a load of laundry, but other than that, an uneventful day. I will workout like usual, though.

Terri, I am so sorry to hear about both sons' accidents. I'm glad to hear they are okay. When it rains, it definitely pours, right? Just remember at the end of the storm, there is a rainbow. Or at least that is what I tell myself in tough times. (((Hugs))) to you, my friend. Tell cutie puppy Charlie hi for me. :)

Alondra Miller 11:54am ET. About to go to lunch. I am at work and it is slow... so far. :O

Katy (katyas-69) | 1731 comments 6:36 p.m. EST Trying to decide whether to watch something or try again to sleep. Not having much luck at the latter today.

message 8059: by Kathryn (new)

Kathryn (kcanty313) | 1870 comments 9:30 PM. After my workout, my dad called and said he wanted to take us out to dinner tonight since he got back last night from his oil rig. I got ready and Mark took a nap for a while until my dad got here. We went to Rockfish, and I had some delicious cedar plank salmon. After we got back home, my dad sat here and played with his "grand kitties" for a while. He left not too long ago, so I got my pajamas on, and now we're watching Gold Rush. When this is over, I'm going to get back into The Sleeping Doll.

9:42AM Just got back from a day out. Got groceries done, had a visit at the UBS. Which is always great! Found some great books of course. Now waiting on coffee and will dig into The Sleeping Doll, and more of Miss Peregrine.

How fun at Rockfish, and so sad to see him go:(
.. I make steal eyed trout on cedar plank on my BBQ. Soooo good. Got a great recipe if you want.:). Hope your Dad is soon back home for a while. xo. It's never fun to see them go. "Heart, heart".

1:25am EST. The house is quiet, Charlie is sleeping on the floor next to my bed, and I'm again on GR since I can't sleep. Reading some short stories tonight since I don't want to start anything new till I get my haul from the library tomorrow (14 books--some excellent stuff!)

Kathryn, I forgot to tell you how much I like your new photo--it's superb!!

Terri it sounds like you have a great haul of books to look forward too! Sorry you can't sleep. I am pretty sure I could, but I am kinda stuck on The Sleeping Doll right now and I would like to make some more progress in it. It really is a good story so far. Would love to finish it by tomorrow.

message 8066: by Kathryn (new)

Kathryn (kcanty313) | 1870 comments 1:10 AM. Just got ready for bed and now I'm catching up on GR. Have hair appointments at ten. I'm so looking forward to a trim.

Susan, I actually don't really like trout, unfortunately. I fly fish for trout, so I have a hard time eating them, to be honest. They are beautiful creatures. Thank you for the recipe though!

Terri, thank you! Mark is so handsome I'm not sure how I got so lucky. :)

Janie, I hope to finish The Sleeping Doll tomorrow, too. I love this book!

10:15AM Already been out this AM. Kitty needed some cat food! He will drive us nuts if we wait too long. LOL He follows us around the house meowing in protest! LOL So going to get my vlog uploaded, perhaps a walk today, and definitely finishing The Sleeping Doll today so I can continue on with Miss Peregrine's. I was up will almost 3:00 AM reading The Sleeping Doll. I have so many books to choose from after I finish Ashes to Ashes. Sheesh it hurts me to think about and then decide what I shall read next!

Kathryn hopes for you to also have a great Saturday!

Katy (katyas-69) | 1731 comments 11:55 a.m EST Finally managed to sleep, albeit in increments - 3 hours here, 4 hours there... I still feel exhausted, but that's likely because I can't eat and have been living off very small quantities of soft food all week. I almost passed out last night just walking to the bedroom door. *sigh* I hope this clears up soon. I'm falling father behind on everything.

Alondra Miller 12:38pm ET. got sick after my sons football game last night. perfect night for a game:

raining
bigger team
cold
wind blowing
no hat/gloves/umbrella

I screamed, cheered, hollered and watched our physically smaller team, with no passing game; beat those guys 28-7. What a fun game.

**Please note that they started out by giving our team a good spanking; and those last 21 points did not come until 3rd Qtr.**

Kathryn (kcanty313) | 1870 comments 12:30 PM. Just finished lunch. My hair feels a lot better. Now, Mark is going to go out and do some woodwork, so I am going to go sit in my reading chair and try to knock out the rest, or most of it, of The Sleeping Doll.

Janie, I hope you are having a great day also! I am looking forward to Roadside Crosses!

Alondra, I love football! If we lived closer to each other, I'd go cheer on your son's team and act a fool.

I just finished the fourth one, and every single one has left me with a smile on my face. Excellent books. Now I'm clearing out e-mail and once I've finished I'll likely take a nap.

I couldn't put Miss Peregreins down last night so it was after midnight by the time I went to bed. I'm trying to decide whether to read Pretty Little Liars or Pet Sematary next. Kathryn, I haven't forgotten about Firestarter so let me know if/when you're ready for that. Janie, I think we were aiming for 1st Dec for Cujo - does that still sound ok?

Holly miss you too!

Had him fix me some rice (cooked in broth instead of water) and plunked some margarine in it and ate it. So far so good. Will probably go back to sleep before too long to try to make up for the past couple weeks. Or not. We'll see.

message 8085: by Kathryn (new)

Kathryn (kcanty313) | 1870 comments 11:00 PM. I read for a while, and then The Giz and I took a little nap. I read a bit more after my nap with Gizmo, then Mark came in and asked if I wanted to go to Lowe's with him. We spent what felt like FOREVER in there, then we went to a wood working store, where we spent what it felt again like FOREVER in there, too. haha! Then, we went to the store and got some things for dinner. I had a chef salad and some garlic bread. Mark ate something else like fish. We've been watching Dexter, and since it's on and distracting me from reading, I made my grocery list for tomorrow and planned meals for this week. I hope everyone is having a great evening! I'm looking forward to reading some this evening....I hope. haha!

Kathryn (kcanty313) | 1870 comments 9:55 AM. Good morning, GR!!!!!!!!!! I'm enjoying some orange juice, and thinking about breakfast. I need to get laundry started, do the dishes, and go grocery shopping. Ugh...Anyone want to volunteer to grocery shop for me? I don't mind the cleaning part. After I get all of that done, I'm going to read. The kitties and The Boy are happy this morning, and this makes me happy. Maybe I can convince Mark to go grocery shopping with me since I went to Lowe's and Woodcraft with him yesterday. See how I think?? Heh.....

✨Susan✨ (suswelch) | 904 comments 10:10am. Good Morning GR. Feeling like a zombie this morning. Up until 2:45am with kids going in and out then up at 4:45 to go give one a ride home. Back to sleep by 6:00 and re-awoken at 9:00 by kids back from the club and in the hot tub. Argh. Oh, to be young and have sleep be unnecessary. Finishing, Bury Your Dead, today. Hope you all have a great Sunday:))

Terri, hope your boys are doing better. What a relief to have them all in one piece:/. Take care

Janie and Michelle, I surely enjoyed Cujo, the book better than the movie because you get to hear what the poor dog is going through in his mind. Hope you both like it. Happy reads.

Hi Kathryn, I always try to get one of the boys go with me shopping. It is truly a chore to feed 3 guys. I love the company and the muscle. ;) hope it's not too crowded!

LOL Susan I had to laugh at that one!
Kathryn, I think it is a good idea that Mark goes with you to grocery shop. It's like a 50/50 thing right?

message 8097: by Kathryn (new)

Kathryn (kcanty313) | 1870 comments 1:40 PM. I just finished putting up the groceries and am feeling so great my grocery shopping is DONE! I even got a few things for Thanksgiving dinner. Mark didn't go with me this time. To be honest, I have a list, my coupons, and all of my meal planning in my head. He just buys a bunch of junk food and then wonders how we spent so much. So, to summarize, I save a lot of money just going by myself. I just want his company. :) I am now going to clean house and get dishes and laundry going. I want to get all of this done way before dinner so I can read some before my dad gets here. Tonight, I'm making yellow curry chicken with onions and squash, served over jasmine rice, and egg rolls. Can't wait. Maybe I can go get a 1/2 price drink at Sonic for being a good wife?! Heh....jk.

I threw chicken in the crockpot with a white wine cream sauce. Fresh onion, carrots, celery, mushrooms, water chestnuts and a bit of broccoli. Going to add some peas and bit of small chunk potato's later. I made some biscuits and will drop those on top for the last half hour. Kind of a chicken pot pie or chicken and dumpling something or other. Hope it tastes as good as it smells!
We don't get much good fresh fish here either. SAMs is really the only place for fresh and variety for fish. I thought you all would have better options for fish being closer to the coast?
