3:19PM Have been reading a lot. Want to possibly read to 600 now. Aves is here now so I don't know how possible that will be. Got the laundry done and will having dinner soon. Gonna try and read some more.

Kathryn (kcanty313) | 1870 comments 5:10 PM. Mark's hospital called me a bit ago to tell me I have an interview on Friday. My friend isn't going walking/hiking today, so I'm going to go running here. My chores are done and tonight is a late night for Mark, so maybe after I run I will be able to read a bit more before he gets home. I hope everyone has been having a great day. :)

6:18 p.m. and I'm staying home tonight. Gonna try to finish, or at least nearly finish, Devil's Knot: The True Story of the West Memphis Three tonight. Quiet around here right now and I hope it stays that way. Cheating tonight and shoving a heat-up pizza in the oven.

Kathryn - good luck on your interview!

I'm feeling better and I felt better about an hour later and feel also last night. Alondra I hope you feel better. A head full of helium, yup I know how that feels and couldn't have said it better.

8:16PM Got back from playground about a half hour ago. Aves loves it there. I took my book but did not get to read. Just finished coffee and now hoping to read some more.

Hiya Paula!! Nice to see you posting. Hope all is well with you.

Kathryn I hope that your interview goes well. Let us know how it goes! Good luck!

Lee I will have to look and see if I do have it. I have been enjoying post apocalyptic books lately.

message 6465: by Lee (new)

Lee (leeshirk) | 203 comments Janie, I wouldn't classify it as such, the name is deceiving in that aspect. It is set in present day, but does lead to cut off societies, cannibalism, and inbreeding, government conspiracies, and a whole ton load of other stuff.

Wow I wonder why the Author would title it that. That is a little odd. I guess because of your description there that those are classic signs of Apocalypse? So the title would fit.

Kathryn (kcanty313) | 1870 comments 10:00 PM. I'm sitting here with a cute little Gizmo baby on my lap. Mark got home around 8:30, and had dinner: baked Mac and cheese and green beans. I've been watching a little football but I'm eager to get back into my book.

Cindy and Janie, thank you! I will let you all know how it goes! :)

Alondra, sorry to hear you're not feeling well, I hope you're much better asap!

Chris, great to hear you're feeling better now. I hope you had a nice movie night with your wife :)

12.35pm Busy morning at work. Going to go out for a break soon, just trying to work out what to cook for dinner so that I can go to the shop while I'm out. Not looking forward to doing washing etc when I get home, but I just realised if I don't do it tonight then I probably won't have any clean clothes to take with me to Melbourne lol.

Kathryn, great luck on the job interview! Glad your allergies are better.

Chris, hope you enjoyed your movie night with your wife--you deserve it for all you put up with at work!

10:49am EDT. Haven't posted for quite a few days. Still battling the pain and the depression that comes with it. Saw the ortho doc yesterday and he gave me a shot and prescribed some more tests for nerve pain, so I have to wait 2 weeks for that. It's discouraging. I'm even having trouble getting distracted by reading or cooking, my usual standbys. Even the puppy seems a little out of it today. I can't distract him by playing and he's not interested in his treats--very unusual! What a pair we make...Hope everyone else is having a better day!!

10:33AM Been up since 6:30, got Kay off to school Aves was up early, around 6:45. He fell back to sleep for about 20 min. LOL Had breakfast did a 9 min mission. Put some stress my knee yesterday during a workout, no pain but it feels pretty weak. Have to be careful what I do today. Won't be the first time though. I have dealt with bad knees all my life it seems. Just came inside from cleaning up the pumpkin bed. Found a couple other pumpkins that might do ok. Will share a picture soon of Ave's good pumpkin. Hoping these other ones will grow now. Don't have much time.

Terri sorry to hear of your pain and depression! (((HUGS))) for you and some healing prayers coming your way.

Kathryn (kcanty313) | 1870 comments 11:34 AM. I've been up for a while, but for some reason, I've been dragging today. I have been reading and trying to finish this short story. I have 84 pages left to read, and the other two are much shorter. So, my focus is finishing Apt Pupil. I need to finish up the laundry, which is definitely attainable today. Hope everyone is having a great day!

Thank you, Terri!! :)

I hope everyone else is having a good day:)

Kathryn (kcanty313) | 1870 comments 9:29 PM. I'm kind of pissed to be honest. I was under the impression I would be walking with the two people I have been hiking with. Neither showed up, when I was under the impression at least one was going to be there. Oh well. I walked by myself and fortunately, I had brought my iPod. I stopped by the store and bought a few cans of chick peas and fresh jalapeños so I can make hummus tomorrow! I can't wait! I also bought some carrots for dipping. Dinner is in the oven, and we are watching last night's episode of Under the Dome. I can't wait to read later.

9:43PM Wow this book is crazy! That's all I am saying! I am loving that Aves went to sleep, hub also in Bed. So it is nothing but PEACE AND QUIET! So reading is quite enjoyable right now. Not sure I will be able to wait to read The Twelve, but I have other buddy reads coming up. LOL

Veronica I really do enjoy having the library. It is a nice quiet space if I need it, like if hub decides to watch video or listen to music, I can just go in there and focus.

Kathryn, YAY! You can make hummus! Yum you make me wanna go have some to eat now, but it is too late for that. it is very addicting. I eat it up and instantly make more. I always make sure I have the stuff for it. LOL

**waves** Victor!

11:37pm EDT. Boy, hummus sounds terrific right about now! Plan to drink my diet Squirt and try to do some reading. Rest of the house is asleep. I'm reading about a baby with Tay Sachs disease, and boy it really puts things in perspective! Have a restful night all my GR friends!

Shell (shellcampbell) | 757 comments I feel for your Terri, pain and depression are horrible things on their own and especially horrible when experienced together :/ I hope you experience some relief from both soon (((HUGS))).

Kathryn, I can totally understand why you're upset - it's a horrible feeling to be let down by people. So glad you went for a walk anyway, good on you!

message 6488: by Katy (new)

Katy (katyas-69) | 1731 comments For some reason I haven't been receiving updates, so my apologies to anything I missed. Terri I can relate. *hugs* Alondra, it's quite okay to not like hummus, I'll eat your share.

7:08 a.m. EDT Just clearing out a few bits of e-mail before I go back to the place to go in for inpatient detox. Turns out when I went in yesterday the counselor AGAIN wasn't there and AGAIN they'd tried to reschedule me and AGAIN the call hadn't come through (this time because the phone was out of juice) and I just lost it. I finally managed to explain I was running out of time, they had me fill out a form then they talked to my doctor, who finally explained to SOMEONE what he was hoping to accomplish by sending me there, and they said that was basically my only option because if I did things the proper way it would take weeks to see their doctor and mine would not cover my meds until such a time. So I'm a bit freaked out, and a lot unhappy, to have been pushed into an emergency detox rather than weaning off like I had explained to my doctor I wanted to do so as to have minimal impact on my schedule. Fortunately I was so freaked out on Monday that I did all my work for this week AND the week after next, so next week's manuscript is the only one that will end up delayed, and I originally had him scheduled for October, so it shouldn't mess up my schedule too much in the end. Anyway, I have no idea how long it will take; obviously each person is unique so there is no way to guess. Meanwhile I'll have my Nook and the Honor Harrington series to read, although I need to finish the book I'm currently reading first. I'll probably not write reviews, or just basic ones, because I'll have to just take notes. Doubt I'll be able to have my computer. But as long as they don't push me into a bunch of stupid group therapy and let me do things sort of my own way, hopefully it'll be bearable. We'll see. So, I'll miss all of you! Take care of yourselves, and I'll see you on the flip side. And probably be a much grouchier person...

8:11AM Aves is watching Shrek's Halloween special. LOL He is loving Halloween so much this year. Yesterday he tried to scare me with a Mask that belongs to my son. So when he snuck up behind me I gave him a scream and he laughed uncontrollably for about 5 min. It was a memory to keep forever.

So hopefully today I will finish The Passage. If I do in fact finish it, then I will work on You Don't Want to Know, so I can check that off of my A-Z challenge. Wanna knock these books down by the 15th for my next buddy read.

Katy, I hope you can get all of that squared away. People are ridiculous. Keep your chin up.

message 6493: by Kathryn (new)

Kathryn (kcanty313) | 1870 comments 11:28 AM. Enjoying some coffee and about to read. I've been reflecting and looking at the 9/11 memorial and remembrances on TV. I was 16 at the time, and it had a profound affect on me, like many I'm sure. Anyways, I'm going to get to reading and hopefully make some headway on this book!

Okay, funny story: Last night, at four in the morning, I guess in my sleep I said something about a spider, and Mark freaked out and we got out of bed, turned on the lights, took the sheets off, picked up the mattress, shook the sheets out, and took the pillow out of the pillowcase, then put it all back on the bed. We didn't see a spider. Hahaha! When I thought about it this morning, I don't think there ever was a spider!! Haha! I think what happened was my hair blew in my face and maybe in my sleep, it felt like a spider? Haha! My poor husband!
