Oh, I love Jeffrey Deaver and the Chelsea Cain books were good, too; I've read the first 3 or 4 of those.

Karin slaughter is yet another author I've heard good things about and need to try one of these days- I have heard it's better to start with her grant county series if you want to avoid spoilers :OI read and loved the Connelly book I read this year and by some miracle it's a stand alone although I think the character makes an appearance in one of the bosch novels. the book I read is Blood Work

A Darkness More Than Night. It is a cross over with Harry Bosch and an amazing read.
Rachel wrote: "Thanks Chris! I've really got to start the bosch series soon :)"If you liked Blood Work you will really enjoy the Bosch series. Good luck with it.
7:30PM Still at work and clearly I'm bored. I've been hiding out here on GR all day and getting a little reading in. Can't wait to get off of work and head home only to turn right around and be back here tomorrow morning.
7:45PM Took Aeverie home and Daughter treated us to a freebird burrito and she made mine healthy yay! I am not sure what type of tortilla that was I think tomato something or other. LOL Anyway got them home, stopped and got my Cinnabon creamer. My book came today yay! the PB of The Passage. That made me very happy. It only cost me $1.95 plus shipping. Sitting here drinking coffee and excited to get back to The Passage this evening. I am really enjoying it. Pretty excited about Mine and Kathryn's book date tomorrow! So fun and exciting!
Chris I actually just thought of something about these spoilers. LOL It does not really matter since I tend to forget all these stories relatively easy. heh So which Slaughter book should I start with first?

Well this is a big spoiler and I know you wont forget this one. I would still start with either Blindsighted, which is the first book she wrote and the first of the Grant county series, or Tryptic. I haven't read the early Will Trent series yet because I have the last book in the Grant County series to read. Some of the crime scene are grisly even for me, but she is amazing. I started with Fallen and loved it. I have read every book that has come out since and I am still trying to make my way through the older books to catch up to fallen.
Chris wrote: "Well this is a big spoiler and I know you wont forget this one. I would still start with either Blindsighted, which is the first book she wrote and the first of the Grant county series, or Tryptic...."
Ok but I should probably start with Blindsighted right? because Triptych is the first of the spoiler series. I also discovered that I do in fact have fractured, book 2 of the Will Trent series. I saw that cover and was like "I have that book!" So I had to go look. LOL

You can read the first 2 in the Will Trent series and probably be ok. The 3rd book apparently starts the cross over with the characters from the Grant County series so that would be when you would possibly run into a problem.
10:39 p.m. and I just got home. Been a rough couple of days. I was in a lot of pain yesterday and today my best friend is in the hospital with kidneys that refuse to work. A bit overwhelmed right now but I'm gonna try to read for a short time to unwind. Exhausted so it won't be long. I'm just grateful that Barbara decided to go to the hospital. It takes a lot of persuasion for her to go. Hope everyone had a great day. I plan on having a wonderful night. Go to my fantasy land in my dreams and enjoy the vacation.
9:50 PM. My friend and I went on a 3.5 mile hike again. It was great. I came home and immediately started making chicken fried rice. My first attempt and it was yummy. I need to get a shower, then I'm going to get back into Different Seasons. I'm really excited about meeting Janie tomorrow for book shopping! Cindy, I'm so sorry you've had such a rough day. I will keep you and your friend in my prayers. I hope you are able to relax a little tonight and get some rest. *HUGS*
Done deal Kathryn! I will make it happen. Rest and pleasant dreams coming my way. Thank you for the prayers. They are much needed right now.
10:18PM Read to pg. 200 this evening in The Passage. This is some crazy stuff going on. I am totally enjoying it. I am very sleepy tonight, So I think I am gonna turn in.
Cindy sorry you have had a couple of rough days. Hope things smooth out for you. Hugs!

Take care, Cindy, and I hope your friend receives the help she needs. *hugs*11:54 p.m. EDT Finally seeing my doctor tomorrow to talk about weaning off my meds now that Dragon*Con is past. Not looking forward to this, but needs to be done. I hope he'll help.
7:44AM sitting here with my coffee. Gonna have breakfast soon. And then work a little bit on getting my stories moved over to the site. A long process. LOL Today is the book trip with Kathryn, how exciting. I am excited for Kathryn to see the book store. I know I go on and on about it. I hope it meets Kathryn's expectation now. LOL
Hub also told me that the Opera House which houses the UBS is for sale for $2.7 million. If I would win the lottery, I would buy the Opera House. LOL And then Recycled books could stay in there and they would not have to pay rent as long as I got free books for life. LOL Sounds like a plan. Anyway. Looking forward to our meet day today and I am sure we will both have a lot to post on here. LOL

10:48 AM. Good Thursday morning, GR! I am laughing because I got all caught up on my GR notifications, but forgot to check in on this thread as I had planned! I must have needed some coffee first! Anyways, little snuggle bug Gizmo has been taking over the bed at night. It's so cute when she wants to be next to me. Love that little love bear. It makes me happy when she is with me at night. I've been reading more in Different Seasons, and am close to finishing the first story. I have to stop reading for now because.........I have to get ready to go meet Janie!!!!!!! I'm so excited! I'm sure I will love the bookstore. I mean, how could I not? It's a bookstore! And it's new to me. :) We will have to remember to take a picture of us and post it in our group somewhere. Well, I need to go get ready. Hope everyone has a great Thursday!
Terri, I hope you see this: PR tonight!!!!!!!! Miss you! Hug Charlie puppy for me. Can you tell I love animals? :)
11:00AM I'm a walking Zombie today. I couldn't sleep last night and was up early to get to work. Tomorrow I have to be at work an hour earlier for a meeting. I really hope I can sleep tonight. I'm barely keeping my eyes open as it is. Cindy I really hope you are feeling better today, and I hope your friend is also. Sending happy thoughts your way.
Katy, good luck coming off your medications. I'm sure it is for the best but I bet that will be difficult.
Janie, and Kathryn I hope you guys have a blast at the book store today. I also hope you find some great books. Sounds like a great day. Can't wait to hear how it went.
Holly wrote: "1:30 p.m. Revision is becoming a very big pain in my butt. Glad this is my last exam!"Well good luck with your exam. I don't miss that part of school. I don't take tests well.
Thanks Chris. It's not going so well, but I'm pushing myself to get it done. Realistically I should be done already, but what can you do right?
Holly wrote: "Thanks Chris. It's not going so well, but I'm pushing myself to get it done. Realistically I should be done already, but what can you do right?"Well good luck, I have found that revision takes time and you can't rush it if you want a good grade out of it. I'm sure you will do fine.
4:51 p.m. EDT Well, gah, this is annoying. My doctor insists I go into a drug rehab to do this. I can see his point, I guess - he wants to make sure it's done right, but the problem is the intake coordinator will see me on Monday, but she is the one to set up the doctor appointment, and that won't be until October at the EARLIEST and the doctor won't give me any meds in the meantime. I think he misunderstood - he told me to go straight there and do a walk-in, but they don't DO walk-ins and... *sigh* I called back after I talked to them to confirm all this and left a message with his nurse explaining it was a misunderstanding, they can't give me meds without my having seen their doctor, and he is my ONLY OPTION for meds in the meantime. I really hope he'll reconsider, otherwise I'm going to have to do an emergency detox and I really don't have the time for that with my editing schedule. On the plus side, there is now a Planet Smoothie in the shopping center only a couple miles away and I had a lovely smoothie for lunch. Mmmm.My head hurts.
Janie and Kathryn, I hope you had a lot of fun today!
Katy I'm sorry your Dr visit didn't go as well as you had hoped. I am really hoping something can get worked out for you so things don't get to over the top horrible. I'm very glad you found a silver lining with the smoothie shop though. Might as well enjoy what you can of the day.
Hi everyone!! If any one has noticed my absence it is because my phone wasn't charging for some reason so it has been sitting on the charger since yesterday and is now fully charged. I hope I don't have any more problems with it. I have a lot of catching up to do!
Victor wrote: "Hi everyone!! If any one has noticed my absence it is because my phone wasn't charging for some reason so it has been sitting on the charger since yesterday and is now fully charged. I hope I don't..."That reminds me, whatever happened to your laptop? Were you able to save it from you liquid spill?
5:54 p.m. EDT Is it just because I was not on-line much for several days and became accustomed to being away from the computer, or am I receiving a LOT more e-mail than I did before Dragon*con? Hmmmm
Thanks Holly:)Chris- It works but some keys are broken and the computer is running really slow. It is time for a new one. I already started saving up.
5:30 PM. I've been home for about an hour, and my sweet husband was here when I got home!!! I met Janie at one, and it was kind of like meeting an old friend! The bookstore we went to is really neat. It has an upstairs, downstairs, plus the middle level. I actually found a copy of Swan Song by Robert McCammon, which is a book Mark has told me to read and I haven't found since I started looking a year ago. He used to have it, but doesn't know what happened to it. I also got The Sleeping Doll by Jeffery Deaver. They didn't have The Bone Collector, so I am going to order it off of Amazon, or see if it is down the street at the bookstore I frequent. Janie also bought The Sleeping Doll, so, I smell a buddy read! Actually, Janie's husband said that! After we looked around a bit and paid for our books, we walked down the street to a coffee house and I had a delicious blueberry smoothie. We talked for a bit there, and then it was time to go. She also gave me a hardback of The Passage. The whole experience was a lot of fun, and I hope to do it again sometime! Tonight I'm thinking of cooking tacos. I think I'm going to workout first, though. Funny story, Mark sent me a text around noon saying he was coming home a little early because, what I misunderstood, he was going on flex schedule. I thought he was saying he was going back on nights at the hospital again, but when I got home, he said he's not! Yay!!! Remember how that wore me out? LOL
Oh, we did take a picture at the end! I am unsure of how to upload pictures in the group, but maybe Janie does. If not, maybe I can get Mrs. Katy to help? ;)
Kathryn, to add a picture you need to have it uploaded on-line somewhere, be it in your profile here on Goodreads, or on Facebook, or a Tumblr account. Then you right-click on it and select "copy image URL" then do the HTML code to embed it into a post. It's like this: <*img src="paste in URL code"*>
(* = remove the asterisk and do not leave a space here)
Click the "preview" by "post" to make sure it worked, and voila! Hope that will work, will LOVE to see the pictures!
7:09 p.m. EDT I enjoyed that memoir so much, I think I'll read another I've had sitting around on my Kindle for awhile... wheee!
6:15PM Wow what a great adventure! I loved meeting up with Kathryn, and as she said it was indeed like getting together with an old friend. There were none of those 'awkward pauses' LOL We did a lot of book talk which I love so much. I think Kathryn got to see every part of the book store except for the top level where the classics are. Heck even I saw parts of the books store that I have not seen LOL. It was a blast. I really enjoyed myself. Hehe and yes Kathryn I may be contemplating a buddy read with the Deaver & you! Anyway y'all here is a picture!

Kathryn I just have to say Thank you again for such a great day, and for you taking the time to meet up. It means a lot. You are a great person and a wonderful friend! So thanks!
So after our awesome meeting, hub and I had to get the groceries bought. Got home and had pork chops and broccoli. YUM! And I was sitting here going through books. LOL I will post them after my work out. Then I will be enjoying my coffee and reading.

its 7:32 PM im sitting on my bed and waiting for my boyfriend to reply IF HE IS GOING TO PROM WITH ME!!!!
Lovely picture!Good luck, Heather! Isn't it a little early for Prom? I thought that was usually in spring?
7:35 p.m. EDT Need to clear out e-mail and start some reading!
Janie wrote: "6:15PM Wow what a great adventure! I loved meeting up with Kathryn, and as she said it was indeed like getting together with an old friend. 8:43pm ET. Long day and I am sleepy. If you call your doctor's office to complain about a health issue that has you scared/upset, and you are offered an appointment, please don't ask "Why? What do i need an appointment for?"Because you called saying you have a health issue/scare.
...gggrrr
Thanks, Katy Alondra and Holly! It was a great day. Alondra I am about to post what I got today. Good grief this is a huge addiction...lol
It's 924, I want to be watching football, but Gabrielle is dumping on us at the moment. That means no signal on my dish network, which means no football, which means pissed off Lee.
Janie wrote: "6:15PM Wow what a great adventure! I loved meeting up with Kathryn, and as she said it was indeed like getting together with an old friend. There were none of those 'awkward pauses' LOL We did a lo..."glad you guys had a fun day at the bookstore-great pic!
10:17 PM. Debating on a late night cup of coffee. I'm about to start reading for the night. I ended up having a really great workout, and when I came back inside, Mark had already started making the tacos! So sweet. I got a quick shower, finished dinner, and we watched Project Runway. I've been sitting here catching up on notifications, and debating on coffee. Haha! Thank you all so much for the sweet comments on our picture! We definitely have a great group of friends in this group! :)
Kathryn and Janie--great photo! A couple of "Bookworm Babes!"
Kathryn, I'm addicted to Project Runway. (It's one of the few things I watch on TV other than cooking shows.) Time Gunn is my hero. I like the fact that he's more involved this season and that the critics actually see the garments on camera so they can critique them more thoroughly. Kate is my favorite designer so far. Did you see the part where Sandro lost it and walked out throwing things and cursing, even pushing the camera away? Such immaturity! I think it's a good thing he's gone and I think the show handled it pretty discreetly.
Katy, are you feeling better? How's the morphine taper going? I just don't understand what these doctors expect you to do when you have chronic pain. They more or less withhold the med and tell you to buckle up. It's infuriating. It's like saying to a diabetic, well you've been on insulin for pretty long so I guess we better taper you off. Were you able to make it to your lunch?
Chris, how are things going, man? Hope work isn't too bad and you're getting some quality family time.
Cindy, hope you're feeling a whole lot better!
11:56pm EDT. Don't think I can sleep because of ongoing leg pain. I see the ortho doc again on Mon. Struggling to find something good to read but it will probably have to wait till my library haul tommorow. The house is quiet and peaceful, and Charlie is cuddled up next to me. His mere presence is so soothing to me. Kathryn, I guess you feel the same way with your kitties. Well, I'm just going to mess around on the Internet for a while (no, no porn thank you very much). Good night all my GR friends!
