What time is it and what are you doing?

Katy, your tattoo looks great!!! Did you design it yourself? I bet you were beat after all of that. I keep thinking I would like one, but the cost and the fact I am a bit of a wuss when it comes to needles keeps me from doing it.
Terri, it is great to see you posting again.

The basis of the one on my ankle was provided by my soul sister, but I've built a lot around it. I'm bad with needles, too, but this is different somehow. But yes, they ARE expensive. I had to save a good while for this one.
2:15PM Had to quit reading to stop and clean my house. LOL EW! Heh. Having a family thing tonight, gonna cook out, swim and have some wine YUM! Will be Cort, Amy, & Aeverie, our niece Shelby is also going to come not sure if Randy's Sister is gonna show or not, which is Shelby's nana. But it should be a fun time.
Chris hope your day goes well!
Chris hope your day goes well!

Katy, your new tattoo--and the old ones--look awesome! I could never get one because of the needles (plus I'm too old).
Chris, enjoy your day off--you deserve it!
Janie, hope you had some great family time.
3:39am EDT. Can't sleep, leg hurts, meds aren't working, but at least I have a good book to distract me. Taking a break now to check out GR. Hub and I both got haircuts today. That always feels good. Spent the afternoon watching baseball and had a simple dinner of club sandwiches and fresh corn on the cob. Hub has also been working all afternoon to figure out a song on his guitar. I enjoy it when he plays. It takes me back to the days when we were dating and the early days of our marriage when he was a professional musician. Personally, I could listen forever to a song and I would never be able to figure out how to play the music! I can't sing either, simply cannot carry a tune. Larry was very tolerant though when the kids were little and I sang to them all the time. Thinking about stuff like that makes me long for grandchildren. Some day...
Back to reading. Have a great Sunday all you GR people!

4:12 a.m. EDT Going to start another book, but probably go to sleep soonish. I think we'll be hitting the pub in the afternoon for a pint or two, as it's hubby's day off. Hope you all have a great day!

It's 9:16 a.m now, I'm just chilling sitting here on the couch checking up with groups, mostly being bored :)
Hey, I'm in my 50's and wouldn't hesitate for a minute to get another tattoo if I feel the urge to do so. Got up early this morning in an attempt to actually get some reading done. Sitting at the table on GR's and reading in peace for once. It's really quiet around here in the mornings. Otherwise, not so much. Hope everyone has a great day!

OMG! I hope you have some kind of stash. I feel for ya. Did they give you anything at all? Something to help hold you over to you find another doctor or something? I would literally die if that happened to me.

It is ironic that David Beckham who did more than any one to make tattoo's fashionable is more of an icon for his skin than for his football skills, the main trouble I find with Tattoo's is that people never think before hand of what they are going to have done, so it just ends up looking awful.
And don't get me started on the discrete lady tattoo flower, little bird etc I just think it looks cheap, I have a real bad vibe about tattoo's on women, which is kinda weird as I am a really non-judgemental guy!
Sorry Katy :( - I've experienced my fair share of pain and it's no fun.

9:26PM Had a nice time last night. We kept Aeverie, so now he is not wanting to let me do anything here, or read. :/ that is to be expected now, because rarely does he let me read. He always wants to play games on the puter. Oh well.
10:37 a.m. and I just finished one project. Yay!!! Now, I plan to take a break for about 10-15 minutes and get some more reading done. Maybe I can actually start reading Showdown today after I get a bit further with Flowers in the Attic. I'm hyped up now!!

Yeah, Dmitry was like "Well, at least that will save you some money" but I had to remind him that I'm not at all looking forward to the levels of pain I used to endure before I started having treatment, and I'm especially worried about how badly these broken teeth are going to hurt without the morphine cushion... :-(
Sean wrote: "IMOP The only tattoo's worth a damn are Tribal Tat's BUT you should only be allowed to wear your own tribe's tattoo's hence I could wear Celtic symbols. I have know hundreds of people with tattoo's..."
Well, now Sean, that's sort of a blanket statement. Other than my first tattoo, which was just to have my first one done, all of mine have deeply personal meanings, and I've put a lot of thought into them. Most people who are serious about body art do the same thing. If a person doesn't want them, that's fine, but it seems a bit harsh to pass judgment on people who choose do to this.
Chuck wrote: "OMG! I hope you have some kind of stash. I feel for ya. Did they give you anything at all? Something to help hold you over to you find another doctor or something? I would literally die if that happened to me."
Actually, no. They are supposed to provide 30 days of meds, but she wrote the letter later the same day I was in. However, I didn't receive it for over a week, so I'll have just a bit over two weeks to find another option. However, I've spoken in the past to my primary care physician, and I think he'll be willing to work with me for a few months to go off them. I'm calling on Monday to go in to see him ASAP so make certain of that. I don't want to start the weaning off process until after Dragon*con, and I'm hoping he'll feel it's safe to provide me the meds for a few months. He said he couldn't do so consistently and long-term, but it sounded to me like he'd be willing to provide them short-term. If not... I'm well and TRULY screwed, 'cause there is no way in hell I'm EVER going to trust a so-called "pain-management" clinic again. I've learned of an herb called kramot that has anecdotal evidence of helping with pain, so I'm going to try that once I'm off the narcotics and see if it helps. If not... I might have to do some law-breaking.
1:24 p.m. EDT Planning to wake Dmitry up soon to go down to the pub. I saw the time wrong and initially tried to wake him before noon, which is no good! *laugh* So, I'll start again about 2. Meanwhile I'll finish up my e-mail and then do some reading. Hope today finds everyone else well.

Good luck, Katy. I hope everything works out for you.

6:20PM Just about ready to take a dip in the pool. Had a great workout and now ready to read a bit more. Enjoying Showdown, want to get a bit further in Four Past Midnight as well. I will get there.
Cindy so glad to hear your day is going well.
Cindy so glad to hear your day is going well.

12:01AM Yep still here, had a pretty good day although Amy did not get here when planned LOL. That is ok though. Went swimming and then worked some more on the Vlogs for my family. I sure hope they are enjoying them. Read a bit more (when Aeverie allows) in Four Past Midnight and Showdown. Also trying to read bits of The Stand. Now I have Forever Odd to start. I am so glad I have the opportunity to read. I would be lost without books.

8:49 a.m. EDT Had a couple beers at the pub and they knocked me on my butt. Slept for 15 hours this time... Need to work my tolerance back up! First editing project this week is fairly short, so I'll probably start next week's once I'm done with it. Next week's is a work-in I picked up a few weeks ago, from a lawyer of all the crazy things. Pretty cool. I doubt he'll mind, but I've dropped him a line asking anyway. So I'll know for certain later on. Meantime, just clearing out all the e-mail that came in since yesterday afternoon! Hahah. Wheee.

Just watched CHANGING LANES starring Samuel L Jackson and Ben Affleck, quite enjoyed it.
Yes my life does evolve around reading books, watching movies and playing games, GREAT!

8:49 a.m. EDT ..."
I wasn't having a personal dig about tattoo's I just don't like or understand them! Ironically I had a biker pal who sadly died aged 35, who won European Tattooist of the year in 199?.

10:20 a.m. EDT Almost done with e-mail then I can start my editing. Gheesh... lots of e-mail, but that's what happens when I don't log on for almost a day...

From May 18th, 1979 when I went my first Rock Gig to January 1st 2000 I was heavily involved with The Music/Drug scene BUT I still think that Books are BEST.
10:11AM Doing laundry today yay! NOT! lol Aeverie is here and I just had to make a compromise with him. I told him to just let me read the last 40 remaining pages in Secret Garden, and then I will hold him and we can play games. He was content with that.

Vicki, that is always fun. I really need to do that myself. I haven't gone through my books since before I joined GR. Have fun going through all of that stuff. I love to organize. I'm a bit OCD about that kind of stuff.
4:59 p.m. and I'm getting ready to READ! Yay!!

Well that's it then, NOTHING ON THE NEWS for the next month, apart from the BIRTH!. God we need a REVOLUTION over here!!!!!
4:31PM Just had dinner. Gonna be working out here in a few and then head for the pool I think. I am so glad we got our heat back. Just would not be the same without our 103 degrees. LOL Finally finished Secret Window, Secret Garden in Four Past Midnight. Now back at Showdown.
11:50PM Been reading more of Showdown. I need to get going on Forever Odd and also read some more in The Stand. Never seems to be enough time to read as much as I want. Everyone asleep right now so I am up for maybe a couple more hours and will be reading Showdown. Take advantage of the quiet time.

Katy, just read about your situation with the pain meds. How awful!! Sometimes it's so difficult to get other people (especially health care "professionals") to appreciate what it's like to live with chronic pain. Hope you can get some help with your primary care MD.
9:17am EDT. Was up most of the night reading and trying to get my "puppy" (he's about 3/4 the size of a full-grown collie) from jumping on the bed trying to get me to play and/or cuddle. I finished 2 great books and have started a new one, so now I have 3 going. Ready to get a major haul from the library, probably tomorrow. It's already 78 degrees with 90% humidity. Glad I will be indoors all day. I've already finished the laundry and kitchen prep for dinner, so I have pretty much the rest of they day to read and nap. Hope all my GR friends have a great day!

10:23AM Aeverie is watching the original Cinderella. He likes it. He just finished Lady & the Tramp 2, Scamp's adventure. One of his all time faves. So now I am here, after finishing email to check in on all my GR friends. I am hoping to get more read in Showdown and maybe get started on Forever Odd.

Thanks, Terri. My PCP gave me another month's supply of the meds, and it sounds like he will be willing to help me wean off the meds. He said my timeframe was unrealistic, though, and that at the level I've been taking it'll probably take at least a year to wean off them. He has requested the last few months' records from the pain doctor and I'll try to go in to see him again before Dragon*Con to see what he says. He's a very kind doctor, and while it's sometimes a long wait to see him (since he'll sit with you as long as you want to ramble at him), I think he's really worth it.
1:44 p.m. EDT Went and grabbed some KFC after seeing the doctor. It's almost time to wake Dmitry and I'll be doing more work on this manuscript. Tomorrow night is a birthday party for one of my cousin's oldest friend's partner, so that should be fun. I am also "doing lunch" on Monday with another of her friends, so hopefully I'll start to expand my social network and start going out and spending more time with people. I think having a stronger local social network will be a good thing, as I'm often here alone and have no recourse in an emergency. Plus I just miss having people to go hang out and be goofy with. Dmitry is always working, and thank goodness he has a job since I can't. Since we just have the one car it's a bit tricky to meet up with people, since it has to be morning or middle of the night, but *shrug* I can work it out, I'm sure.
Jordan, sounds like a great day. How old are the year 6s? When I was 6th grade I was 11, and I adored my teacher that year. He was just out of college, we were his first class, and we were OBNOXIOUS little twerps, but we had a great time. He passed away a bit over a year ago. Cancer. Damn cancer... I just lost it when I learned about it. So sad.

Couldn't show while the needle was going, as you can't really see anything then, with the needle in the way. Artist had some great work, too. Must be nice to work in a shop!
12:44 p.m. EDT I crashed HARD once the adrenaline wore off. I was up for an hour in the night reading, but other than that, I slept the better part of 18 hours... O.o It happens. I'm so happy to have new ink. I'm going to make a concerted effort to do this more often... Back to reading today, after taking another look at one section in Nick's book.
