There is nothing weird about loving the smell of books. When I worked at a Barnes and Noble I loved walking through those doors every day and smelling all the books. I love hardbacks because of that book smell and the sound it makes when you open one for the first time.

Oh, meeee too! What a great place to work. The one by us has a Starbucks in it. Books and coffee smells. Love it.
So did ours and I loved that job. I had to leave because we moved and the drive was going to be terrible daily and I needed a job that made me more money. I do miss it and if I ever become well off (ha ha ha) I will go back to work there part time if just for the discount. :-)
Two thumbs up! My youngest is graduating next year so maybe ours could use a BookBuddies member. Hehe
Chris, we bought the B&N year membership for %40 off any new release a couple months ago. It paid off when hubby bought me Doctor Sleep. Anyone can buy me books for birthday or Christmas and I am completely happy. I will never get bored with gifts like that!

I loooove getting books given to me... or even better... vouchers to buy books!!Every year for Christmas, since he was little, Toby's parents have always put a present under the tree for him that is always a book from 'Santa' they still do this now he's in his 30's lol.

Wow, what a great tradition to start! Thanks Michelle, it adds a new layer of gifts to add..,, while my boys are entering into adulthood. Now what to pick?? Eeeek! I'm sure it will click during our times together......hope I'm the cool Mom;/. :)
Hehe. I will get them certificates. They will probably use them for coffee...but they may meet a nice girl that likes to read. Lol. I can dream....
Hahaha, Susan!!!!! My dad wanted a son-in-law who knew how to fish, build stuff, work on cars. He got what he wanted. I wanted a husband who read with me....I didn't get that, but I will definitely take what I got!!! He is a keeper! At least he lets me read AND buys me books. :)
Yea Susan it is a good deal I think we spent $25 for the year. So not bad for the savings you receive.
Hehe Kathryn, Randy did not read at all till we got together. He was a late start though. And he reads more and more. I really gave him the reading bug. I guess he figured if he can't fight me he can join me. LOL But he has always bought me books with no complaints. Now we just share a love for it. It's awesome!

Kathryn, all my hubby reads is the news...well at least one of us reads it. Hehe. Keepers are hard to find. Glad you guys are getting some time together this weekend. Janie, thanks. Now I can't wait to go to B&N. Two birds, membership and Christmas presents. Have lots of fun with Ave's tonight, :) I miss trick or treating with the kids.
Aww thanks Susan! Aeverie is really worked up for trick or treating tonight so I know he will have a ton of fun!
I HAVE BOUGHT AND THE MOUNTAIN ROARED, LIFE AFTER LIFE, THE SON AND WE ARE WATER. THOSE SHOULD LAST ME SPRING(HOPE SO).
Holly wrote: "That is a great sound Chris!"Sorry, Holly... The Universe, not the world. Hehe. Still love it!
so went to the UBS today and got 1st to die, and The 5th Horseman from James Patterson series. Also got Taking Eve, Without Mercy, The Eyes of Darkness, Lethal, Blood Sins, Magic, and The Secret Life of Bees. Sorry I did not link them guys, I am just tired tonight.
Hi again. :Djust wanted to share my new books, just in last night:
1- 11/22/63 by stephen king
2- Catcher in the rye by J.D Salinger
Now I don't know which one to start first. :P
I'm generally a library gal, but I bought Twelve Years a Slave for the Kindle. It was only $.99 on Amazon (and the library waiting list is CRAZY since the movie is coming out).
I had the itch to go to a Half-Price Books store I don't normally go to. I purchased a few things. They had some DVDs on clearance, so I looked through them and happened to find "Misery" for $2.00. It's a King book which became a movie. As for books, I found "The Cold Moon (Lincoln Rhyme, #7)" by Jeffery Deaver in hardback for $4.00, and "Hell's Kitchen" by Jeffery Deaver in paperback for $3.50. It's not part of a series, which is nice. So, that was my bookstore adventure! :)
Okay, well, I'm a dork. "Hell's Kitchen" is book three in another Deaver series. It doesn't say that on the book, and it didn't say it on the back. CRAP!
LOL Kathryn! I hate when that happens! I'm always sure when I get the books saying "Oh wait this is a stand alone book, no series, YAY!" Come back and check GR and then it turns into "oops, I was wrong!" LOL
Haha, well, I did look the book over to make sure, but it doesn't say anything about it. When I got home to put it on my GR TBR list, I was surprised to see it was third in a series. Maybe Chris can tell me if that series can be read out of order. I hope so because the book sounds interesting!
Ok well John Pellam appears to be a Hollywood scout/investigator wannabe. Who does stories for documentaries? Kind of an interesting take on a story. You are right though, it does sound interesting. So Shallow Graves is the first one, and the Bloody River Blues. It would appear there are only 3 to that one so far Kathryn. I also see there is a "runes" series. Wow so many to look for! LOL
Thanks for looking that up, Janie! I saw Bloody River Blues, but I don't remember seeing Shallow Graves. I'm just so, so, so, sooooo glad you and Chris got me reading Jeffery Deaver. For a long time now, I've wanted to find another author who has several books, but also, as I told you before, I've also wanted to try out the mystery/thriller genre. I think Deaver was the perfect place to start! :)
In the mail today, I got1)Thunder Rising (Warriors: Dawn of the Clans #2)
&
2) Warriors: The Ultimate Guide
Not high literature, but I'm addicted to these Warriors novels. I've read 30+ Warriors books and several others by the same author. :)
I am just glad you are enjoying him Kathryn! Chris is actually the one that turned me onto Deaver. LOL So far it has been a pretty decent experience for me. As soon as I finish up Part 3 in The Twelve, I am back to The Sleeping Doll. Both are great reads, and so is Ashes to Ashes by Tami Hoag. This genre along with horror are my faves.
I've bought many books recently:The Kite Runner - Khaled Hosseini
Watership Down - Richard Adams
The Great Gatsby - Scott L. Fitzgerald
The Little Coffee Shop of Kabul - Deborah Rodriguez
The Rose Petal Beach - Dorothy Koomson
The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo - Steig Larsson
The Univers Versus Alex Woods - Gavin Extence
I had a spare bit of money, so I bought all the books in paperback for around £30 :)
I actually got some books myself today. I noticed that Dollar General gets a lot of 'life story' books which I enjoy from time to time. And today they had 4 for me. LOL Relatively good prices too. I got then all for $3 each. All for One, The Mailbox, Reinventing Rachel: A Novel, & If You Lived Here, You'd Be Home Now. All of them sound pretty good.

I LOOOOOOOOVE The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo trilogy!!!! I hope you enjoy the first book!
Yay! Love those. I have not read The Princess Bride. Crazy I know, but one of our yearly Christmas movies. Sooo funny. I'm afraid to read the book and ruin the movie. I can't imagine even writing that. Lol. Kind of like reading Monte Python and The Holy Grail. Lol Hope you are totally over your teeth surgery and have a great week! :D
I haven't watched the movie for years but I recently read a book that had lots of quotes from The Princess Bride novel and I loved them so much I decided I need to read it. Thank you, my mouth has healed really well, my left jaw joint has been a bit sore, I guess from how hard they had to pull to get the teeth out lol. I had a great weekend thanks, hope you do too :)
Michelle wrote: "My copies of Rebecca, The Princess Bride and The Eyes of the Dragon arrived :)"can't wait to hear what you think of The Princess Bride- I can't decide whether or not to read it-I loved the movie.
read the king book many years ago and really liked it-enjoy your books!
glad you're feeling better :)
I'm so glad it went as well as it did. Scary stuff, that makes you feel like crap. I remember sore jaw pain even now. 1000 years later. The good part is when it starts to itch on your jaw on the outside (your face). It's done healing in a day or so, at least for me. Take care and keep your face bundled from the cold. Sorry, that's the Mom coming out. Sigh....lol

Thank you! I shall look forward to reading it!!! :-)
For $10 I got a whole heap of baby clothes for my nephew and these books:Me & Emma, The 19th Wife, The Spare Room, Before I Die, August, In Safe Hands, Cane River, This Is How and How the Light Gets In.
I don't know anything about any of these books so I'd be interested to hear from anyone who has read them :)
I have not heard of any of them myself Michelle. But sometimes those are the best kinds!
Nice book Squire!
Nice book Squire!
Ok someone should really stop me. Nah! Last week I got 4 new books from Dollar General of all places, which I posted. So today, yes, we visited my favorite place in the whole world, our local UBS. I actually took in some books that I no longer wanted and got a credit for those. So I got 4 off the sales rack which were Catch Me, You've Been Warned, Alex Cross's Trial, & The House on Durrow Street, which I am looking forward to that series. I just need book 1 and 3 for that. I also got (not on the sales rack) The box set of His Dark Materials. I have heard so much about this series that I finally broke down and bought the set. I am looking forward to reading this series.

I plan on at least being there for the discussion. I won't have DR Sleep done by then but I do want to re-read all those books. I will be with you guys the whole way and really looking forward to it if I read them again or not.
