Please try not to be intimated with them, Janie. I know they're massive tomes, but the story flows pretty smoothly. You'll be flipping pages before you know it, and dying to start the next book. At least, that was my experience.

I am a little scared by this attempt of reading them since it is fantasy and I am NOT a fantasy buff at all."I'm not a big fantasy reader either Janie, but I'm loving them! The fantastical elements to the story aren't overwhelming - political ambition, love, and betrayal take a front seat to the supernatural stuff. They're also very very dark - much darker than I thought they'd be.

I'm glad you brought up all the elements, particularly the political intrigue. It's fascinating, really!
Holly wrote: "I can't wait for my trip to Barnes and Noble!!!!! I'ñ going to go sooo crazy!!!! Lol"You didn't end up going there yesterday, Holly?
Oh no, yesterday was just car buying day. We're going to Joliet on Monday for glasses, so we're making a day of it, which includes the Barnes and Noble trip. :-)

Lol, yes it certainly would. That's why it's been split up. I'm very much looking forward to our family day in our new car!

Congrats guys - I'm jealous!A couple of books that I ordered just arrived in the mail... Magyk and The Dark Half.
Thanks Janie!Awesome car. Ours isn't new new either; we got a 2005 Chevy Malibu. Thanks; I'm really looking forward to it. I haven't been to one in a long time. Oh, I love them too!
Janie wrote: "Oh nice selection Rachel! :) Will you be reading Heartsick with us?"Ooo are you guys doing a buddy read for this one? I have it on my 2013 reading challenge list :)
Janie wrote: "I hope so Holly. I see them sitting here and feel overwhelmed yet excited. So we will see! Thanks for the invite for the buddy read! I probably would not have attempted them otherwise."When are you guys planning on reading this one? This is also on my challenge list!
Janie wrote: "Michelle which one were you referring to? LOL Heartsick or the ASOIAF read?"I'm a bit confused, too. I thought you two were referring to doing a Dark Half buddy read, which I hadn't heard about..?
So nothing new for myself, but I did just buy Beautiful Chaoson Kindle for my wife. She loves this series, and today they are all on sale for 2.99$ on amazon today only. Just in case anyone else is interested in reading the Beautiful Creatures series and has a Kindle, today would be the day to buy
I'm sure she will. She loves this series and I like to spoil her when I can. I'm pretty set on books for now, until King, and Deaver's next novels.Update: just got an email from BookBub.com and got Trapped for my kindle for free on amazon. Guessing this is a today only so anyone interested go get it.
Janie wrote: "I first was talking about Heartsick, then we got switched to the ASOIAF. LOL So I dont know."Oh, all right. Thank you, Janie.:)
I just got The Turtle Boy by Keelan Patrick Burke for my Kindle app for free! Yay. Looking forward to that one. I also got Trapped by Jack Killborn for free as well. I love Amazon!

Well from what I read he is an up and coming Author. I think he will get pretty popular as time goes on. I know I loved Kin and I look forward to many more of his books.
Chuck wrote: "I guess it's all relative."I agree, it is all relative. In my eyes, being the recipient of the Bram Stoker award is successful, and very impressive.

That's impressive all right, but that's not what I mean.
