A friend of mine wants to remove a book he published under his real name and republish it under a different alias to protect his reputation. (he normally writes teen humor romance, but has dabbled in Crime, murder and MA stuff)He is afraid the church may look down on the non teen books, despite them all being religious, some of the content may not be church friendly. Is it possible to change authors after the book has been listed?

he would need to change the author name on the book then change it on goodreads?

Will changes to the author affect the reviews and ratings?

Well, he would want to change the name on the actual book as a starting point. When the new edition with his new pen name hits the shops it could be added to Goodreads under the author new name.
As I said above a book is listed on Goodreads under the name it was published under so the existing editions would still have the old name.
If your friend has serious worries about this then his best bet is to contact Goodreads directly using:

The staff are the only people who can authorize such changes. Authors and librarians would get into deep trouble if they or we tried it.

It would be a new book with no reviews or ratings. The old book has 3 ratings and 2 reviews which would stay with the old book.
