My what to serve at a winter cocktail party crisis has been solved. Bless you, Sally. (rushes to store for butter and cream cheese.)
Right now I'm getting ready to head south for the week. Icy drive? I hope that the roads are well coated in whatever chemical makes ice not form.
I'm back from walking around the lake, and feeling like I'm finally not sick anymore. Hurray! But now, I have to vacuum. Boo!
Yay for not being sick, Jackie!I'm reading TC and a perfume message board and eating Brach's Christmas nougats.
I have one of those indoor/outdoor homes, yes, technically I am "indoors." I need to put on some socks and a sweater.
Also I think I must have caught a cold from someone on the plane. Mild, but I need to go get some chicken soup.

Indoor/outdoor home? Do you have an enclosed porch? Not sure I understand....but chicken soup sounds like an excellent idea. Feel better!

Thanks. Dumb joke. I live indoors but it's so drafty it sometimes feels like outdoors.

I just finished up cleaning up the kitchen after dinner, then went to the library site to request the Twain autobiography. I'm number 64 on the list. Why didn't I think of this sooner?
HEY!! Retiree discrimination!!! And, by the way, the personal friends of the librarians here get first pick of the new books. I could play that card, but I'm too noble:)
Lobstergirl wrote: "I'm pretty sure I just heard someone on the Newshour say, "Oh, suck it!""Was it Paul Solmon demonstrating the economic situation with a drinking straw and a jar of molasses?
I didn't see the visual (in another room) but it sounded like a reporter was reporting on his own child, who was playing a video game. Hey, Newshour is adopting the money-saving practices of the Times! (Find your closest three friends in Brooklyn, interview them and their two friends.)
Sounds like a legitimate trend story to me--anything five people in Brooklyn think must be worth knowing...

Freaking myself out.I've had a headache since sunday (it's a dull, throbbing pain. it feels like there's a lot of pressure in my head), and I finally have an appointment with my doctor tomorrow morning. I think it's my blood pressure, but whatever it is, I just want it gone. I'm so worried because I have to go back to school on Saturday!
Contemplating a trek over to the post office. I have to get my passport renewed, but it's snowing out, and I haven't warmed up yet since being out with the dog this morning.
You're right, Larry! I thought it would be faster in person, but the passport office's website says the online renewal takes only two weeks if you pay for the expedited option. And I'm not going anywhere until March.
Larry wrote: "Can't you do that online?"This is a standard response I provide for just about any situation.
I'm getting ready to go pick up my younger daughter (age 19) for the weekend. She just spend a couple of days in Lincoln, Nebraska for her boyfriend's grandpa's funeral. She's is really growing up.
I'm drying out after walking over to the coffee stand in the rain and wind. Was it worth it, for my double-shot nonfat latte with almond? Heck yeah!
Never, Jim. I take the quest for coffee VERY SERIOUSLY. It's part of our code of conduct, here in the Pacific Northwest.
I drink both, Sally. I prefer tea, I drink tea constantly, and like it with or without adulteration. But sometimes, you have to bring out the big guns. I've been getting over a weird bug, I didn't get enough sleep last night, it's raining, AND it's Friday and there are doughnuts in the staff room. Doughnuts that call out for coffee to go with them.
But to drink coffee, I have to have all kinds of stuff with it. It's a mocha, or a latte with almond, or a cappuccino with sugar. Because I don't love it the way I love tea.
Okay, I'll be quiet now... :)
