Right now I'm getting ready to head south for the week. Icy drive? I hope that the roads are well coated in whatever chemical makes ice not form.

Drinking oj to ward off evil.

Jackie "the Librarian" | 8991 comments I'm back from walking around the lake, and feeling like I'm finally not sick anymore. Hurray!
But now, I have to vacuum. Boo!

message 4858: by Félix (new)

Félix (habitseven) Yay! Boo!

Phil | 11852 comments Greenlake?

message 4860: by Jammies (new)

Jammies Yay for not being sick, Jackie!

I'm reading TC and a perfume message board and eating Brach's Christmas nougats.

message 4861: by Phil (new)

Phil | 11852 comments Don't let Brach see you -- he'll be upset.

message 4862: by Jammies (new)

Jammies It's okay, Phil, he sold them to me. :)

I have one of those indoor/outdoor homes, yes, technically I am "indoors." I need to put on some socks and a sweater.

Also I think I must have caught a cold from someone on the plane. Mild, but I need to go get some chicken soup.

message 4866: by Jonathan (new)

Jonathan Lopez | 4726 comments Indoor/outdoor home? Do you have an enclosed porch? Not sure I understand.

...but chicken soup sounds like an excellent idea. Feel better!

"Working," yes.

Jackie "the Librarian" | 8991 comments Phil wrote: "Greenlake?"

Capital Lake in Olympia, Phil. I do love walking around Greenlake, though.

Thanks. Dumb joke. I live indoors but it's so drafty it sometimes feels like outdoors.

message 4870: by Félix (new)

Félix (habitseven) I just finished up cleaning up the kitchen after dinner, then went to the library site to request the Twain autobiography. I'm number 64 on the list. Why didn't I think of this sooner?

message 4871: by Brittomart (new)

Brittomart Because the millenials got to it first

As well as the retirees.

message 4873: by Félix (new)

Félix (habitseven) heh heh yup.

Scout (goodreadscomscout) | 3598 comments HEY!! Retiree discrimination!!! And, by the way, the personal friends of the librarians here get first pick of the new books. I could play that card, but I'm too noble:)

message 4875: by Félix (new)

Félix (habitseven) Noble is as noble does.

I'm pretty sure I just heard someone on the Newshour say, "Oh, suck it!"

Was it Paul Solmon demonstrating the economic situation with a drinking straw and a jar of molasses?

I didn't see the visual (in another room) but it sounded like a reporter was reporting on his own child, who was playing a video game. Hey, Newshour is adopting the money-saving practices of the Times! (Find your closest three friends in Brooklyn, interview them and their two friends.)

message 4880: by Jonathan (new)

Jonathan Lopez | 4726 comments Sounds like a legitimate trend story to me--anything five people in Brooklyn think must be worth knowing...

What in the world is an indoor/outdoor home?

message 4882: by Félix (new)

Félix (habitseven) One with old, drafty windows.

message 4883: by Jim (new)

Jim | 6484 comments Sally wrote: "What in the world is an indoor/outdoor home?"

It's reversible silly, once one gets too dirty, you just turn it inside out and live in the other for awhile.

message 4884: by Brittomart (new)

Brittomart Freaking myself out.

I've had a headache since sunday (it's a dull, throbbing pain. it feels like there's a lot of pressure in my head), and I finally have an appointment with my doctor tomorrow morning. I think it's my blood pressure, but whatever it is, I just want it gone. I'm so worried because I have to go back to school on Saturday!

message 4885: by Scout (new)

Scout (goodreadscomscout) | 3598 comments What fresh hell is this? School on Saturday?

message 4886: by Jonathan (new)

Jonathan Lopez | 4726 comments Contemplating a trek over to the post office. I have to get my passport renewed, but it's snowing out, and I haven't warmed up yet since being out with the dog this morning.

message 4887: by Félix (new)

Félix (habitseven) Can't you do that online?

message 4888: by Jonathan (new)

Jonathan Lopez | 4726 comments You're right, Larry! I thought it would be faster in person, but the passport office's website says the online renewal takes only two weeks if you pay for the expedited option. And I'm not going anywhere until March.

message 4894: by Cynthia (new)

Cynthia Paschen | 7333 comments I'm getting ready to go pick up my younger daughter (age 19) for the weekend. She just spend a couple of days in Lincoln, Nebraska for her boyfriend's grandpa's funeral. She's is really growing up.

Jackie "the Librarian" | 8991 comments I'm drying out after walking over to the coffee stand in the rain and wind. Was it worth it, for my double-shot nonfat latte with almond? Heck yeah!

message 4896: by Jim (new)

Jim | 6484 comments Atta girl Jackie, don't let the wind and rain hold ya back!

Jackie "the Librarian" | 8991 comments Never, Jim. I take the quest for coffee VERY SERIOUSLY.
It's part of our code of conduct, here in the Pacific Northwest.

message 4898: by Jim (new)

Jim | 6484 comments There is the quest for coffee!

message 4899: by Sally, la reina (new)

Sally (mrsnolte) | 17373 comments Mod
I thought Jackie didn't drink coffee, just tea? *rubs head*

Jackie "the Librarian" | 8991 comments I drink both, Sally. I prefer tea, I drink tea constantly, and like it with or without adulteration.

But sometimes, you have to bring out the big guns. I've been getting over a weird bug, I didn't get enough sleep last night, it's raining, AND it's Friday and there are doughnuts in the staff room. Doughnuts that call out for coffee to go with them.

But to drink coffee, I have to have all kinds of stuff with it. It's a mocha, or a latte with almond, or a cappuccino with sugar. Because I don't love it the way I love tea.

Okay, I'll be quiet now... :)
