Sarah | 13814 comments I heard on the radio that he was in Kokomo and the first thing I thought was "Oh! That's where Kevin lives!"

message 4653: by Michele (new)

Michele bookloverforever (lovebooks14) | 1970 comments right now I am on the laptop keeping my brother in law company while he watches Dr.Phil and the show is about bullies and violent children. that is depressing. Violence seems to be an epidemic in the US. I don't remember this kind of thing growing up although I do remember Danny H. pushing me into a snow pile when I was 10. And Billy H. stealing my favorite hat (my dad's sailor hat from wwII) from my head when I was 5 and throwing into a storm drain. Nothing compared to today. I wonder why?

Right now I'm just waiting for today to end. It has been going on forever. It is my last day of student teaching and I have nothing left to do here, and honestly I'm just waiting for the bell to ring so I can get out of here finally. We have seventh hour plan period, which has been great all semester, but today is sheer torture.

End, day, end!

message 4655: by Sarah (new)

Sarah | 13814 comments Psst...isn't all teaching student teaching? I mean, except when you're teacher-teaching, but that's usually called an in-service.

I had a handwarming muff when I was little. It was white fur. It had a matching "scarf" which was a furry white tube with a mink's head on the end. The mink's mouth would grab the other end of the tube, thus keeping it around one's neck. It was so cute!

Then at a job once I was telling this guy about the muff I'd had and he freaked out.

My mother and dad had a December wedding. All her bridesmaids wore red velvet empire waist dresses with white fur collars and a satin ribbon and the high waist. And all the girls in the wedding party had white fur muffs, to boot.

Heidi (heidihooo) | 10825 comments It was totally cute!

(And that last sentence is a joke waiting to happen.)

Why boot a perfectly good muff?

Not waiting anymore, Phil put it out of its misery.

Afiq Asyran (afiqasyran) | 4 comments Nothing much, reading Atul Gawande's book; Better. A surgeon notes on performance while listening to orchestral music. classy!

Kevin (ksprink) | 11469 comments right now i am finally resting in my chair. it is 3:32pm and i just got home a bit ago. got up and left at 7 to go pheasant hunting with some friends. nothing like a day outside in 17 degree sunny weather hiking around the countryside to work off the thanksgiving feed. got home, cleaned two birds for later cooking, put everything away, warm bath, some berry-lemonaid and now in chair...

Phoenix (phoenixapb) | 1619 comments Right now I'm battling a migrain and trying to catch up on all the stuff I missed on TC while I was busy the last week or so.

message 4671: by Félix (new)

Félix (habitseven) Sorry about the migraine, Alecia.

message 4672: by janine (new)

janine | 7709 comments right now i'm making hutspot. i got a little carried away with the peeling and chopping and ended up with way too much stuff to fit in one pan so i had to divide it over two.

message 4673: by Jonathan (new)

Jonathan Lopez | 4726 comments Well, if there's going to be extra, I'm available for supper...

message 4674: by janine (new)

janine | 7709 comments yes, there is extra.

message 4675: by Jonathan (new)

Jonathan Lopez | 4726 comments The plane to Schiphol is no problem, but the train ride to Groningen takes forever. I may be a bit late arriving.

message 4676: by janine (new)

janine | 7709 comments it might be gone by then (already working on it).

message 4677: by Jonathan (new)

We have three pecks of apples and another CSA Pickup today.

message 4680: by Félix (new)

Félix (habitseven) Last train to Groningen.

message 4681: by Jonathan (new)

Jonathan Lopez | 4726 comments That was a Monkees tune, wasn't it?

message 4682: by Sarah (new)

Sarah | 13814 comments Groningen has its own horse breed. They almost died out, but they've been bred back into existence. So I can meet you at the station with a nice carriage instead of a car.

message 4683: by Jonathan (new)

Jonathan Lopez | 4726 comments Beautiful animal.

message 4684: by janine (new)

janine | 7709 comments another horse we're very fond of:

message 4685: by Jonathan (new)

Now I'm eating hot fresh apple pie with cheddar cheese.

message 4687: by Jonathan (new)

Jonathan Lopez | 4726 comments Mmmmm.

message 4688: by Jim (new)

Jim | 6484 comments I've never eaten apple pie with cheese despite growing up listening to "Apple pie without the cheese is like a kiss without the squeeze" on the radio every day.

janine | 7709 comments Jonathan wrote: "Nice. Is that the Groningen train station in the background?"

yes.

message 4690: by Sarah (new)

Sarah | 13814 comments That horse's tail has been pinned on a little too high.

message 4691: by janine (new)

janine | 7709 comments it's a very special breed.

message 4692: by Sarah (new)

Sarah | 13814 comments janine wrote: "it's a very special breed."

Most horses start farting when you get near that end in any case. I consider it to be social commentary.

Sally wrote: "Now I'm eating hot fresh apple pie with cheddar cheese."

That seems like a mistake to me. I would replace the cheese with vanilla ice cream.

Félix (habitseven) janine wrote: "Jonathan wrote: "Nice. Is that the Groningen train station in the background?"

yes."

So that's the station at which our train will arrive. Can't wait!

message 4695: by Brittomart (new)

Brittomart Right now I'm wondering if there's an adjective form of the word "imagery"

message 4696: by Félix (new)

Félix (habitseven) Imagy.

message 4697: by Jonathan (new)

Jonathan Lopez | 4726 comments Imagistic could work in certain limited contexts, discussing early 20th-century verse. But probably a word like evocative would be less awkward and more like what you're looking for.

message 4698: by Phil (new)

Phil | 11852 comments Right now I'm relaxing after serving dinner to the in-laws, and I'm wondering if I should get some exercise on the bike trainer.

Jackie "the Librarian" | 8991 comments I'm making butternut squash ravioli for dinner, with butter and maple syrup drizzled on top. Yum!

message 4700: by [deleted user] (new)

Jackie you had me salivating until I read you had drizzled the maple syrup over it.
