Drury Inn's are the best. i used to be a Hampton guy but these are great. about the same rate and they have a happy hour sort of deal that is kind of a mixer for biz people every nite in the lobby area with real food and free drinks if you are a drinker. helps you to feel not so lonely. not sure on dinner. i hate to go to franchise places that i can eat anywhere. i have a rental car so i will ask about local BBQ places. people tell me "that ain't 'zactly your end of town but they got good bbq..."

I like the one with peanut butter and chocolate crunchies in vanilla ice cream.

You're rubbing hummus on Kevin?

Stop it. I'm trying to get some work done. (I've gone red it the face desperately trying to stop laughing)
i am writing sally on the wall of this room in lipstick. wait...i don't have lipstick. yeah...i am writing it in chainsaw oil. yeah. that's it
my flights today were hectic so my shoulders are tense. i had to run in IND and ATL to catch flights and had to land in bumflip, MS and gotta do it all over again tomorrow. i didn't ask for a geisha girl and a gallon of oil. just some massage and aromatherapy. geesh
Mid-range hotel beds have improved dramatically over the last several years. Hampton"s are among the best.
I have never stayed in a Drury Inn. Something about the name. Reminds me of the muffin man, I think. Or drudgery.
They're a delight, Larry. big clean rooms and a free hot breakfast. Best service of any hotel I've ever stayed in.
I only stay at Corporate Lodging hotels anymore. Never had a Drury as a choice, actually.I don't like the free breakfasts at hotels. Something about all those people milling around making their own waffles and toasts and standing in the way. And the coffee is always in styrofoam cups. Yech I hate styrofoam.
I know, right? I normally do too. But they have a GOOD one. With good strong coffee in clean white ceramic cups, and fresh omlettes and a man making omlettes just for you. And they serve breakfast until, like 2pm.
And they have good free fast wifi.

I'm staying at the Courtyard Lloyd Center in Portland next week. Last time I was there I saw Meadowlark Lemon in the lobby twice in two days! (you know who he is?) And the time before that I stayed there and went to the restaurant you wanted to go to for lobster mac and cheese.
And you loved it! So trust my judgement on the Drury! Next time you take the Mrs to the midwest, perhaps a jaunt to St. Louis, do me this favor and try it out! ;)
Who is Meadowlark Lemon?

He was a Harlem Globetrotter. Now he's a preacher of some kind.http://www.meadowlarklemon.org/biogra...
Drury Inn = Greati have stayed at Hampton's a lot. in 2005 i spent 8 months in a Hampton in AL. they are nice. Holiday Inn Express are nice and have the BEST cinnamon rolls for breakfast
def worth it larry. they have a very nice free "happy hour" every night with real food and drinks which is more like a social hang out for business travelers. a very nice idea and done very well. rooms are similar to hampton and most of these hotels are new as they are just taking off
Is that like the new MacDonalds MacAngus Burger? It's a little bit fancy . Or thats how they are selling it here anyway. (Oh my kids are addicted to ad's not Macca's)
Macca's? Yup (Urban Dictionary):That is what Australian's call the giant golden arches conglomerate (McDonalds) that invaded our country like all other developed nation in the world.
"No country with a maccas has ever waged war against the United States."
Interesting. I learn another one every day, Gail.
Why, what do you call Macca's?
There is always a first time.
::Contempates war on all Americans. Hmmmm, will send a good supply of cane-toads first to test the water::

If I mentioned Starlings would you be scared?
I know you have Starlings. They were an introduced species by some wacko who wanted all the birds mentioned in Shakespeare to exist in America. They are now in plague proportions (or so I have read)
The cane toads are a similarly introduced species here. They have had a devastating effect on the eco system.

Yes, you can have the rabbits as well, The rabbits have been largely controlled with the introduction of a disease called myxomatosis.
Nothing has been found to control the cane toads.

Don't know, maybe Homer knows?

I found this on Google
'In an episode of The Simpsons entitled Bart vs. Australia, Bart Simpson tries to bring a bullfrog into Australia only to find that foreign organisms are not permitted through customs. He decides to leave the frog at a fountain in the airport but the frog quickly escapes through an open window. Throughout the rest of the episode, bullfrogs are seen rapidly multiplying and becoming an overall nuisance. By the end of the episode, as the Simpsons escape the American consulate via helicopter, the entire continent is shown to be overrun with frogs.'
My money is on the cane toads to beat the bullfrogs.

just walked in an elevator and there was a guy dressed in camouflage carrying a soft tactical assault weapon case with something in it and carrying a long rifle cleaning rod. he tried to push a floor button and instead pressed the one for the alarm which was very loud with the door still open. i just looked up at him and said "that's what i would have done if i were carrying that"btw - keep listening for news story from meridian, MS
I'm glad that some other people have never heard of Drury Inns. But we have Hampton Inns everywhere lately, it seems.Ok, did the guy look he was going hunting, Kevin? Or just making sure the lobby was safe?
apparently he may have been with the military as i see there is a base near here. glad he wasn't sweating and asking if i had ever seen red dawn
