Hi Misty ! Can you please take over for me when I go on my maternity leave?

Just kidding, I don't think I'll be able to stay away.

message 3808: by RandomAnthony (new)

RandomAnthony | 14536 comments Welcome to TC, Misty!

Sallers, you'll need something to do when the baby is sleeping...

message 3809: by Misty (new)

Misty | 36 comments Sometimes, the babies don't sleep! Thanks for the welcome, and congratulations, Sally! When are you due?

Boy howdy me, too, Jim. It's kind of exciting. But then I'm kinda drunk right now.

message 3811: by [deleted user] (new)

I second RA's welcome Misty.

Here's your fruit basket.

Jackie "the Librarian" | 8991 comments Right now I'm at the reference desk at the Lacey Library, which is aswarm with kids who have the day off from school, book group attenders, and seniors here to get tax help.
Oh, and the usual folk who need help with the computers.

janine | 7709 comments i am looking for something to replace my ipod. it died yesterday. it lived a long and prosperous life (for an ipod that is).

message 3819: by Kevin (new)

Kevin (ksprink) | 11469 comments replace with an ipod. yes. do that. you should already have your music/audiobooks/movies in itunes so it will be a smooth transition.

message 3820: by RandomAnthony (new)

RandomAnthony | 14536 comments My Zune has been great so far. Boo Apple. Boo Itunes.

message 3821: by janine (new)

janine | 7709 comments i can't afford an ipod right now so it is going to be a cheaper alternative.

message 3822: by Kevin (new)

Kevin (ksprink) | 11469 comments are zune's really cheaper than an ipod? really?

message 3823: by [deleted user] (new)

RA is just supporting a different devil than we are.

message 3824: by RandomAnthony (new)

RandomAnthony | 14536 comments I don't think they're cheaper, true.

message 3825: by janine (new)

janine | 7709 comments i bought the cheapest option that had 16gb, a philips.

message 3826: by RandomAnthony (new)

RandomAnthony | 14536 comments I just ordered a pizza online. That was nifty. I dislike the pizza order phone call.

message 3827: by RandomAnthony (last edited Feb 19, 2010 04:22PM) (new)

RandomAnthony | 14536 comments My eleven year old was on the desktop while I was on the laptop. I saw my wife's IM window open, on the desktop, so I messaged him and we just had this conversation:

Anthony: Smelly Poop. Cheese. Scary dancing.

Him: i hate u

Anthony: Excuse me. I will scream if I see you type "u" for "you" again.

Him: u are the worst

message 3828: by Youndyc (new)

Youndyc | 1255 comments HaHa! I love that exchange. U must be really happy with him. Though I am curious about the "smelly poop" start to the conversation....

message 3829: by smetchie (last edited Feb 19, 2010 04:27PM) (new)

smetchie | 4034 comments Ordering pizza online is the greatest. Right now I'm trying to figure out my cool new phone. I was frustrated because I couldn't figure out how to transfer stuff from my pc but it's so great with goodreads I am forgiving it.

message 3830: by RandomAnthony (new)

RandomAnthony | 14536 comments Ooh, I never thought to try GR from the Zune. Can you type really fast on your phone, Gretchen? I still suck at handheld device typing.

YC, thanks...sometimes I'll throw weird phrases at him when he's playing video games or talking with his friends about girls until he tells me to go away. He doesn't know of TC, thankfully, or he could get revenge by citing what we discuss here:)

message 3831: by smetchie (new)

smetchie | 4034 comments No, I cannot type really fast at all. But I've tried to read GR on my husbands bbry and it sucks. My new phone has a great screen and I can see everything really clearly. I love it! If only I could figure out the damn PC part I'd be jumping for joy.

RA how do you keep your kids from knowing about TC?!? You have to tell me. I need to adopt your methods.

message 3832: by Vanessa (new)

Vanessa (buckythecat) Right now, I'm catching up on my TC and my daughter keeps saying "what" when I laugh. She is playing with Bendaroos and I talked her into turning off the Taylor Swift in her bedroom and am now irritating her with my own music on the stereo.

message 3833: by Kevin (new)

Kevin (ksprink) | 11469 comments i can do TC on my iphone but the screen is so small it almost isn't worth it

I'm still really sad. I suppose that is normal. I did the right thing, right?

message 3837: by Félix (last edited Feb 19, 2010 07:44PM) (new)

Félix (habitseven) Absolutely. I'm still not over my last one -- four years ago.

message 3838: by Cambridge (new)

Cambridge (hsquare) | 509 comments Random A... I am never confident that the pizza will come when we order it online but the husband does it all the time, he insists on it as opposed to calling (i am not that technically advanced) and I LOVE that IM.... kids are the best.

message 3839: by Cambridge (new)

Cambridge (hsquare) | 509 comments Oh and currently procrastinating. (by way of GR)

message 3840: by Félix (new)

Félix (habitseven) Most definitely.

message 3841: by Knarik (new)

Knarik I am doing some research for the consulate I intern with, and all the cells in my brain are screaming!!!

message 3842: by RandomAnthony (new)

RandomAnthony | 14536 comments Sally, I don't regret putting our dog or cat asleep when we had to make the call. They were both in pretty serious pain, and in retrospect, well, it was the right decision.

Gretchen, my oldest son knows of GR but he doesn't know of TC in particular. I don't think they care much, honestly, about what I do online. They think it's all nerdy.

Vanessa, what did you play to annoy your daughter? New Order?

message 3843: by Kevin (new)

Kevin (ksprink) | 11469 comments my daughter candace turned me on to GR's. all her nerdy library friends use it. of course they have a secret private group that they don't allow me into. they prob talk about new release books they got in and who has the biggest fines and such. i don't care. i don't want to be in their stinky group anyway. (wonder what they are talking about...)

message 3844: by Vanessa (new)

Vanessa (buckythecat) The screaming brainz sounds like something from MST3k.

Not New Order, although that would do the trick, since I might break out into dance. I was playing Mandy Barnett. She sounds a lot like Patsy Cline. I like to sing along. I do not sound like Patsy Cline.

I looooove ordering pizza online, and do it 90% of the time.

message 3846: by Félix (new)

Félix (habitseven) Sally wrote: "I looooove ordering pizza online, and do it 90% of the time."

I would be worried that I would order it in the wrong city. And the pizza would be really cold when it finally got here.

It's silly, I know.

message 3847: by [deleted user] (new)

I just shoveled the driveway in a t-shirt. Don't break my heart spring.

message 3848: by Sally, la reina (new)

Sally (mrsnolte) | 17373 comments Mod
I did too, Larry! But it seems to be faster and more efficient and less annoying. It works.

message 3849: by janine (new)

janine | 7709 comments right now i'm watching men's speed skating 10km. i shouldn't enjoy seeing them break down in the second half, but it's a great diversion while i wait for the good ones to start.
