OOHHH, yeah - Ralph Lauren's Polo and also Aramis both gross me out.

Jackie, I don't understand you. Reword, please."

Sorry, Sally. I guess that was too jargony. I have these Japanese comic-book style stories, that come out in series, that are called manga. They can have 20 or 30 books in the series, by the time they're done.

So, one library in my library system didn't have enough space in their shelves for some of these manga, and they sent them to me to deal with.
If they're in okay shape, I pick a different library for them to live at. And that's what I'm doing right now, deciding what library these books should be sent to.

You guys :P

Jackie, the manga should go in the "hip" section, near the art books and the crime fighting biographies.

Heidi, this thread has been hijacked for longer on weirder topics. I feel like this was a general good smells convo that has momentarily sidetracked into perfume smells, but might just as suddenly veer into cut grass and freshly broiled steaks directions.

Who likes blue cheese on their steaks? (I do! I do!)

under the log near the stream below the forest glen?

message 3658: by Heidi (new)

Heidi (heidihooo) | 10825 comments I've never tried bleu cheese on my steaks. I love steak in general! And I like bleu cheese. Marrying the flavors? Is it good? Tell me more. I take my steaks very seriously.

message 3659: by RandomAnthony (new)

RandomAnthony | 14536 comments I love blue cheese on veggie burgers.

Sally (mrsnolte) | 17373 comments Mod
Mmmm, marrying the flavors indeed. The tang of the cheese nicely balances the uumph of the steak. Better still is to wash it down with a nice full red cab.

Don't mind me, I'm just going to go on planning my first post-pregnancy meal.

Heidi (heidihooo) | 10825 comments You can't eat steak or bleu cheese right now?

message 3662: by Sally, la reina (new)

Sally (mrsnolte) | 17373 comments Mod
No bleu cheese or red wine.

message 3663: by Heidi (new)

Heidi (heidihooo) | 10825 comments Ahhh. I've never been pregnant, so I don't know these things. I do know the no wine/alcohol thing, though.

message 3664: by Lori (new)

Lori No steak?

I didn't know about bleu cheese, yikes, I wonder if that's why Jake is so crazy, can't remember if I had it while pregnant.

I just remember the loss of clams, one of my favorite meals.

message 3665: by Heidi (new)

Heidi (heidihooo) | 10825 comments No clams, either?!!

Heidi (heidihooo) | 10825 comments I have a newfound appreciation for women who go through pregnancy.

Word. I can't imagine going 9 minutes, much less 9 months, without coffee.

Heidi (heidihooo) | 10825 comments NO COFFEE, either?!!

message 3670: by Charlie (new)

Charlie (bitsyblingbooks) I'm wondering why my book has to be shipped from NC to Seattle just so I can ship it back to IN. It would save so much time if the printing press could just ship it directly to the warehouse. I'm a bit jealous, my writing is doing more traveling than me at the moment. So....I keep staring at the computer screen and clicking buttons hoping to find some way to make this happen, but it's not and I'm frustrated. Time is money, time is money...I'll say it again, time is money! Bah!

message 3671: by Lori (new)

Lori Oh posh, I had coffee, my ob said it was just fine. I only drink one mugga in the morning anyway, I think the coffee rule is not to have lots.

You know, women have been having babies for thousands of years, and drinking coffee for centuries.

Shellfish, especially with the state of the oceans, I can understand. Booze I can understand. Except did ya know that beer is recommended to bring on labor if you are running late?

message 3672: by Mary (last edited Dec 29, 2009 12:17PM) (new)

Mary (madamefifi) My sister Carrie was a fanatic while she was PG, both times. She practically limited herself to bread and water. Were I ever to get knocked up, please god NO, I suspect I would be a bit more lax. Hell, my mother smoked while she was preggers with me, and I'm fine.

message 3673: by Félix (new)

Félix (habitseven) Oh, Mary.

message 3674: by Lori (new)

Lori Yes an occasional glass of wine is fine. The booze rule came around because of the fetal alcohol syndrome that many babies born especially in the 50s suffered from, when drinking during lunch and throughout the day was pretty norm.

As Bun says, it's all about moderation. Hysteria abounds in the last decade.

Jackie "the Librarian" | 8991 comments Right now I smell like laundry detergent. At least, my clothes do. Eau de Tide.

message 3681: by Félix (new)

Félix (habitseven) Jackie, is it low tide or high tide?

Jackie "the Librarian" | 8991 comments It's High Efficiency Tide, for front-loading washers, Larry.
I don't think low tide scented detergent would sell all that well...

message 3683: by Félix (new)

I was just being polite. I don't want to usurp Sally's poll. So, I'll wait for at least a day until I start a new thread, maybe more depending on the answers. :)
