Jaimie wrote: "I feel like I'm in the movie Office Space. Grrrr!"That was a great movie, I feel like that everyday at work. It's so pathetic, when Friday comes and everyone is getting ready for the weekend, I'm in my office going "it's only 2 days till this crap starts all over again" I think that qualifies as one of the top 10 signs you're ready to leave your job...
Actually I love my job, and I have a lot of customers who won't have me leave, besides, I bake cookies for the guy in the office next to me...
I just can't wait until after November! I started listening to my holiday music today. I have almost 20 hours of holiday music altogether on the latest playlist. :) I made my officemate promise me she'll let me know if it starts getting on her nerves. So far, so okay... It probably helps that it's on "random shuffle."
right now i am eating hot wings and drinking diet coke at me desk while doing important work in my office. ok, that is partly true. i really am checking email and TC but i am eating hot wings
Right now I'm procrastinating going home even though I'm tired and hungry. I just don't wanna go out in the cold and walk to my car. Teleport me, someone!
How's your parking space?Parking is often the major topic of conversation at our university. I'm not kidding.
It is a joke at our campus. There are only so many lots, and this year three of the best were turned into new math/science/computer science buildings. So even more Z lots turned into A lots for faculty. It takes a good 1/2 hour to find a spot between 9am and 3pm. Even then I don't park on campus, I park on side streets near campus and walk in, because I can not afford $350 a semester for a spot in a lot that is only available some of the time.
I'm glad that I'm not the only person who is already listening to Christmas/holiday music! I've been getting crap for it the last week, everyone tells me to at least wait until after Thanksgiving...I have a collection of music also that I bring out and jam to..now I just need to get my lights up outside before it really gets cold...

Right now, I'm thinking about a crazy dream I had last night - Tom Cruise left his career as a superstar actor to become a corporate trainer... and he was in town to do some corporate training for a friend's company. So, while he was in town, we ended up chatting the night before his big presentation and I asked him to teach me a trick, so he taught me to do handstands on the edge of tables. That's how I practiced the trick, too - on the edge of tables.
:) I have LOTS of weird dreams... always have. This would probably also be the place to mention that my dog has started a new wake-up routine recently that cracks me up. He stretches across my stomach... and then steamrolls his way upward until he's nuzzled/stretched across my neck. I took a picture this morning with my phone camera when I wasn't quite awake because I didn't think anyone would believe me.
Actually, I don't mind... My eyes were closed though because they were still adjusting to the light.
Honestly, I can't help but laugh when he does that. And it wakes me up. So now his morning routine is either a. burrow under the covers into the far corner and go back to sleep or b. stretch across me and knead/pounce on my belly until I'm awake... and then roll up to my neck. Either way, he's hilarious.
I'm sitting on the sofa with my Netbook in my lap. Thinking about taking a shower, but not too seriously.
I have to wait until I get home to see that pic, Heidi.Mary: Carry on.
I'm drifting mentally right now. Weird stuff going on with work. Trying to figure out the path ahead. Looking for signs.
Larry wrote: "I have to wait until I get home to see that pic, Heidi."I can email it to you, Larry.
Check your mailbox.
Kevin "El Liso Grande" wrote: "that looks like gizmo from the gremlins"He's MUCH cuter than Gizmo, Kevin! And he doesn't turn into a monster in the water. :)
Kevin "El Liso Grande" wrote: "i am sure. i seem to have lost my inner monologue recently. sorry"No worries. I have the exact same gift.
I am WAAAAAY overstuffed from the Coconut Curry Shrimp (yes, I picked crustaceans... and am now wishing I didn't) & Rice that I got at lunch... and I didn't even eat half of it. I'm gonna have to be wheelbarrowed out of the office to my car. Bleh.
Oh, that sounds scrumptuous though Heidi. As an update on my Mom-in-law - she had a stroke last month and we thought she was in a locked-in state, but we've found that she's not. She's been moved to a physical therapy facility in Tacoma and night before last she called my husband, with my Dad-in-law's help, and although we couldn't really understand most of her words, she said Jared, Sherrie and Jessi and told us all she loved us. It was amazing.
I've never seen Jared so relieved or so broken up, but we're taking this as a good sign. She's the toughest lady I know, and I'm praying that this shows how hard she's willing to fight. Thanks for everyone's well wishes and prayers in this. :)
Wow. Both my dad and stepmother have had strokes. These next few months are crucial, Sherrie, and her recovery's going to be completely dependent upon just how determined she is to recover fully. My stepmother was in considerably bad shape after her stroke - couldn't talk, read, write, communicate, understand communication... She'd get pissed off just looking at a television. AND she was a career journalist - still writing for the Memphis newspaper at that time. The occupational therapist pulled me out in the hall to tell me we were going to need to talk to a social worker about helping us apply for disability. I KNEW that after we'd gone through it with my dad already, there was NO way she'd take that kind of news lying down. She didn't.
She worked her BUTT off. I've never seen anyone so determined to overcome her obstacles. Ever. Within 5 months, she was back at work part time. She works full time doing PR/media relations. She said the neurons in her brain were trained to take a new path so the synapses could connect. Whatever she did, it worked. When I think about where she was on the day I drove her into the emergency room in comparison to where she is now, it just amazes and inspires me.
I hope your mother-in-law has a speedy recovery, Sherrie. The first year is just crucial. Be tough on her over the next year. You have to be if you love her. Because after the time goes by, it's gone... and so is the window for recovery. I know that sounds harsh, but it's the kindest, most loving thing you could ever possibly do for her. Hang in there and tell your husband to do the same.
Thanks Heidi, I really appreciate the first-hand feedback and the encouragement. :)About 5 years ago she had some kind of episode that was never officially diagnosed, we thought it was guillain barre syndrome but now we're suspecting a stroke then too. She basically refused to go to a theraputic facility then and recovered remarkably in that first year, although she never fully recovered. Now she has no choice but be in a facility but she's already made more progress than we expected.
I'll be as tough as I can with her, and really encouraging as well. If she's decided it's not her time yet, then I think she'll fight, but I know that some days she feels like she's just too tired. She's been through a lot. But, she's got a lot of people who love her to pieces, and her family means so much to her, so I think she'll fight as much as she can.
Sher, good luck. I have faith in you.Right now I'm recovering from a hangover. Last night we got some bad news at work (possible cuts, etc.) and I responded by getting very, very drunk for the first time in a good six or seven months. I danced around in the dark living room with my mp3 player in my hands. At one point I was listening to Run-DMC's "King of Rock" and I really wanted to duet the song with Kevin. You with me, Kevin? We can do it!

After 7 weeks in hospitalization and rehab, my dad's finally back home. :D I'm hoping I'll get to see him over the holidays. Fingers crossed...
Glad to hear things are going well, hope you get to see him too.
whatta day!!! left the house at 7:30am and went to the airport. many many delays and such later (two flights, a sprint through the CHA airport and a clueless 2 hour drive thru a very dark VA and i am finally at my hotel.great room, monday nite football and a fully belly. now checking up on some friends (hint....you guys)
Welcome to Virginia, Kevin.I've been up since 3AM. Insomnia plus the old man's snoring plus too many cats on the bed making me sweat. I hate waking up at 3AM, it's creepy.
Good point. It's really just the 3AM part I don't like--that is "the Devil's hour" according to all the scary movies I watch compulsively. It didn't help that what woke me last night was the bedroom door slamming shut and then a few seconds later swinging open again. Turns out it was just a couple of cats playing but it scared me! I have an overactive imagination.
Years ago when I used to work all odd hours, we always called 3 to 4 am the 'bewitching hour" as that was the time it was most difficult to stay focused on the task at hand. It has to do with biorhythms -- as energy levels tend to drop really low about that time of day.
I'm procrastinating at work. It's hard to get motivated when half the office is out this week. On the other hand, with half the office out this week, I should be able to catch up on a few back burner work projects.... or my to-do list.....Or not.
We'll see.
I'm in the same identical situation, Youndy. It's a chance to take a breath and get refocused -- or not. We'll see. :)
Right I'm ticked off and need to vent. I was told last week that they were closing down one of our locations this week, laying most of the staff off. This was a location that was so self sufficient all I needed to do was supervise. Now I'm going to have to be more hands on.I'm already doing a job that should be handled by two people, plus helping out reception once a week. I was informed this morning that my over-time was cut off. Yes, it could be worse: I still have a job and I get to keep my 40 hours where as the rest of the hourly people are being bumped down to 32.
But I'm just really ticked off at higher-ups giving you lip service on how much they appreciate you but don't back it up!
Happy Monday! :-)
Right now I am in my chair with a camp lap blanket and my beagle dog beside me (jeff foxworthy would have a hayday)been in DET all week (monsta-depressing place) for work. Flippin freezin there Mr Bigglesworth
Watching some weird movie that came on after Jools Holland and drinking Absolut pear vodka and tonic.
They found him dead from a gun shot wound on the road that I walk on about twice a week, but haven't for over a week because I hadn't had time. Otherwise there was a decent chance I could have found him.

Yes, he was found just down the road, where I usually walk.
right now im watching Fox News; go ahead say what you will.. im also compusivly checking my email and things here at TC, soon or eventually i will look at google maps..
Right now I'm getting ready to clean a very messy closet...but I saw Heidi's new haircut pic, and damn she's lookin' stylish...
Right now I'm feeling fat and sick and lazy. I don't know for sure if our heater is working and this is disturbing on many levels, most of all financial. Think I'll go back to reading my book under many blankets.
Watching the Gaylord Music City Bowl. Go Clemson! (eh, I don't really care, I just dig the purple-and-orange uniforms).

I'm still swishing it two days later... like they would do in the Vidal Sassoon commercials.
