Right now I'm ... Janine awesomeness
No, I'm not that ambitious, Larry. I'm just boiling the ones from the cheese section in the supermarket, and putting Classico spaghetti sauce over them.
Oh wow. Heat up the bread a little. How about some nice parmigiano-reggiano grated over top of the ravioli?Oh Jackie. We really should have wine.
Yes! More cheese is ALWAYS welcome, Larry!:::searches house for wine, finds expensive tequila, cheap rum, and Cointreau, keeps looking:::
And Cointreau, which is the basis for a really excellent Margarita, Larry. I like mine with lemon instead of lime.
Oh but now I have to go wash my dishes. Knock yourselves out you two. Oh and I guess three if we count Chris.
Change of plans. All the green beans are outside in the dark. Salad instead, with tomato and avocado.
After waiting for almost 2 months for approval, it finally happened. I was approved for my vacation request for this next week - 4 days off (6 days including the weekend). I was resigned to the possibility that I might have to miss it, but that's just not the case - I'll be in Texas for my sister's wedding. :) I'm pretty stoked. I'll get to see family. My nephew comes up to my chin now - he's getting so big (but I can still command respect from him)! We even wear the same size shoes now... and while I don't have to worry about him wearing my high heels or wedges or girly flats, I totally can use wear his chuck taylors and roller skates and flip flops and heelies. :) And to boot... I'll be back to work for two days the next week and then I'm off again for another 4 days from work (so out 6 days total)
Have a great time in Texas, Heidi! What part of Texas will you be in?I would totally wear the chuck taylors...

The Houston area... we'll be aaaaaall over the place, I'm sure. PLUS, I have a date with my nephew to see Where the Wild Things Are on opening day - we were planning it looooong before the wedding was scheduled (convenient). :)
I'm glad you're going in October, Heidi. Houston in the summer is not fun. And, I really want to see Where the Wild Things Are, too!
Jackie "the Librarian" wrote: "I'm glad you're going in October, Heidi. Houston in the summer is not fun."Typically, it is... but I heard this past summer was fairly mild.
Strange weather, these days. It's another nonrainy day in the fall, in the Pacific Northwest.:::considers the blue skies suspiciously:::
It smells like Arkansas State Fair weather around here. And while the state fair doesn't always smell so good, "state fair weather" most definitely does. Heh. :) And as always happens, we are expecting our first cold spell during the weekend of the state fair (it's happened every year since I moved here 18 years ago). We can expect an Indian Summer soon after and it'll last for a few weeks and then the cold will be here to stay.
I finally got the pics online of the cookies I baked from scratch last week - white chocolate/lemon; white chocolate/lime; and as my sister calls them, Dream Cookies (or white chocolate/orange... because they taste like dreamsicle cookies)I think I'll bake some more of the lemon cookies this weekend for a Sunday kickball cookout. They were pretty fabulous - easy to make, too.
Follow a chocolate chip cookie recipe, using white chocolate chips instead of others (is even better with Ghiradelli white chocolate bar for baking). Add 1 tbsp citrus zest per dozen cookies. And at my sister's recommendation (they're her recipe/idea) - use an ice cream scoop to portion out dough on cookie sheet. Then flatten them. The orange ones are great holiday season gifts.
Voila. Finis... c'est bon!
C'est vrais!
OH! I almost forgot the pictures:
The citrus zest makes the WHOOOOLE house smell heavenly. Add the scent of fresh baked (from scratch) cookies to that and it REALLY smells heavenly.
And for perspective/scale on how big the cookies turned out to be, check out cookies next to the spatula:
Me too, Knarik. I like what you wrote about Dan Brown and Harry Potter. Good brain. :-)Larry you are always awake.
Right now, I'm getting ready to go out to see King Dinosaur's band play at the 4th Avenue Tavern. I've actually pulled out the curling iron, which is probably a futile gesture, given how hard it's raining outside right now...
I hope you said Hi from us all.
Jim! No, I didn't know I was supposed to!Poor KD was suffering from a nasty cold, although you could't tell from his singing, which is good, although not as good as his lovely wife's. He did take a "lozenge break" midway through the set.
Their best song was about cattle rustlers, and possibly cattle mutilation, given what the drummer said in the intro. I couldn't quite make out some of the lyrics. Maybe that's a good thing...
No you weren't supposed to Jackie, got on here after you would have been home from the show already.
Get well KD.
Get well KD.
I hope you had a great time, Jacks...I normally just drink regular coffee but today I was adventurous and tried a double expresso (sp?) at the coffee shop.
I found myself talkingreallyfast with my friends and I don't think I'll be sleeping until Tuesday or so.

Yup, Jackie. It does seem backwards. But I sometimes have to clean up the kitchen before I cook, too.
