Yes, I'm glad you made it, too. This move took guts. Remember you got people here, Mindy.

Well, I ended up just renting a room from someone b/c yes, it is very expensive here. It's in Kew Gardens:http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Kew_Gard...
which seems to be a cool neighborhood. Not at all scary, though I am still filled with anxiety and probably will be a for a few months until I get settled. And pics will be coming as soon as I get a battery for my camera!
Hmmm, looking at that wiki, and my zip code is actually 11418, which comes up Richmond Hill, but my landlord says this is Kew Gardens. Who knows? (Maybe Gus?)http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Richmond...
Yay, I'm glad to be back again, and I'm SO happy the moving experience is OVER. That might've been (and still continues to be with the being in a new place SOOO different and SOOO far from the old place) the most stressful experience of my life since I left the biker and got sober.
I had the strangest day yesterday:- My a/c started leaking condensation, and flooded the carpet in my living room and bedroom. I had to move my furniture out of the way... a bookshelf collapsed so now I have a huge stack of books on my large couch and they have no home.
- About the time I discovered the leaking (which I initially thought was coming from the water spigot outside my place), I heard some gurgling coming from my sink. It was flooding with water. I ended up throwing no less than 20 large pans full of water down into my toilet and flushing it to keep my kitchen sink from flooding my place, also.
- The maintenance guy said he'd be over as soon as he was done bringing his kid some lunch that he was on the way to pick up. He lives 30 minutes from my place. I had to wait for him for 45 minutes (thus the large pans of water being thrown out).
- I took my dog over to a friend's house yesterday morning (before the leak incidents) so he could play with said friends' dogs in the backyard. Robby must've gotten into a nest of fleas or something because I pulled no less than 50 off him yesterday. As soon as I saw one (while we were still at the friend's home), I took him home and bathed him thoroughly. I'm taking him to the vet today as soon as I'm able.
- I had trouble sleeping because there were two carpet blowers running all night (in the living room and in my bedroom) and because I kept itching even though there was nothing to make me itch.
I've discovered I loathe water leaks and fleas with a passion.
Wow Heidi sorry to hear about your day. Here's hoping that the rest of your week is the polar opposite of yesterday.
Actually, I am moving. I'm moving at the end of September. I'm ambivalent about it already, though... I'll be living with a roommate again. I'd like to save money so I can buy a house and right now, with rent going up each year, I'm not on track to do that. I KNOW I'm going to miss my privacy/personal space but I keep reminding myself that it's a necessary sacrifice. Fortunately, new roommate's a neat freak, doesn't watch television, and is also a v. private person... all like me.
It'll be so worth it when you buy your own house. Congratulations on that huge life step, friend!
I suspect this upheaval (that hasn't happened yet) has everything to do with why I've been extra grumpy lately. I'm completely resistant to having another person living in my space.
Practiced patience Heidi, remembering the end will be worth it.
Yeah, well... I'll probably be grumpier than usual over the next month or so until I'm absolutely settled into the new digs... and then grumpy will likely be taken to a whole new level.
Would biting RA's nose help?:)
I'm adjusting to having a roommate again, too. He's very nice, but I'm mostly staying in my room. It's a bit of a different vibe, though, I imagine, since he's also the landlord.
I'll offer up RA's nose too if it saves mine.
