I was referring to a guy I met at work.I am a small town, white girl who does not socialize much and that is still more than my family.Winston was from New York he was a recovering addict, he was black, gay and we later found out together, he HIV pos.
He told me how rare it was to meet people like me and my family. When he came to our house we didn't stalk after him, he left him alone with the kids, we hugged him and ate with him. I didn't know this was a big deal but to Winston, it was a very big deal. I guess he had been prejudged a lot. My instincts told me he was just like me, just trying to find his way in the world. He was one of my best friends.
OKay, in that same respect, sometimes my instincts will tell me to trust someone that others don't because of prejudice and whatnot. I'll listen to my gut in those instances, too... So I guess it works in more than one way.
Okay, I agree with Kevin. Benefit of the doubt and all -- and if it were just me and this guy, I'd be totally cool. He seems like a nice person. But things change a little when my close friends become involved? And the younger men of this generation have not proven themselves very trustworthy in relational matters.... She just got out of a kind of messy relationship, so I guess I'm being a little over-protective? Yesterday, though, he stayed for dinner and complimented my cooking so. He's making all the right moves, for sure.
Maybe a little too smooth....
And by "porridge," I meant this soupy-rice dish which is typically made for sick persons because it's easy on the digestive.
You can live with someone for years and never really know them. "I can't believe he is a serial killer he was so nice"
Keep your radar on Nools. You are a good friend.
Nools, I know what you mean about when friends are involved. My best friend has an unerring instinct for picking the wrong guys. Every time. :(
Goes back to listening to your instincts, people... :) Peeps who make bad choices in relationships choose to ignore all the subtle warnings - they do exist if one pays attention. More times than not, they choose to ignore them because they prefer it to cutting that person off or out of his/her life. Some people prefer dysfunction to living alone. Serial killers - people who do know them almost always respond with "there always was something just a little off... I just couldn't put my finger on it, I dunno... he SEEMED nice enough, though" or something to that effect. OF COURSE, HE SEEMED NICE ENOUGH - psychopaths are natural manipulators and charismatic! And even that sends off a signal if you're tuned in to your internal radar.
nah....i have prob given rides to John Wayne Gacy and never knew it."hey bro....what's with the scimitar and the trash bags?"
Right now, I'm feeling like I fell into a Jimmy Buffett song. I "blew out my flip-flop" while walking around the baseball fields. One of my new ones I just got, too! :(On the UP side, I did not subsequently step on a pop top. But I would like a margarita anyways.

this kind of comment is why i love jackie.
right now i am shaking off the cobwebs in my head from heavy sleep (you would think the motorcycle ride to work and/or the coffee would have already done that) and checking important things online (GR, ESPN,etc) prior to doing any real work

On a teleconference for an hour - I may get grumpy also.
Larry wrote: "I was really hoping that wouldn't be offensive. It isn't, is it Heidi?"
I doubt it was offensive Larry.
I doubt it was offensive Larry.
Good. I mean good you're not offended. Not good that you're grumpy. Oh, you know what I mean. Dammit.
I have a barely controlled urge to yell
"Maaaannn... F*CK ALL Y'ALL!!!"
at somebody/anybody right now (but not you guys!). The only things keeping me from doing it are a. the fact that I've already been reprimanded for cussing at work and offending my officemate(prude); b. I worry it'd fall on deaf, unaffected ears; and c. I worry that what if I did it and then I was still grumpy and it didn't make me feel any better? I clearly have rage issues. So I have the door shut to my office instead.
I just signed Chels up for her junior year of highschool!!!AAAGH. Next week she turns 17 and I am not ready to deal with my baby being growed up...sniffOn the bright side, I get to enroll Madison into school next year. I will be oldest mom there, I'm sure.haha
We just partially moved my daughter down to school for her sophomore year, and my wife isn't handling this year much better than last year. That plus the fact our son is just starting high school doesn't help.
my last child at home is a senior this year (and a stud). he has a fiery red beard and looks like a thick viking on the football field. two married this summer and one a senior this fall. whew!
Yeah viking! Chelsea is going to start off at a local college. A lot can change in two years though. As for boys, she is not ready for a serious relationship. If a boy gets to clingy in that way she steps off.
Oh! The second wedding happened? Kevin, and you didn't keep us apprised of every news-breaking minute of it? Congrats! And I hope you've had a chance to catch your breath. I mean, putting together just one wedding is crazy enough -- two must've been insane! : )
