Feeling Nostalgic? The archives

Right now I'm ... Janine awesomeness
Sounds nice, Larry!
Right now I'm finally finished packing and cleaning the guest room, getting things ready for our house/cat sitter. I'm so happy someone is coming to stay here, so I don't have to take the cats to my moms, and worry about my tomatoes dying.
I'll be in KY until next week, so y'all are going to have to update your own thread titles and categories without me. :)
Take it easy, cheesy!

Why wouldn't you go for a walk, Nools?Right now I'm going to meditate and maybe take a day or two off from working out. Listen to your body, etc.
Have with the conservative relatives, Sally:)
The first thing they tell you when you come to Cal, and especially if you're a girl, is to never walk around at night alone, but growing up, night was the time to walk. It's quiet and cool and you don't need to wear sunblock. I guess I kind of often come here to pep-talk myself into going out.
I've officially decided (as of 3 seconds ago) to add Alexander Skarsgård to my small list of celeb crushes (Clive Owen, Javier Bardem).
Okay, mine's not quite that small - I'd also add Gerard Butler, Daniel Craig, Chow Yun Fat, Benicio Del Toro, Edward Norton, Seth Rogen, Michael Cera, Johnny Depp, Henry Cavill, Russell Crowe, Jake Gyllenhaal. Also on the list as embarrassing celeb crushes are Patrick Dempsey, Rob Pattinson (no giggles) and Josh Duhamel.
Just ate a Reese's Peanut Butter Cup Ice Cream Bar.I am in the land of happy dreams and hopes. Least until my boss asks me to do something. Til then...wheeee! Ice cream bliss.
Just came back from a 2 1/2 hour farewell lunch for my boss. It was at a strange Chinese-Japanese-American food buffet, and I am stuffed to the gills and trying to get some work done.
Trying not to doze off at my desk. Should be working on mailings to clients, but am doing this and reading a magazine. It's too hot to move. Going back and forth with my friend about the "Reno 911" episode tomorrow. Toby Huss is one of my celebrity crushes. I can't help it.
I just was in a meeting in which I said a room smelled like "old nun" after which someone pointed out an old nun was in the adjoining room and might have heard.
I'm working at the Olympia Library today, at the youth services desk. So far, I have recommended the Charlie Bone series by Jenny Nimmo, and Gary Paulsen books.
The Mr. Tucket books, about a kid who gets kidnapped by Pawnee Indians on the Oregon Trail, and escapes and has adventures.
Good for you Larry, I will go to the fridge and get a cold one and join you.
getting ready for home made baked ziti & garlic bread! I am starving - all of a sudden!vino in hand! already!!!!!
Larry wrote: "Right now I'm enjoying tall, cold Sin City Amber on the C Concourse in Las Vegas. It's good."you are blessed!
Heidi wrote: "I'm going SWIMMING!!! :D Right now. At this moment. Soooo excited!"hey!!!! are you there - still in the pool??? - water logged??? :)
Jackie "the Librarian" wrote: "I loved Shrinky-Dinks, but never had an EZ Bake Oven. I think I just used the regular oven, because I remember making cookies a lot in jr. high."I didnot have either but I did have ONE Barbie - the original - still have her too! :)
I just finished reading Judy Moody Was In a Mood. Not a Good Mood. A Bad Mood., which I have recommended many times (on the strength of other girls' recommendation) but never actually read myself. It was cute - like Ramona, but modern day, and set in Virginia instead of Portland, Oregon. I love reading kids' books - they take maybe an hour to read. I'm enjoying the feeling of accomplishment. :D
Also, I am enjoying a margarita and listening to Larry's shebang.
Kids' books do pad the reading list...I think I'm going for a bike ride this morning, 5AM, but I'm not sure how far as I'm recovering from some exhaustion/burnout...
Swimming in the pool was AWESOME last night. I was babysitting the girl who's been in my occasional charge for the past 6 years (I nicknamed her "The Munchkin" a while back and it stuck). After a few hours of swimming, we went back to my place, she took a bath while I cooked dinner, then I introduced her to The Beastie Boys... and we danced in my living room with my dog, Robby. He lost his mind! He was sooooo happy. She even busted out with some old dances that I haven't seen since my college years - Roger Rabbit, Running Man, Cabbage Patch, and some break dancing. I suspect she's learning it at montessori school. :)
Sounds like a great night Heidi.
I'm on Uncle Bob's computer out in Louisville, KY. We went to a cute bar/cafe on Bardstown Road last night. We got in around 9:45, and not to the cousin gathering until nearly 11, so they'd all eaten hours before and were just hanging about waiting for us.
Sweeter had a"Buzz" martini, with honey-infused whiskey and lime, and a guiness. He has about 32 aunts and uncles out here in KY, so MANY cousins.
Twas a fun night.
Now we're off for a dip in Uncle Bob's backyard pool before we go the ForeCastle festival. I think we're seeing The Black Keyes.

Sounds lovely, Sally! I'm working today, then working on refinishing my living room floor. Livin' on the edge.

Well, kind of....I can't go in my living room while the poly dries....hell, I can't even live on THOSE edges...I've been holed up in my bedroom. It's just like high school!
Today I'm back in my normal office for the morning, but this afternoon I will be working in Central Reference, answering phones. Placing holds and reserving internet computers, that's mostly what Central Reference librarians do.
A bat just fell from the cedar onto the deck while I was reading. I was planning on putting a flowerpot over him/her until I figured out what to do and the little bugger flew off over the back yard. Scared the shit out of me. He/she looked like he had a hairless spot. My wife found a dead one earlier in the week. Hope to hell it isn't rabies. We've lived here twelve years with bats and only had a couple others fall.
Ack! I like bats okay, but not falling out of trees at me. I think even bats with rabies aren't that dangerous as long as you don't TOUCH them. They don't come after you, I mean.
