Kevin (ksprink) | 11469 comments i agree usually but seeing RATM at less than full throttle dampens the moment (even if you shout for 3 days after)

message 202: by Félix (new)

Félix (habitseven) I find myself being into somewhat dampened moments these days.

Jackie "the Librarian" | 8991 comments No worries, Kevin. I would never attend a RATM concert... wearing earplugs.

message 204: by Sarah (new)

Sarah | 13814 comments There are definitely some shows that are worth suffering a little permanent hearing loss in order to hear them properly.
I try to wear earplugs whenever I can at other shows, since I can't wear them when I'm actually on stage.

message 205: by Kevin (new)

Kevin (ksprink) | 11469 comments but i agree, you should do what it takes to enjoy yourself comfortably. no reason to be miserable at something that is supposed to be fun

that is cool that you went to see the show jackie.

RandomAnthony | 14536 comments Right now I'm in office, listening to Stars of the Lid (part of an ambient office mix), trying to decide if I should continuing answering emails or clean my office. I mean, I'm usually more efficient when my office is clean, but if I clean, I'll need more time later to answer the emails. It's a tough one.

message 207: by Heidi (new)

Heidi (heidihooo) | 10825 comments I've been listening to David's Purposeful Vagueness mix... Peaches is getting alot of play right now. I had a frustrating week/weekend... I like to "sing" along. Loudly. :)

message 208: by Kevin (new)

Kevin (ksprink) | 11469 comments i just got home from CHI again. all finished with the project there. a couple of very nice days for working outside. now i am in my chair. ahhhhhhhhhhhh

message 209: by RandomAnthony (new)

RandomAnthony | 14536 comments You deserve that chair, man...a couple more days outside...and all that driving...damn.

message 210: by Leslie (new)

Leslie | 777 comments I'm sure it feels good to be home!

message 211: by Kevin (new)

Kevin (ksprink) | 11469 comments yeah, no more travel i think for a few weeks at least. i have to go to the library and get some new books

message 212: by RandomAnthony (new)

RandomAnthony | 14536 comments Right now I'm about to go to Costco/Dick's Sporting Goods/Library/Flower shop. My brain is fried after staring at my computer, working on academics, all morning.

Speaking of this morning, at one point my wife asked if I was going to Costco today. I said I was, and she asked me to pick up something. I DO NOT REMEMBER WHAT SHE SAID TO PICK UP. I nodded dutifully and totally tuned her out. I'm hoping a walk around the store will jog my memory.

I'm very tired, too, slept badly last night...but I'm flying on coffee...

message 213: by Sarah (new)

Sarah | 13814 comments I just ate a half of a rock hard bagel just because there were bagels in our office kitchen and dammit, there's never free food up there anymore. I'll take what I can get. It's the principle of the thing.

message 214: by Félix (new)

Félix (habitseven) Hey good for you, Sarah Pi. Stick to those principles.

message 215: by Félix (new)

Félix (habitseven) I'm sitting in an airport. Big surprise there. Ontario, CA is a not-so-bad place. But I'm headed home a day early. So I am pleased. Over and out.

Jackie "the Librarian" | 8991 comments Usually the free food that shows up in my lunch room is scary.

Salty licorice from Europe?
Veggie Booty healthy snack puffs?
A box of cones for ice cream, but no ice cream?
Wasabi soy nuts?

Uh, thanks, I'll pass...

message 217: by Sarah (new)

Sarah | 13814 comments I kind of like Veggie Booty. We used to have good food in the lunch room, but one of the cost-saving steps has been to stop providing food at events. Now it's just random things that people bring in, which is much sketchier.

message 218: by Kevin (new)

Kevin (ksprink) | 11469 comments i thought that is what you got when you ate too much broccoli with cheese sauce?

message 219: by Félix (new)

Félix (habitseven) Gross.

Jackie "the Librarian" | 8991 comments I'm ordering Black History Month books.
"Shouldn't these titles get reviewed in my library journals a little sooner than February?" is what I'm thinking.
I guess we'll have them around for next year, but still...

message 221: by RandomAnthony (new)

RandomAnthony | 14536 comments Teachers are the same way with free food in the lounge. I don't care what it is. We'll eat it. Week old donuts? Just eat around the gross edges.

I hope you make it home easier than the Reno trip, Jones...

message 222: by Félix (new)

Félix (habitseven) Thanks, RA. I'm meditating on that outcome right now. I try not to complain too much about these things. Just happy to be going home. Going thru Denver, which is always tricky this time of year.

message 223: by Sarah (new)

Sarah | 13814 comments I hope you arrive on the same flight as your luggage.

message 224: by Félix (new)

Félix (habitseven) Sarah Pi wrote: "I hope you arrive on the same flight as your luggage."

I don't even care about that, since I'm headed home. Just get my tired body there -- that's all I ask.

Jackie "the Librarian" | 8991 comments Yeah, you've been on the road a lot, haven't you Larry?

I'm listening to hail hit my office window. I thought spring was here, but now they're talking about snow in the forecast.

message 226: by Félix (new)

Félix (habitseven) Not more snow!

Yes, I have. Probably will be for a while. Such is my life. Could be worse. Such as being unemployed.

message 227: by RandomAnthony (last edited Feb 27, 2009 04:01PM) (new)

RandomAnthony | 14536 comments Right now I'm sitting in my home office, already wearing pajamas. I am very, very tired. I need to read through the threads, though.

Something interesting happened this week in my neighborhood. A neighbor, a computer animator, has a website with a name similar, apparently, to a gay porn studio. There was a...misunderstanding...and somebody (we can't figure out who) called the police to report that gay porn was being produced in the house. Yes. In small town Wisconsin. Clearly a hotbed for gay porn. I guess the guy with the website was laughing about the similarity between the website names at a bar last week and he thinks someone at the bar must have heard him and called the cops. Wild. Absolutely fucking wild.

That is hilarious and horrifying, RA. :D

Right now I'm trying to wrap my head around the fact that although I have less than two hours I'm going to cut Sweeter's hair and make potatoes au gratin to take to a dinner party at 7pm.

I'm waiting for him to get back from the grocery right now, is the reason why I'm not getting a move on and instead sitting here tending my sea monkeys.

Jackie "the Librarian" | 8991 comments I've always suspected that about Wisconsin, RA. You all act so innocent and wholesome with your cheese and stuff, but with those winters...

message 230: by Félix (new)

Félix (habitseven) monkey sea monkey do

message 231: by Félix (new)

Félix (habitseven) Sally - don't cut his hair near where you make the potato dish. Yeck!

message 232: by Sally, la reina (new)

Sally (mrsnolte) | 17373 comments Mod
Heesh. Okey dokey.

message 233: by RandomAnthony (new)

RandomAnthony | 14536 comments I always forget Sally knows how to cut hair. Maybe she can have us all over sometime and give us matching hair styles.

Fo sho. I'm thinking Montambo circa 1993 for everyone. Or perhaps The Kork.

Jackie "the Librarian" | 8991 comments I think those would require a curling iron, not just a haircut, Sally.

Sally (mrsnolte) | 17373 comments Mod
Or some perm solution and pipe cleaners.

message 237: by Kevin (new)

Kevin (ksprink) | 11469 comments did you use the bowl to cut his hair with (as a guide) and then make potato's?

message 238: by RandomAnthony (new)

RandomAnthony | 14536 comments Right now I'm drinking tea and listening to music.

I feel like I'm imitating a Jackie evening.

That's not a bad thing.

Jackie "the Librarian" | 8991 comments Hey, I'm listening to music, too! RA's September shebang, but don't ask me what song, because I can't find the playlist. I really like this whole CD. I think RA's musical style is growing on me. Like moss... ;)

Still at work though, considering patron requests, (a bunch of graphic novel stuff like usual) and I would LOVE a cup of tea right now.

message 240: by Sally, la reina (new)

Sally (mrsnolte) | 17373 comments Mod
Hey! Graphic Novels! I'm right now sitting in my office underdressed in my yoga outfit for later, considering tea, and rewriting this conference presentation on graphic novels that I'll be shaking and stammering my way through in about, oh, 19 hours.

Jackie "the Librarian" | 8991 comments Well, I can tell you that Bleach is very popular, Sally, as is Hikaru No Go.

message 242: by Leslie (new)

Leslie | 777 comments Right now I'm looking through my email, sitting in my new office chair I splurged and got, after a day of aching back, neck, and shoulders. My daughter is doing her homework in the livingroom and soon she will need to the computer for her English homework and I'll go then and load the dishwasher and straighten up.

message 243: by [deleted user] (new)

Good luck with the presentation Sally.

Félix (habitseven) Wow that guy doesn't even take off his sunglasses at night, indoors, looking into our fishbowl.

message 247: by Kevin (new)

Kevin (ksprink) | 11469 comments nope because some of you are pretty bright

message 248: by Félix (new)

Félix (habitseven) Well said.

message 249: by Kevin (new)

Kevin (ksprink) | 11469 comments is twitterpated a word?

message 250: by Félix (new)

Félix (habitseven) If you really want it to be. Oh, and if you're not playing Scrabble.
