Right now I am smelling some soup that I'm cooking in a crock pot, wondering if it will be edible, since most things I try to cook in a crock pot are not. Thinking about the fact that I need to go to bed so I can get up for work tomorrow and also thinking about the fact that I don't want to go to work tomorrow. And I'm happy because I got 4000 more words written on on my book! I'm getting to the end of the first draft--I'm excited and a little apprehensive too.
Soup in Florida in the summer? Good writing, Leslie:)I'm in my office, 7:38AM, working on my new computer...it's cool. Yay new office computer that doesn't lock all the time on GR.
right now i am: totally gassed and ready to go home. HUGE long weekend with 150 kids at a retreat. i stayed up too late and had to get up too early. perfect weather all weekend. great music, delish food and awesome kids. one shout out to the Cox twins. one has CP and his 15 year old brother (who has mild CP) is his helper and did everything for him all weekend including getting his food, helping him shower and dress and being a best friend. totally a blessing to be with these boys and i am humbled
now to go home and clean my motorcycle, golf clubs and be in bed by 9 i hope
That's cool about the twin who helps his brother. My weekend was utterly exhausting, but all parties survived the big birthday bash, and my sister's birthday was not ruined by factional warfare.
The only casualty was a watermelon that hadn't made it out of the kitchen to the barbecue. It somehow imploded overnight, drenching our butcher block and giving us one more thing to clean this morning.
I had a really good show Saturday night, but we didn't get home til 3 am, and I couldn't sleep in yesterday, so I am residually exhausted and looking forward to a relaxing evening and leftovers tonight.
I'm about to drive over to a 16-year-old's house. His parents hired me as an SAT tutor.Fuck my life. I thought I'd be done with this by now...
Oh, damn, you people have way more exciting weekends than me. And you're welcome to them.Cerebral Palsy, Lori, I think...if I spelled that right...
How was the tutee, Matty? Is "tutee" a word? If "mentor" is "mentor" (heh), and "mentee" fits...then...

Okay, okay, I also took a bike ride, and looky-looed at an open house in the neighborhood. I liked the tile in the bathroom. Now, THAT'S excitement!
That's so cool about the twins. I really admire them.Yeah, soup in the summer in Florida. Kinda strange, you're right. Didn't even think about that. And it turned out really good. One of my first crock pot victories! Usually the crock pot in the morning means Burger King that night. I don't know why.
Thanks, RA, for the encouragement about my book. I'm close to the end!!! Wow--I started 3 or 4 years ago. I almost don't want it to end, I just want to keep writing forever. But I also don't, I want to finish it. Know what I mean?

Could someone please translate the French at the end?
Yeah, someone anyone? (heh - nimporte means anyone)Since that's French, I bet they made it with Godard's famous film Weekend in mind: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wC9d9r...
I have never watched American Idol, although there was a brief period when my daughter wanted to watch it, since Simon was on Shrek 3.
I translate the French as "It's by doing whatever that one becomes whoever," which doesn't make much sense. Sensing that this is an idiomatic saying I searched the web and I found this:
This is the slogan of a French comic/spoof artist called Remi Gaillard. (I highly recommend his videos if you have time for a laugh!!)
I've translated this as:
'it’s only by doing the completely ridiculous that you become a ridiculous nobody like me'
Or: The best way to become a p*** artist is by p***ing around

Drinking iced coffee with the girl who was last year's valedictorian. I was denied the honour due to a ridiculous school policy... ah, well.In two days, I will have been out of high school for exactly one year. How strange it feels...
Anytime Matt mentions a girl I assume he's dating her. I'm going to be a complete pain in the ass to my kids once they get a little older.
Right now I'm having an internal debate of Shakespearean importance--To do the dishes or not to do the dishes--that is the question.I have a feeling the answer is go to bed after I get off the computer and let the dishes sit for another night.

Right now I am jumping up and down madly because I just received word that I have been awarded a major grant by the Dutch Foundation for Literature!YEEHAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA!
Sorry. Please continue.
Ha! That'll deliver genius of deep thoughts and revelations about the human condition right? Even further, complete enlightenment about The Universe. But will anyone else understand?Richard, that is truly awesome news, hearty congrads!
'Karencilla' welcome to this site! it is fun to know what others are doing - may i ask where your located? i am in spring texas and it is hot as _ _ _ _ - well you get the idea. It has not rained in days here or maybe it is weeks - rain would only make it hot and sticky!
Thanks for that tsunami of kudos and kindness, Terminaltors! I celebrated by shivering on my chair re-reading the letter over and over again. Then there was a mad frenzy of communication. And now I'm trying to drown my doubts with beer - the frothy panacea.
If I were to spend my entire grant on hash, Dave, I would be flat on my back until the age of retirement. Which is starting to look like an interesting alternative.
Watching the rain through my window. I wish it would get warmer... My pool has been open for two weeks... and I haven't even used it yet!
