I'm back from visiting family and friends in Seattle. I got caught up with my best friend Gretchen and her dating life, and went to the movies with mom, we saw Up and really loved it. Mom especially - she appreciated that the hero was older than she was.And today I went over to Lori's and hung out with her and her big sweet dog, and new kitten, and had pizza.
She lives in this really cool neighborhood near Greenlake (no, I'm not jealous!) where, after a cloudy morning, it turned into a beautiful day by the afternoon:

Oh noooooooooo, you showed my unkempt hair in TC?!?!Ha!
Talk about delightful, Larry, I had a perfect day with Jackie and got to meet Chris, who is a male equivalent of Jackie, so double the pleasure.
Your hair looks windswept and pretty, Lori! I'm just glad neither of us had pizza stuck in our teeth. :)
Oh, you two look great! I'm glad you had fun.My wife and kids loved "Up!" too.
Right now I'm up (no, uh, movie pun intended) after falling asleep early. My back hurts. My ten year old wanted to lift weights with me today, so I gave him very light weights and walked him through the circuit. While showing him what NOT to do (e.g. "be careful not to do this"), I f--ked my back (no, um, movie pun intended again) up my back. Brilliant, eh?
Oh no, RA! Doesn't it figure that when we're trying to impress upon our youngsters just what not to do, it's precisely when we fall to de Law o' Murphy and do exactly what we don't want them to do? All I can say is, Heating Pad & Ibuprofen... sucks.I love the pic Lori & Jackie! How much fun... I'm jealous. :)
Sleeping is indeed a huge waste of time, Matt.Right now I'm looking for a simple means to reassemble my ego and remove huge quantities of lactic acid from my legs.

Damn, Richard! I ran track (and was a record-setting sprinter, I might add... :)) in high school, but I was always afraid of marathons…I ran a 5km charity run a few times, but that was it.
And now... I'm in bad shape. Too many injuries...
You're a good guy, Richard.
Thanks, Matt, that's added extra shine to an already sunny day. I'm also a sprinter (even at age 44) and I can't stand being overtaken. So the greatest challenge yesterday was to keep myself reined in.Bedtime is grossly overrated, Nools, especially when you're on your own. I hardly ever get to bed before 3 a.m. when my wife is away on a flight.
Woah! I had to quickly convert to miles because metric means nothing to me (hurrah, American education!). Running! Just thinking about it makes me tired. Or maybe that's the 3am talking.... Props to Richard! You must be fabulously healthy. :D
And Young Matthew! Out of bed at 6am?!
It evens out, I guess?Right now, I'm about to eat my homemade mini pot pie. Can I express how wonderful it is to live with a chef? I have a freezer full of little pot pies to take for my lunches this week. We ate our farmer's market strawberries all weekend in the form of homemade strawberry custard pie, accompanied by strawberry daquiris.
And yesterday, I was treated to pancakes in bed -- beer pancakes, the best kind.
Thanks 'Sarah Pi' for reminding me it is lunch time - no wonder my tummy is hungry! :::giggle:::
now for the chore of deciding what to eat - pass the pot pie please! :)
I was partnered with a CHEF once ...sigh
You are one lucky girl, SP! :)Richard - "PS: Please tell me I'm the only 44-year-old still struggling with his schoolboy glands."
I, too, struggle with my schoolboy glands - although they are mostly attached to my husband. ;) In light of your struggles, I think it takes more courage (albeit desguised as something more akin to insanity) and strength of character to get out there when you weren't in the same physical condition as the rest of those perky, sweatband-wearing chickas, and you finished! That, by the Gods, is something to be proud about... after you passed out on the lawn. :D
I am working at the Lacey Library today, at the Children's Desk. I helped find John Deere tractor books for one guy, and vampire books for a teen girl so far.
I couldn't find a vampire farmer book but I did find a blog! Believe it or not!!http://personals.nerve.com/blog/3780/...
Thanks, Cosmic, that's very kind. I'm still buzzing from the run and I'm even planning to give up smoking to put in a better performance next year. I've decided to replace my cigarettes with a steel brush that I will be using to scrub the garden steps whenever I feel the urge to smoke. If that fails, I shall be catching connecting intercontinental flights for a week. That should do the trick.
There's the book Little Vampire on the Farm, Sarah Pi. Is that the kind of book you were looking for?Good for you, Richard!
Right now I'm picking colors and painting swaths to see "how the paint dries" out in our light.
The color we were pretty sure on turned out to be brown (!!!) once it was applied.
They moved our date up two weeks, so suddenly this decision is rushed.
I don't mind, however. I hate decisions.

Oh most excellent! There really is a farmer vampire book.Sarah P - I am now officially jealous. In the words of Elaine, Get Out!
Sally - so what colors are you looking into?
We painted our exterior several years ago. I wanted a nice blue-green that turned out to be swimming pool turquoise. I've been counting the years until we have the rationale for repainting.
Oops. Did they break?I'm in my office. I should do some work today.
Oh, and I found a picture of Jackie and her husband dancing in Argentina.

Good Morning Reading Coffee friends!I sleep with my glasses on most nights - the eye clinic know me well as I pop in lots of morning for an adjustment! :)
We're going for Dark Gray for the body, near-white for the trim, and a red door. And the best part: we're getting a new screen door.
Nice! I love bright colored doors. My stepmother has a really cool poster titled " The Doors of Dublin." I was reminded of it yesterday while watching Dear Frankie. They have bright kelly green French Doors at the entrance to their apartment. I loooove those doors! Red doors are always lovely.
Look at his little fingers! And the way his tail curls around the tree trunk, like a hug! And his nose is shiny like black patent leather! And his left ear leans just a bit more than the right ear! And his left foot is propped upward, parallel to the trunk! And his left paw curves downward just ever so slightly!
Sally, nice, that red door will really pop! I've seen that color combination before, and have admired it.
I can't help it, Kevin. I'm magnetically drawn to cute animals. I go into serious squee mode when I go to cute overload.
