Jackie "the Librarian" | 8991 comments No one should eat jello anyways. I was not happy when I found out what it's made of. Ewww.

I am getting ready to go see King Dinosaur's band at the Eastside Club. What should one wear to a "outlaw country" band concert?

message 152: by [deleted user] (new)

A camera for pictures

Kevin (ksprink) | 11469 comments fringe and indian turquoise belt buckle

Tight jeans, a high ponytail, and boots of some sort.

Sally (mrsnolte) | 17373 comments Mod
I'm being serious while they are not.

Jackie "the Librarian" | 8991 comments Okay, THAT I can do. I'm already wearing jeans, and yeah, they're kinda tight. And my hair's in a ponytail, so that's good. I may do sneakers instead of boots, though...

message 158: by Kevin (new)

Kevin (ksprink) | 11469 comments how do you know sally? ok, i was sorta kidding but i don't know maybe that would be a cool look

message 159: by Sally, la reina (new)

Sally (mrsnolte) | 17373 comments Mod
Ok, now lets talk shirts. Do you have black long sleeves? V-neck?

message 160: by Julie (new)

Julie | 568 comments And what kind of sneakers?
That is an important one.

Jackie "the Librarian" | 8991 comments I have a black long-sleeve t-shirt, but it's ballet style, not v-neck.

message 162: by Sally, la reina (new)

Sally (mrsnolte) | 17373 comments Mod
Perfect. That works. I'd wear some kind of choker necklace with it if possible.

message 163: by Kevin (new)

Kevin (ksprink) | 11469 comments yeah, i am out of this one. i dress the same for everything

Jackie "the Librarian" | 8991 comments I might wear my burgundy corduroy blazer, too. It's pretty cold out there.
Thanks, Sally!

That sounds right to me.

Jackie "the Librarian" | 8991 comments I am back at home after an exciting evening of outlaw country music, pear cider, and hobnobbing with King Dinosaur (aka Colt Winchester) and his band:

Leslie | 777 comments Are you feeling better Anthony? I've been sick all week and finally went to the doctor yesterday--came back with steroids, antibiotics, and heavy duty, codeine infused cough syrup.
Drugs, man, drugs.....
One time my daughter asked me,how come you and daddy say drugs, man, drugs, in that silly hippy voice. Which was a pretty good question, since we were both 9 when the 60's turned into the 70's and because we don't want her to do drugs and we didn't. It's kind of funny, or maybe it's just the cough medicene talking, who knows!

message 168: by Leslie (new)

Leslie | 777 comments Kevin,
did you have sea monkeys, too, when you were little? I loved mine. I even won a prize in a pet show when I was 10--smallest pet in show!

message 169: by Matthieu (new)

Matthieu | 1009 comments Ah, that's a great shot, Jackie! Did you enjoy the show? "Outlaw country" sounds pretty cool.

message 170: by Cosmic Sher (new)

Cosmic Sher (sherart) | 2234 comments That is a great pic. Very fun.

I was sooooo incredibly disappointed when I finally got my 6-8 week long, desperately awaited package, only to find that they were brine shrimp. Where the heck is the little sea monkey family with crowns on their heads? Oh, the shattering of a little girls innocence!

message 171: by RandomAnthony (last edited Feb 20, 2009 02:45AM) (new)

RandomAnthony | 14536 comments Thanks, Leslie...yes, I was sort of on the border of sick...but not quite there. A ton of people around work are sick, though...one of those weeks...I have yet to take the drugs, man, drugs:)

Great pic, KD and Jacks...look at how rock and roll they look!

Ha...I'll happily be anyone's sea monkey, as long as you are all ok with my visualizing you as chia pets lined up next to the computer.

Thanks for posting the picture, Jackie! It's always so cool to see GR people. I'd always imagined KD slightly differently...

It's been about 3 years since I've been sick enough for drugs, man, drugs. *knock on wood* Usually this would be the time of year for it. Sweeter just got over something nasty, it crawled up his nose and took residence for a week in his sinuses. Gross.

message 173: by [deleted user] (new)

I pictured KD differently too, like with claws and a long tail, heck he looks almost harmless ;-D.

message 174: by RandomAnthony (new)

RandomAnthony | 14536 comments I hope Sweeter feels better, Sallers...sinus infections suck.

KD looks like he could be in Wilco.

Right now I'm listening to The The's "Soul Mining" and putting together reimbursement forms before a 9AM meeting. Which will be followed by an 11AM meeting. Which will be followed by a 2PM meeting.

Which will be followed by "High School Musical 3" with my kids.

I might sneak a visit to Whole Foods in there somewhere. I need more Indian food.

message 175: by Félix (new)

Félix (habitseven) I'm going home today. Yay.

Listening to cowboy poets on TV right now. It's a Nevada thing.

Right now I'm listening to colleagues talk loudly in the hallway about all their plans for the weekend.

Head pounds, they pretend I'm not here, I seethe.

message 179: by [deleted user] (new)

I love little kids, ahh the memories of feeding cheerios and then wearing said cheerios.

message 185: by Leslie (new)

Leslie | 777 comments Right now I'm in pajamas--a few layers of them, it's getting cold again--UGH!!! finishing my tea and preparing to go and take more drugs, man, drugs and turn my brain into mush and fall asleep in the chair while I'm reading, just like I did last night. Finally not coughing much--it's heaven!

message 186: by Leslie (new)

Leslie | 777 comments Sherrie,
I had never heard of brine shrimp when I got my sea monkeys, so maybe that helped me enjoy them more. But I know what you mean, the add shows crowns and thrones and expressions on their faces. The reality didn't meet the hype, did it? But I liked the little guys, just the same. I also found it pretty amazing that a living being could be dried, sent in the mail, rehydrated and then live. Still do, actually.

Oh yes... well she is really cute but a little bit bossy haha

message 190: by [deleted user] (new)

Well from experience the being cute helps her get away with a little bit more of the being bossy.

RandomAnthony | 14536 comments Right now I'm wishing I had worn a belt. My pants are falling down.

I hate that feeling.

Right now I'm listening to Tom Waits and feverishly getting things done (well, on GR) before a 2PM meeting.

message 192: by Félix (new)

Félix (habitseven) Sitting in Reno airport listening to the Wheel of Fortune slot machine --- again and again and again and again and again .... Wheel of Fortune! dadadum.

message 193: by Sarah (new)

Sarah | 13814 comments I'm not sure Tom Waits would help me with 'feverishly' -- for me he's sort of 'drunkenly'.

I ran home at lunch to get a belt. No good could have come of it otherwise.

message 194: by Kevin (new)

Kevin (ksprink) | 11469 comments ah...finally in from the cold. was cold and wet again today in lovely CHI. my carhartt's and my boots had a layer of ice on them i had to break off to get undressed. heading home shortly and then back here sunday night. i am checking email and such (not checking on the sea monkeys)

and leslie - no i did not have sea monkeys. you had to order them from the back of comic books and i always ended up buying the joy buzzers or fake puke instead. seemed like a more sensible purchase at the time (and now)

message 195: by Kevin (new)

Kevin (ksprink) | 11469 comments nice pic jackie and KD. sounds like fun. not exactly sure what outlaw country is. waylon, willie, steve earle? looks like fun. KD - epiphone les paul. nice and properly slung a bit low

Jackie "the Librarian" | 8991 comments Let's see, KD's band Rodeo Kill did a Johnny Cash tune ("I shot a man in Reno just to watch him die"), a Mojo Nixon song NOT by Mojo Nixon (huh?), "Baba O'Riley" I think (I recognized the chorus, but the rest sure sounded like country to me), and a cool train song I didn't catch the name of, among others.
It was REALLY noisy in the club, and I was wearing earplugs...

message 197: by Félix (new)

Félix (habitseven) Earplugs? Actually, the Cash song is Folsom Prison Blues.

Jackie "the Librarian" | 8991 comments That's it, Larry, thanks. Yeah, I've learned to bring earplugs to concerts ALWAYS. It's much easier to enjoy the music when it doesn't hurt.

message 199: by Sarah (new)

Sarah | 13814 comments It's a good move.

message 200: by Félix (new)

Félix (habitseven) I know that all too well.
